Chapter 138 Putting It In Perspective

Chapter 138 Putting It In Perspective
Alex

We were lying in a rather tangled heap on the mattresses in the living room. They had indeed made love to me all weekend. My body was a bit sore, but my heart felt better than it had in a while. Knowing that they still wanted me, they still saw me as a desirable woman and not just the mother to their children. No, they saw the woman who needed to know that I could still feel this and enjoy them touching me. So, yeah, I was doing pretty well right now.

I knew I had a shit ton of stuff still working to get ready for whatever military action they would be taking against the compound. There were lots of logistics that I wasn’t good at with that shit, and they would do their magic. I got the info, they figured out what the hell to do with it. I was worried about how long this one would take though.

As I was lying here, just thinking, but relaxed and dozing a bit. Suddenly there was a flurry of kicks and I startled for just a sec and then looked down at my ever-expanding baby belly. I watched it move, and a little foot most likely pushed against me. Then Cody, who must have seen it, reached his hand over and caressed my belly. Then the kick moved to kick his hand.

Suddenly I was thinking of when they did this while I was pregnant with Valen, how they would caress my belly, and he would move and almost seem to play with them. I watched as it was happening now with Cody and this little unknown someone inside me. He smiled as he moved his hand, then anticipated the punch or kick.

Suddenly it hit me. They really didn’t see this baby any differently than Hope or Valen. This was going to be our baby, fuck whoever the father was, it was our child, nobody else’s. I had no idea I was crying until Saint, who was my pillow currently, reached out and wiped tears off my cheek, “So, what are the tears for, baby?”

I moved my head to the side so I could look him in the face, “Just seeing what Cody did right then, it reminded me of when I was pregnant with Valen. Then it was kind of like, a surprised “ah, you don’t see this baby as any different than Hope or Valen” kind of thing. I realize you guys love Hope, and she was conceived horrifically. I guess I was just having to wrap my head around that this was like that. No matter what, fuck who the bio dad or whatever is, this baby is ours, and only ours, nobody else’s. I didn’t actually even realize I was crying.”

Cody, who was still playing kick the hand with the baby grinned at me softly, “Of course it doesn’t matter who the bio dad is. We will love this baby because it’s your baby, and now our baby, and nothing else matters. He or she is part of you. We will love them and make sure they are a good person when they grow up. So, don’t sweat the small stuff, baby, because we’ve got you, and we’re together, we’ll handle what we need to all together.”

“I guess, I really should have the doctors check everything out. I haven’t done that since I’ve been home. It’s just kind of been there, and I haven’t worried about the health of the baby. So, I need to change that and actually get a checkup, maybe find out if it is a boy or a girl, if there is anything wrong, or whatever. I will need to speak to Satine and find out about the best baby doctor they have here. Atorro was asking me if we had decided what we wanted to do. I told him we were still thinking about things. That’s something we all need to talk about. What happens next?”

“Yeah, we’ve been shooting ideas around, and we figured since right now so much of all the focus is taking out these fucking Alpha assholes, we would wait till we had a better handle on that, then sit down all together and start talking about what we all want to do,” Tiny told me and I nodded.

“I’m worried about how long this fight might take. So much of all of that bullshit is corrupted. Yes, this compound will help take care of several at once, and hopefully free quite a few women, but there’s more. So, how long and drawn out is this going to be?”

“Well, we don’t need to put everything on hold to do all of this. We were doing research into trafficking organizations and groups, we were rescuing women, we were doing military missions to accomplish that, before we came here. We are going to keep doing that, only now we have a different source for our missions. We will keep working through all of this bullshit, and those women, and those fucking bastards. Then when that is done, we’ll keep working on researching who else needs our help. That is just what we do, and we are going to keep doing it. So, that doesn’t alter us being together or a family. It doesn’t alter us having kids or raising them. We can make decisions, and live our lives, raise our family, and all of that aside from what we are doing with all of the other stuff. One doesn’t nullify the other.” Saint was running his hands through my hair as he said all of that.

“That is an excellent point. I don’t ever want to stop helping these women and shutting this shit down. Unfortunately, I don’t think there will ever be a shortage of sick mother fuckers who do this fucking bullshit in the first place. So, just know that we are going to keep doing what we do, and taking care of what we take care of. We’ll talk about where we want to end up physically or location-wise and how we want to set up all of our shit again, but those are just details.” Ratchet had reached out a hand to feel the baby alongside Cody, and I grinned at him.

I sighed, “Yeah, you’re right. Not sure why I got stuck in this headspace that we had to finish all of this and everything had to get wrapped up before we could plan the rest of everything, like where we will live, and how we want to reestablish our operations. So, let’s get this compound handled, and then we will sit down and make some decisions about exactly what we want to do.”
