CHAPTER 23

The announcement of Alison being his Luna never existed, it was all made up in my head and I was grateful for that, I was currently seated by the bar, sipping my wine out of a glass as I stared at them, dancing together, his hands on her waist and staring deep into her eyes as if he was deeply in love with her, not even paying me an form of attention.

Ashley was nowhere to be found and assumed that she was hooking up with one of the guests since she had been complimenting different guys in the party, I was all alone with my sad thoughts, wishing that I was in the position of Alison.

I replaced the wine with tequila because I wanted to get really drunk for the first time, so, I could pass out and forget that it ever happened.

I had taken so many shots when Tyler came to join me, a weak smile appeared on my face to greet him, ‘’Hey, Beta.’’

‘’Hi, Ree.’’ He replied me as he took a seat next to me.

I kept staring at him as if Tyler was not there, the alcohol’s effect was kicking in slowly and any attempt for me to stand up, I would stagger and fall.

‘’You have a crush on him, don’t you?’’ Tyler questioned me.

My eyes widened when I heard his question, ‘’No, I don’t.’’

He did not seem like the one who bought my lie, ‘’Come on, Ree. There is no harm in liking him, I would not blame you, every girl finds it hard trying not to fall for him, you have been staring at him for the past twenty minutes.’’

Wow, I was such a creep.

‘’He is already taken and even if, he was not, he would never give me a chance.’’ I stated.

‘’For now, he is not. Just look at him, does he seem to be in love with her? She literally irks him.’’ He pointed out.

Everybody irks Xander, nobody would ever be perfect for him, I do not even stand a chance.

‘’It does not matter, I would just like him from a distance.’’ I replied him.

‘’Yeah, right and drown your system with alcohol.’’ He scoffed as he attempted to grab the bottle away from me.

‘’Let us talking about me, what about you? Your mate?’’ I questioned him.

I wanted to divert the topic from me to him.

He suddenly went mute and I regretted why I ever asked such an insensitive question, I guess, just like me, he too had a horrible story to tell about mate bond.

‘’She rejected me because she wanted her mate to be an Alpha not a second in command.’’ He told me.

Wow, rejection was the worst thing ever, it must have been really hard for him, he must have hated his life.

I was not sure of the words to say, ‘’I am really sorry, I am sure that the goddess would bless you with another better mate who would be contented as long as you loved her.’’

‘’You don’t need to be, it is not your fault.’’ He answered me after taking a shot.

I did so too.

My vision was slowly blurry and a wide grin played on my lips, I wanted to do a lot of nasty things to Lex in front of everybody, I was definitely going to regret this.

He would hate me but I did not care at this point, only alcohol would give me the courage to do so.

I wanted to announce that I was his Luna, I knew his parents would believe me but he had the power to twist everything and make me look crazy.

I stood up to head towards Lex and his girlfriend when I almost fell down, Tyler was quick enough to catch me,

‘’Where exactly are you going to?’’ He asked me.

I pointed at Lex and Tyler gave me a raised brow, ‘’You want to meet him.’’

I nodded with a drunken smile, ‘’Yes.’’

‘’You are super drunk, come on, you need to sleep before you do something crazy tonight.’’ He stated.

‘’But that is what I wanted.’’ I countered.

He shook his head before he swept me off my feet and carried me on his shoulders, I kept staring at Lex until our eyes locked, I was hoping to see jealousy in his eyes but it held nothing other than coldness.

Tyler took me to a room and dropped me on the bed, ‘’You need to rest now.’’

‘’Tyler.’’

‘’Doesn’t it hurt when the one that you love does not give a fuck about you? He hates you so much that he wished that you were dead so that he would get a second chance mate.’’ I said.

‘’What are you talking about Ree?’’ He was obviously confused.

‘’I just wished that he would love me, treat me nicely, the same way that he does to her, I hate the fact that I am this way that is why he does not want me.’’ I added.

‘’Please, make me understand, have you met your mate? Who is he and did he reject you?’’ He threw so many questions at me.

I nodded, ‘’He does not like me, I want him to.’’

‘’Tell me, is it Alexander? You have had your tearful eyes on him, all night.’’

‘’Yes, he is.’’ I replied him before shutting my eyes slowly.

The next thing that I heard was, ‘’Don’t worry, he would accept you, the moment that his dad gets to know of this.’’

I pulled him back and pleaded with him, ‘’Please, don’t. He would hate me more.’’

He removed his hand from mine before walking away, probably in search of his best friend.

I should not have told him that, now, Xander would make me pay for it and Alison would torture me continuously when she finds out that I am her boyfriend’s mate.

Goddess, please, save me from the wrath of Lex, I should have avoided alcohol tonight.
