Chapter 131 - Your Plan - Fedds
Luisa
"I can't wait to meet your girlfriend," my mother said.
"Help me, Luisa. You work for a federal agency that locks up guys like me. I don't want to go to jail. I can prove I'm turning my life around. I can deliver the whole cartel, though I'd like them to have the chance to choose."
"Maluco, I'd have to talk to my boss. Mom!" I looked at her. "You'll have to make a lot of coffee so we don't fall asleep tonight. Two geniuses need to work."
"I've surpassed you," he said arrogantly, pulling my ponytail like he used to when we were kids. "I missed you, Freckle Face."
I kissed him on the cheek and got into professional mode. Reaching an agreement would be difficult. But he was my brother, and we deserved to be together.
"What do you have in mind, and what waters will we navigate?"
"In short, I want to fake my death, clear my people, keep my legal properties, and destroy the cartel. Where do you want to start?"
"Do you also want a roasted chicken?"
"I've been following your career for several months, I've investigated you. We can reach an agreement. I'm willing, but no jail. I want a peaceful life."
"You'd only give me the cartel in Colombia?" she smiled mischievously.
"Let me keep an ace up my sleeve. Depending on what I get, I'll only give you this information, but I can also give you everything related to the major mafias."
"That's a different price, Russia and China..."
"Only as a last resort. You can negotiate my freedom with America. I know how you think, little sister. You'll know everything about me."
"I don't doubt it. From now on, I'll investigate you and know even your dreams."
"You'll only know my good side. I have the best team with me, cleaning up my image."
"You don't know mine," I said proudly.
"I think you should meet Rata."
"Who?"
"My best friend, my second-in-command, the man I trust most, along with Cebolla and four other friends. I only trust them."
"Names, those nicknames are horrible," she laughed again.
"Simon and Miguel. The rest are Rasca culo, Mojon, Churrusco, and Cereza." I covered my ears, and he laughed again. "Gustavo, Arnold, Aníbal, and Daniel."
"Alright, we have work to do. I'll talk to my boss when you tell me everything so we know where to move."
"I'm in the hands of the best negotiator in the agency."
My cousin's call brought me back to the present. He was about to throw a pitcher of water in my face.
"Don't you dare!" I yelled.
"You're finally back. I have to go, you look perfect. Be sharp, let that tattooed guy deflower you." I punched him; I hate it when he talks like that. He complained.
"You're disgusting with that mouth."
"Luisa, you don't even want to know what I do with it." I felt nauseous.
"Don't say anything dirty." He laughed, kissing my forehead.
"See you, cousin. I love you, take care, and give the family my love."
Once alone, I picked up the phone, but I didn't dare use it. Simon seemed very clever. I took the detector again, and in my wallet, there was a tracker. In yesterday's wig, there was another. I took the other phone from my bag. It was important to talk to him first and then to my boss. The operation started on Sunday. He answered on the second ring.
"Tell me, Freckle Face."
"Simon was here." He laughed.
"I told you I had the best team," I rolled my eyes, but I adore this arrogant man. "It took him a while to find you. When is he moving to Blanco?"
"Maluco, they still think you're dead."
"What?!"
"I have several hypotheses. The main one, remember your wife fainted when she entered the waiting room. Many people came to help her. Maybe they stole that ridiculous memory locket you gave her. Only you would think to bathe it in gold and diamonds."
"Shit! Does Veronica still think I'm dead?"
"Now I understand their reaction on the day of the will reading. They all looked so sad. Your wife and your friends still think of you as dead. I didn't correct Simon's mistake, tell me what to do, but first, you should know something. Yesterday they tried to kidnap Veronica again, and thanks to Onion, they didn't succeed." There was a deathly silence.
"Tomorrow hell will break loose, Freckles. If for some reason they find out I'm still alive, they'll go after her. I can't allow that."
"It's best if they believe you're still dead for a few more days. I have no problem pretending."
"I saw Rat and Turd when they came to The Rebirth. You don't know how hard it was to hold back and not confront them."
"I still have trouble understanding those nicknames."
"You call me Maluco, I don't see why you're upset with the nicknames."
"I’m just telling the truth. Another thing, Simon put four trackers, I eliminated two and I have the others."
"Luisa, there's no one I trust more than him. I can't protect you right now, but I'd feel better if you stayed under my friend's radar. I bet anything that just because you're my sister, you made it onto his list of people to protect."
"You know each other well, that's what he said, and he included our mother."
"Keep one."
"He wants to come in."
"No, but don't push him away, lean on him, but don't make him part of this, at least not yet. That would be sentencing him to death."
"Then I won't tell my boss anything, I'll tell your friend to keep an eye on me."
"Ask him for the house's IP, I want to see Veronica. I keep repeating like an idiot the day of the will reading. She's very thin and haggard. When you talk to Simon again, tell him how grateful you are to Miguel for saving Veronica's life."
"Okay, I'll do it. They follow you out of respect and admiration, not fear. You made a good team."
"Tell Rat the plans, but don't let him know about my existence yet, it's the only way to keep them alive. When you checkmate those who didn't accept, tell him."
"As you say, Captain! Roland..."
I fell silent, I won't ask him anything about his friend, the cunning man, he might use that interest against me later.
"Yes?"
"Take care of mom."
"Always, call me from this number, I bet my balls he's cloned your phone, he's an expert at that."
"I admit he's good."
"He's a widower." Luckily he couldn't see me, my face turned red. I heard his hearty laugh.
"See you in a couple of months."
I finished talking, called Simon back, my hands were sweating, was it normal for that man to make me feel this way?
"Black-haired."
My heart raced hearing him call me that, when we saw each other earlier, I attributed it to the reaction from the different styles he saw me in, I always wore a wig except for the day I put the phone in his jacket.
"Simon, two conditions."
"What are they?" His rough voice sent shivers down my spine.
"You won't be directly involved in the operation, the decision is to protect my sister-in-law, analyzing it, it's vitally important that you all don't get involved, but I do need you as my other eyes. I remember my brother held you in very high regard."
"He was my brother," he said.
"Secondly, I need you to share the IP of your house cameras. You know, we like to keep an eye on you."
"I have no problem with that, just don't get scared seeing us in our underwear." The image of that man in boxers made me blush.
"Okay, I'll call you tomorrow to meet with the lawyer."
"Are you alone now?" My pulse quickened again, I heard him sigh heavily. "Rest, Black-haired."
Seconds later, a WhatsApp message arrived. I transcribed it to the other phone so it would reach my brother. I couldn't help but smile at the information Roland provided, Simon was a widower. God, but I was scared of him, I couldn't help but tremble when he was close.
