Chapter 181 Coffee With Miranda
Chapter 181 Coffee With Miranda
Arden's POV
Miranda and I were sitting at a table next to the window at the coffee shop that is next to Sternpoint. I finished my coffee as Miranda was rambling on about everything. I was mostly distracted by the thoughts of Lana. I texted her earlier but there was still no response from her. I hope that she is okay and, yes, I should have an open mind that she is working, but I still worry, especially with that...kid.
"You have been looking out of that window since we got here," Miranda snapped me out of my thoughts as I now looked at her.
"Sorry," I said.
"What has gotten you so distracted? Do not tell me it's about my crush sh^t again," she rolled her eyes.
"Yes, his name is Daniel and I worry about her and the...I just worry," I nearly blurted it out again.
"Lana wouldn't want someone else. You do know that, right? She only has eyes for you. If she thinks that she can work with him, then allow her to without the need to constantly be around because of him. I know how protective you can get over the things that are yours. Especially the ones that you love."
"Enough about Daniel. How is Terry?" I asked, "The last time that we texted each other was two weeks ago. She was still at work, is mom keeping her distance from Terry at least?" I asked. Terry is working at a company in New York, she is doing what she loves as an HR...
"She is currently on vacation with her boyfriend in Zanzibar. I recommended that place to her seem that Lana was there. She is enjoying the break. She works very hard, so this is well deserved. Mom is not bothering her, I think that mom is too focused on The Queen Tower Enterprises." she shook her head. "I still hate her, I know that it is a strong word, but after everything, I can't see myself ever forgiving her, even after the sh^t she pulled. I'm also glad that Terry hardly knows anything about her but she does know that mom has taken over dad's company. She doesn't even know about the club, but eventually she will find out, she is not that little girl anymore. I missed out a lot of her life and when you always came to the rescue, especially to look after her, it meant everything to me to know that there was still a family member that cared enough to do that for me." her eyes glazed over.
"I would do that all over again. I'm just happy that she is enjoying her life without any drama from us and her grandparents," I sighed.
"Something that I wanted to avoid all my life." she chuckled.
"Me too. I guess I have to get going. Do I need to drop you off anywhere?" I asked.
"My apartment, please," she said as she took her hand bag and we stood up. As we walked towards the exit, Miranda bumped into a woman that she knew. I excused myself and stepped out onto the side walk. My car was parked along the street, but close to the entrance of the coffee shop.
I stopped by my car, waiting for Miranda, "Arden?" I looked up from the ground and I never thought that I would ever see Lucinda again. She looked more curvier and beautiful as when I first laid eyes on her back in the day. "It's so great to see you again," she smiled. I didn't return her smile for obvious reasons.
"Lucinda, what are you doing here?" I asked. I hope that she didn't move all the way here in order to try to get me back, because that will never happen in a million years. I put both of my hands in my dark blue jeans pockets. I looked at the little boy that was holding her hand. The little boy that I once thought was mine. My father's child, I can see the resemblance. Yet Charl was tugging on his mother's hand as he was swinging one leg back and forth, he still had the habit of putting his finger in his mouth, a habit I was trying hard for him not to have as a baby. He looked at me with shyness, a shyness that I had when I was a kid too.
"I came with my husband, I'm married now, and we have a baby...she is in New York with a nanny. She is two years old. I decided to bring Charl with us so that it wouldn't be too much on the nanny's hands." she said as I looked at her. "My husband is at Sternpoint, he had to attend a meeting with one of the managers or something. It has to do with modeling. I came to just be a support. I never thought that I would run into you again," she smiled at me.
"Me neither," I replied with a stone-cold face.
"I better go and see if he is done with the meeting. It was nice seeing you again. I hope things are great with Lana," she said.
"Things are great, we are getting married soon."
"Congratulations," she continued to smile. "I am staying in the Stern hotel, so I might see you around wherever," she said as she walked away, trying to get Charl to say good bye to me, which he didn't. I know one thing, Lana would not like the fact that she is staying in the Stern hotel.
As they walked away, I continued to look at Charl. "Mommy, who was that?" I heard him ask. I took in a deep breath as he had a skip in his steps.
"So what did I miss?" Miranda finally came out of the coffee shop, I pulled my hands out of my pockets.
"Nothing much," I said as I opened the car door and got inside.
I didn't feel like mentioning that I just ran into Lucinda and Charl. I just didn't have the energy for that. I do plan on informing Lana, because we shouldn't keep secrets and I'm trying my best to be the best for her.
