A meeting with the woman I love

**STEVEN WOLKER’S POV**

I spent the whole night keeping my eyes on the two of them. Although she seemed a bit tense, she still managed to have a beautiful time and be pampered by many.

He never left her side for a moment, and I grew increasingly irritated each time I saw them chatting so closely. I won't give up, not at all. I was determined to do the impossible and talk to her. I didn't wait this long for anything.

When they were about to leave, I followed them stealthily and noticed them getting into a car. He seemed to want to keep her away, which frustrated me constantly. The car drove off, and then I would have to move heaven and earth to find her.

"Hi, I remember you!" a woman asserted.

She directed my gaze to her, a man embracing her, likely her husband, and also a little boy in the man's arms.

"You saved us in a car accident a little over two years ago," the man affirmed.

My expression was puzzled, but soon the memory returned, and I smiled genuinely, relieved they were alright and seemingly with a child. I looked at the boy and imagined mine would be almost the same age. I took a deep breath and composed myself.

"I'm glad you're all okay," I affirmed sincerely.

"This is our boy. A miracle. I was pregnant and didn't know when that accident happened."

"Destiny was generous."

I felt an even worse sensation; my sadness was visible, and it seemed to reflect onto them as they noticed my sorrow. They asked about my wife, and I explained that we were no longer together; it was a true confession.

"Love conquers all through hate and fights; when we died in that accident, today I wouldn't be with the two loves of my life. We fought a lot, but now we've learned to overcome many obstacles and be happy."

I listened to those words, absorbing them like a sponge. I pressed my lips together and lowered my head, giving a nervous smile.

"I'll take your words with me."

The two then said goodbye, disappearing into the crowd, and I realized that my time had ended and that night had given me much more than I could have imagined. Now, I needed to get my head straight and think about what I would do from now on. But the only thing I wouldn't do now was give up.

I hurriedly left the place, got home, and took a long, hot shower, relaxing my tense muscles. I wondered if they were together as a couple but of course. I banged my head against the cold wall in anger at myself for that thought; I had opened a hole in her heart where another found space and offered to close it.

"Damn it!" I muttered.

I got out of the shower, put on something comfortable, and knew I wouldn't sleep now. I may not be able to sleep the whole night. However, something suddenly came to my mind.

Sophie was wearing a necklace, and I noticed that the pendant with the teddy bear from the park was hanging around her neck. I stood up and immediately combed my hands through my hair. Hope was alive. I would give it my all. I would be willing to do any crazy act of love to prove to that woman how much I loved her. I wanted to make up for everything I didn't do, even knowing I might not get the desired result.

But I will!"

It was a new day, a day with a different vibe. I had a slight hope; even though I knew the probability of winning back my wife's love was almost impossible, I wouldn't give up, even going through all the pain of seeing that watchdog constantly hovering over her. Regardless of whatever happened, if she has the slightest feeling for me and I can make it bloom again, I will try.

I would start by probing where to find her. The company would be a good place to start. We had many contacts, and I would inquire about her jewelry company, with its beautiful and meaningful name.

"Good morning, Mr. Wolker!" one of the household employees greets.

"Good morning!" I smile politely.

She widens her eyes and remains motionless, and I don't understand why. I sit at the table to have my breakfast, and she continues to look amazed, which confuses me.

"Did something happen?" I ask, feeling strange.

"You said good morning; you're having breakfast with enthusiasm," she comments, surprised.

I furrow my brows, forming a puzzled expression, but then I realize I shouldn't be so light-hearted for a while. The fact that I found Sophie after two years changed my day and my perspective.

"Was it that obvious how bad I was?" I am surprised.

"Yes, sir!"

I look at her, who becomes embarrassed because of her honesty and immediately leaves. I can't help but laugh; I start to think about how long it's been since I smiled involuntarily. I knew I might be creating false hopes, but for someone who lived in the crap for years without any news, her possible return was a victory.

