Well, the last week has been a flurry of activity. We’d been working rather diligently on getting Alex all good on her practice of shooting, and she was actually a good shot. Satine had said she would work with her more while we were away because Satine was a crack shot. I know Alex is getting more and more nervous about the mission.
We are planning to be gone for no longer than a week. We are actually going to use the ship for this one. With the compound being so close to the Ocean, it’s the perfect spot to utilize it. We’re going to sail into the port there, then launch the attack using the helicopters. One thing we are planning this time is actually shooting our way in, rather than landing and going from there. We’re not looking for Alex this time, and we’re pretty sure any captive women would be somewhere locked away, so safe from flying bullets.
There are several women coming with us, but they are the wives of soldiers. Satine wanted to be here with Alex and the children since we’ll be gone for so long. Also, I think the last mission really fucked with her more than she anticipated. So, this time we still have women, but none who have a history that’s going to get triggered with this bullshit.
At this particular second, we are all together in a room, and it’s a bit crowded with all of us guys, Alex, who’s lying on an exam table, and the doctor. There’s also the ultrasound, which I was extremely happy to know they had. So, she did the exam, and she did mention that Alex herself is still underweight, but the baby is measuring ahead of where she thought it would be, but it could just be a big baby.
She spreads the gel out on her rounded stomach, and then gets that sensor and starts to run it around. She pauses, then moves, then pauses, then moves and I see her smile just a bit, and we all start looking at each other and wondering, what the fuck?
“Well, Alex, I now completely understand why you were measuring big, you are having twins.” She’s beaming a smile at Alex, and Alex is just staring at her with her mouth hanging open, and I am sure all of us are the same way.
Alex clears her throat, “Ah, twins, as in two babies, at the same time, that kind of twins?”
The doctor laughs, “Yes, two babies at the same time. Would you like to know the genders?”
She looks at us and I shrug, “It is fine with me, maybe it will help us plan better, because obviously we have some serious planning to do, baby.”
She looks at all of the guys, and they all shrug or nod, so she nods to the doctor, “You are having one of each, so now you will have a balance of 2 boys and 2 girls.”
“Well, there’s that, at least we are keeping things even.” Alex rubs her hands over her face.
So at the end, we have a few sonogram pictures to look at, and we are passing them around. It’s still amazing looking at those babies, moving around, one is sucking its thumb, all of that, and they aren’t even born yet. So, now we have a bunch more stuff to think about.
“Well, in all honesty this won’t affect nursery choice. They can both share the same crib for a bit, as they will be so small, but we can get those basinettes like what I had for Hope. We still have Valen’s little basket bed thing we used for him, so we can get another one of those. I don’t have any little girl things anymore, but we still have the smaller baby clothes and things Valen used, so we can use those again. It shouldn't be too hard to get baby girl clothes.
“No baby, they have markets here as well, so we can drive to the market and see what we find. I know they have some shops here that actually do really nice handmade things, and I bet there would be some lovely handmade blankets and things we could find.” Saint rubs Alex’s back as he mentions that.
“That’s a good idea, Saint. We should plan a shopping trip so we can start getting things ready. We still have a few months, but with twins, they will probably come a bit early. So, better to start to prepare.” The guys agree and so does Alex
“When are you guys supposed to leave out?” Alex looks at all of us.
“We have tonight, and tomorrow, and tomorrow night here with you, then we leave the next morning. We should be gone for no more than a week. Valenciaga thinks we should actually be able to get to the port not far from Orlando in 2 days, but he’s allowing 3 just in case. Then 2 days for the operation, then 2 days no more than 3 back. So, yes we’ll be gone for a bit, but it will be okay. We’ll also have our phones, not sure about service out there, but as they are sat phones hopefully they work fairly well.” I caressed her cheek as I told her, and she nodded.
Valenciaga was waiting when we got to the Villa and we all were laughing. He walked up and hugged Alex, so La Nena, tell me what she said.” Alex was grinning.
“Well, surprise, it’s twins was the big highlight of the visit. There’s one of each, so a girl and a boy, we got pictures.” I handed the sonogram pictures to him and he looked at them.
“Ah Alex, they will be beautiful, I can already tell. So, now we have 2 of each, which is a very nice balance. So, now you need to start gathering all the things together you will need. I think Satine wanted to take you to meet some of the women here who make some beautiful blankets, she thought you might like to have some, and you could get one for Hope and Valen as well.” Alex smiled and nodded.
“I like that idea, so I will talk to Satine about that later. As of right now, I think I need a nap. Then tomorrow we finish everything up, then while you all take care of that compound, Satine and I will plan babies.” We all laughed at that.
