Chapter 93 Assert Her Dominance
Chapter 93 Assert Her Dominance
\[Gianna’s POV\]
I watch Grant as he steps into his grandfather’s room and when he turns to give me a look of reassurance, I simply nod.
Go on, I think, watching him. Go and see him.
It is clear that he is worried. The way that he is acting is plenty enough proof of that, and I could only hope that things weren’t too bad and that whatever ailment he was dealing with would be cured soon.
Once Grant disappears, I turn my gaze to the two who stand silently beside me and realize that I was now alone with my enemy.
Dammit. I think as Rachel’s gaze slowly trails down my body, clearly sizing me up. Maybe I should have tried to go with Grant, but since I didn’t, I would have to play nice for now.
“Rachel, was it?” I ask, deciding to break the silence first. “It’s good to see you again.”
“Is it?” She asks, making it clear she has no intention of playing nice. “I’m afraid I can’t say the same…what was your name again?”
“Gianna,” I smile. “My name is Gianna.”
“Gianna,” she repeats, crossing her arms. “Tell me, what exactly are you intentions with Grant?”
Jumping right into the interrogation, I see. I think before turning my gaze to Grant’s father.
“Sir, I do apologize for us springing such a thing on you out of nowhere.”
“Are you?” Grant’s father asks me and I flinch at how cold his voice is. “Does that mean that you know how inappropriate your being together is?”
I bite back on my initial response because honestly I want to ask this bastard what is so bad about me and Grant being together, but I know that will only cause his anger to grow and right now, I didn’t want to deal with it.
“I’m afraid I don’t agree with what you’ve just said.”
“You don’t?” He asks, raising a brow. “Then what exactly do you think?”
“Well,” I begin, taking in the two in front of me. “I think if Grant chose me to be his wife then that should be enough, no?”
I understood how their world worked. I knew that a mere model wasn’t enough to stand beside a future CEO, but even then, it didn’t matter did it?
This marriage is only temporary.
Once the year timeline came we would part ways, but until then, I needed to play along nicely.
“I love your son and he loves me.” I continue sweetly. “And because of that, we decided to be together.”
“Love,” Grant’s father spits. “Do you think that there is any place for love in Grant’s life? Don’t you know that your marrying him will ruin him?”
Do you care about that? I wonder as I see a small flash of expectancy.
It was clear that Grant and his father’s relationship wasn’t good and because of that, I would have to keep my guard up around this man.
“And what about Rachel?” His father continues. “Do you have any idea how long she has stayed beside Grant?”
“And?”
Was that supposed to give her automatic claim? If Grant didn’t want her, then he didn’t want her, and there was nothing for me to feel guilty about.
“We were set to marry,” Rachel whimpers, falling into her role well. “We promised each other that when we were adults we would marry.”
“And yet you didn’t, even when both of you reached your thirties. Doesn’t that mean that it wasn’t meant to be?”
“Watch it,” Rachel growls. “Who are you to say such things to me?”
“Grant’s wife,” I respond with a smile. “And as his wife, I have the right to put any bitch who attempts to try to cuddle up to him in her place.”
“You…”Rachel stammers, clearly shocked that a mere peasant would step up to her. “You…”
She begins to shake as her cheeks flush with anger and when she lifts a hand and I’m certain I’m going to get hit, the door behind us opens and the man in question moves out.
“What’s going on here?” He asks, looking from Rachel to me.
For a moment, no one answers as I’m certain shock of Grant’s perfect timing settles in.
“Gr-grant,” Rachel stammers, her hand remaining in the air beside her. “We were…we were just…” she pulls the hand down and hides it behind her back. “We were just…”
“Your wife was starting trouble with Rachel.” Grant’s father finishes for her. “Why on earth would you ever agree to marry such a woman?”
“Such a woman,” Grant repeats. “And what kind of woman do you think she is?”
As he speaks, he pulls a protective arm around me and pulls me against his side. The minute our bodies mesh together and his warmth seeps into me, I immediately start to relax.
“Did they something to upset you?” He asks, giving me a look of concern. “If they did, I will make sure to make them pay.”
“They didn’t,” I tell him because I can see it in his eyes. He is completely serious about his promise and I didn’t want him to have to do such a thing. Instead, I just wanted to leave, but I was certain it wouldn’t be that simple of an action.
“I’m fine,” I tell him. “We were just talking and I overstepped I guess.”
Well, it wouldn’t hurt to play damsel a bit to get back at Rachel, right?
“I was just saying how inappropriate it was for Rachel to try to lay claim on my husband right in front of me and she…”
“Grant!” Rachel gasps. “I didn’t! I would never!”
“But you would.” Grant tells her and I smirk. “I know you well enough to know your character Rachel so you can drop the act. It’s about time that you stopped overstepping boundaries. I made it clear a long time ago that I had no interest in ever marrying you, so it is about time that you dropped that delusion.”
“Grant!” Grant’s father roars. “How can you…”
“If you want her to be part of our family so bad,” Grant snaps, taking me by surprise. “Then why don’t you marry her? Or better yet,” he continues and I can see the darkness settling on his handsome features. “Why don’t you take her in as a mistress. You two are always together anyway.”