Arriving at the company, I hurried down the hallway to my office door. The secretary greeted me with a "Good morning," and I returned the greeting. I asked her to accompany me to my office as I had to attend.

Sitting in the chair behind my desk, she looked at me strangely. I stopped, looked at her, and then understood what was happening again.

"I know, I look different this morning," I rolled my eyes.

"You do, sir, I can't deny it!"

Another one. I ignored it and leaned on the table with my elbows, taking on a pensive posture. I calculated a few things in my mind before making a request.

"I need you to find the jewelry designer Sophie Madson's company. It will be clearer to you then."

"Sophie? But she used to work here, and..." she stopped immediately.

"Long story. Can you do that?" I hurried.

"Of course, sir. You have a meeting in twenty minutes."

I confirmed my attendance, and she left the room with her mission to find out about Sophie. I was overwhelmed with documents to be signed, so I focused on doing that during the twenty free minutes before the meeting.

When the time finally came, I went to the meeting room punctually. Before that, I anxiously asked the secretary if she had found anything, but the response was that she might have seen something, but it didn't reveal much, so I would have to wait a bit longer.

The meeting room was on a different floor, the same floor where my dear ex-wife worked. It was extraordinary to think that way. I had been there only a few times, so I always felt strange when I arrived, especially when I saw her friend, Sally, who was still there but had been promoted to Sophie's position.

When I entered the designated room and closed the door, I almost dropped some papers I had in my hands, but I managed to balance them.

"Good morning, gentlemen," I looked up.

When I saw that blonde hair, clear eyes, and flushed face, not just from her makeup, I stopped entirely and almost dropped the papers again. Sophie was accompanied by two men I didn't know, who were older than us and seemed to be a collaborator and a lawyer.

"I...um...well..." I didn't know what to say.

In fact, before saying anything, I could tell she was a bit wary, but I tried to contain my happiness at having her in my meeting room and enjoying her company for at least a little while.

She looked away, seeming to avoid fixing her eyes on mine, and I did the opposite, not stopping looking at her for a second. It still felt somewhat surreal to me.

"I didn't want to choose this company!" she whispered, but I could hear her.

"You know they're the most qualified for your requirement. You more than anyone."

Then they composed themselves and began to inform me about the management services they needed from this company. I had excellent services to offer, not only to her company but also to her, but I guessed that wasn't relevant now. I explained everything in detail and noticed that she was very nervous about the situation, and I found her even more beautiful with that angry expression.

"Our team is qualified enough to handle the demands of the company. You know that, don't you, Sophie?" I provoked, unable to resist.

She looked at me; I suppressed a laugh at that pout and narrowed eyes. How could she be so beautiful? I had to hold back the emotion and not provoke her again because she was pretty aggressive, as she had been before, and now she must have gotten a little worse.

"Refer to me professionally, please," she demanded.

"Forgive me, ma'am..." I insinuated.

I needed to know if she was still single, but she didn't answer.

"I want the best for my company, the best marketing, the best expansion plan, and especially that the employee team plans in London are flawless," she emphasized.

I nodded completely surprised and proud of the way she was handling her company, very professional and sexy at the same time.

"I will do everything for you... I will do everything to ensure that your company's requirements are successfully met," I assured her.

She understood my initial words, shifted in her chair, and noticed that it also affected her. I couldn't deny that along with love comes an absurd desire, a longing to have her in my arms. I knew why I never managed to have sex with Nathaly precisely because even without memory, there was never any desire. But when it came to Sophie, regardless of anything, that never diminished.

"I think I've spent too much time here," she stated.

She stood up immediately, and her team did the same, a little taken aback by her behavior. I wasn't bothered by this, and I would have loved that meeting to last much longer.

"They will be in charge of dealing with the rest of the negotiations. See you later, Mr. Wolker."

I reached out to her, attempting to feel her touch once more, but she looked at my hand and ignored it. On the one hand, it would be good; I risked pulling her to me and holding her in my arms. But I wasn't satisfied yet; I needed more. This was a unique opportunity.
