Chapter 41
After what happened at the office, Freya stayed in the room for the rest of the day. Hendrik gave her space and there were also many things to be resolved for the next day, so Hendrik decided to look for Freya only at night, she would have had time to digest everything she saw and heard earlier.

Night came and Hendrik returned home, tired from the bustling day. He went to the room to take a shower, and then went to look for Freya. Hendrik knocked on the door but there was no response,he opened the door slowly and saw that Freya had fallen asleep reading the book she had taken from the office.

Hendrik approached the bed, observing Freya lying there. He sat on the bed, gently caressing her face and called out to Freya, trying to wake her up.

Freya woke up and stretched a bit, looked outside and saw that it was already nighttime.

" I came to call you for dinner," Hendrik said. Freya nodded and sat on the edge of the bed.

" I'll take a shower and then I'll come down."

Before leaving, Hendrik wanted to make sure everything was okay between them. He approached Freya to see if she would reject him.

" Are we okay?" Hendrik touched her face,since Freya didn't pull away.

" Yes, I know I didn't react well to what I saw at the office. I can't say it's okay to kill people, but I also understand that this is your reality. I just prefer not to know everything you do In that sense."

" I know you were shocked by what you saw, that's why I didn't want you to see or know what I told Sasha to do. unfortunately,this is the world I've always lived in,  it's with kill or be killed. That's why I try to keep you away from these things as much as possible."

Hendrik hugged her and gave her a tender kiss on the forehead, then kissed her lips.

" I'll wait for you downstairs," Hendrik left the room, leaving Freya alone to take her shower.

Freya sighed and went into the shower. Even though Hendrik tried not to let her know too much about his business, Freya had already realized and experienced firsthand how heavy and dark Hendrik's world could be. She could imagine just how difficult it was for him and his siblings to be born into this

Freya finished her shower and went downstairs. Hendrik, Sasha, and Alan were in the living room waiting for her. They sat at the dinner table and Freya couldn't help but occasionally observe Sasha. She couldn't help but think that in this world, people are not always what they seem. Sasha was very outgoing and cheerful,but capable of doing a job like that. Viktor,who had been her friend for many years,whom she never imagined being a part of the Mafia,was also a trained assassin.

Freya tried not to think too much about it or she would go crazy. Even though she knew what all of them at  that table were capable of, at least they weren't sadistic like Tobias. Freya was nearly done with her meal when Hendrik spoke to her.

" We have something important to do tomorrow, so we'll probably be out all day. If you want, I can arrange for someone to take you to the clinic where Anika is. It's safe there." Freya agreed, as staying in that big house without Hendrik or anyone to talk to was hellishly boring.

Freya figured it had something to do with the fact that Viktor had been called. She wouldn't ask what they were planning to do, but she needed to know if it was dangerous or not. " Is what you're going to do dangerous? Could someone get hurt?" The three of them exchanged glances and Freya already knew before they responded. " Yes, but we have everything planned, it will be fine."

Even though Hendrik said it would be fine, Freya would only feel at ease once they all returned safely, especially Hendrik. After dinner, Hendrik asked if Freya would like to watch a movie before going to bed, considering the important task they had the next day. Freya questioned whether she should sleep early or just rest.

Hendrik explained that he was already used to it and since he couldn't sleep through the night anyway, it wouldn't make a difference. The two went to the TV room and watched a movie together. At the end of the movie, Freya ended up falling asleep snuggled up to Hendrik.

Hendrik picked up Freya and took her to her room. He laid Freya down and he snuggled up next to her, knowing that he probably wouldn't sleep anytime soon,but wanting to have more calm moments like this with her.

Freya slept deeply that night. The next day, when she woke up, Hendrik wasn't in bed anymore. There was only a message on the bedside table that read, " You were sleeping so soundly that It felt unfair for me to wake you up. See you later my love. I love you."

Freya smiled foolishly at that little note. She got up, freshened up, and went downstairs. When she entered the dining room,there were two more people at the table. Freya recognized them as Emil and Rosamund, Hendrik's siblings.

The two paused their breakfast and looked at Freya, who was standing there unsure of what to do. She didn't know that they would be here, Hendrik hadn't said anything. Freya approached, since she couldn't just stand there like a statue 

" Good morning," Freya greeted the two.

" Good morning," Rosamund smiled and returned her greeting.

Emil stood up and extended his hand to Freya. He was as tall and handsome as Hendrik. " You must be Freya, my brother's  first official girlfriend," Emil didn't let go of Freya's hand and came closer to her ears. " If you think as little as hurting my brother, I'll kill you." After those words, Freya swallowed her saliva. She had just met him and she was already been threatened. What a lovely family!

" Emil, stop messing around, can't you see she's scared,". Rosamund scolded her brother. Emil smiled and with his other hand, he held onto Freya's shoulder. " Relax your mind, I'm just kidding with you. If you hurt him, he'll be the one to kill you." He sat back down , smiling , while Freya was still standing there dumfounded.

" Don't mind him. Come sit next to me," Freya opted to sit next to Rosamund. " I didn't know you guys were coming today."

" My brother is like that, don't worry, you'll get used to it. By the way, I'm Rosamund, and that aspiring mobster over there is Emil," she smiled a face at Emil.

" Did you see your brother today?" Freya asked because she had no idea what time Hendrik had left. Emil replied yes, that when they arrived Hendrik was already leaving. Freya started to have her breakfast, and then she would go see Anika. She really wanted to see her friend and distract herself a little. She was starting to miss her routine at the hospital and thought about how she missed the way her life was.
