Chapter 167 The Enemy Was Watching
Skyler POV
The time stretched long, but the healer wasn't yet out, I could no longer wait, so I tried opening the door but Brandon stopped me .
He held my hand “ Luna I know you're scared” he said “ we all are, but the healer specifically asked that no one comes into the room till he is done”
“ But , I want to know how Devin is” I cried, fresh tears dropping out from my eyes “ I can't be calm , till I know my Devon is ok”
Just then the healer opened the door, his face was drained and his body looked tired
“ How did it go?” Beta Brandon asked him
“ That the Alpha wasn't dead before I came was by the goddess mercy” the healer said “ he was stabbed on his side six times each , with four of these, very deep.”
The healer's words managed to bring back the tears that I had already stopped
“ It's ok Luna, he is fine now” he said “ I have stitched up all his wounds, and applied herbs to them, but I don't know when the Alpha would wake up , because he lost a lot of blood.”
“ Can I go see him, now?” I asked
“ Yes , you can but you would have to be careful for the next few days, to avoid infecting the wounds, and always apply this medicines on them” he said
I nodded my head “ Thank you so much , healer” I said with tears in my eyes
I didn't wait for his reply, as I opened the door and entered the room, closing the door behind me.
The room was filled with the scent of herbs and I could see a little lamp lighter on the bedside table.I climbed slowly onto the bed ,making sure I wasn't touching any of his injuries.
I kissed him on the forehead and placing mine on his as I sobbed gently.
“ I was so scared today” I said “ I thought I would lose you today, I thought that the priestess lied that my curse was cured, and it had come for you today”
I raised my head from his and gently patted his head, I could feel the pain he felt , my Devon was going through all this .
“ Do not play with me like this next time” I said softly "what made you think you could just die on me like that”.
Just then there was a knock on the door, I gathered myself and cleaned my tears “ come in” I finally said
Beta Brandon walked into the room, “ How is he, Luna”
“ I really don't know,” I said “ he is out of danger but we can't really know how well he is till he wakes up”.
He nodded his head and stood there contemplating. I could see him trying to decide
“ Just say it” I finally said , breaking the awkward silence.
“ Only one member of the group, is still alive , the others died fighting “ he said
“ And how is that my business?” I said anger bubbling inside me
“ The last member of the group is Lisa” he said
I finally looked up from caressing Devon's hair , and looked at him “ Devon's Lisa” I asked filled with shock
“The Alpha's ex . Lisa.” he replied.
I stood up immediately “ where is she” I asked moving to the door
“ She's back at the dungeon,” he replied.
I went straight to the dungeon, to confront her , but I was met with an unresponsive Lisa. She didn't acknowledge my presence, or reply to anything I said . She looked soulless and completely broken . She just kept staring into space , her eyes focused .
“ What's wrong with her” I asked the guards
“ We don't know Luna , since we caught her she had been like this” one of the guards replied.
I left the dungeon, and promised myself to come see her another day, but for now Devon was of utmost importance.
It had already been four days since that incident and Devon had not woken up , his breathing was even, and I've been meticulously applying the medicine to his injuries but he had still not woken up.
The council wanted to know how their Alpha was faring, so I told Beta Brandon to pass any information they needed to them. I couldn't risk leaving Devon vulnerable with anybody, especially with those from the council , I don't trust any of them after this attack.
“ Devon, pls wake up” I said gently as I cleaned his body with warm water and a washcloth “Don't you miss your sky, don't you want to see me”
After cleaning him up , I went to the bathroom. As I poured the water into the sink, I looked at my neck in the mirror, it had healed, but a tiny scar was still there. After keeping the bowl and the washcloth, I went back into the room to be with Devon.
Just then , there was a knock on the door
“ Come in” I said after a pause
Beta Brandon walked in with a letter in hand, he closed the door behind him
“ Luna” he greeted with a slight bow
“ What can I help you with” I asked
“ There is a letter that needs the Alpha urgent attention” he said with his eyes downcast “ but since he is indisposed, I brought the letter for you”
“ Who is the letter from” I asked calmly
After a slight pause he answered “ from the Blue moon pack”
“Killian”I said instinctively, getting up immediately to collect the letter from him
“ Yes , Luna” he replied
“ What does it say?” I asked, trying to calm myself down as I took the letter.
“ The deliverer specifically said it was for just the Alpha's eyes or his Luna” he replied “ and that it was a matter of political urgency”
“ Thank you,so much” I said with a smile “ you can go now”
He bowed his head and left , closing the door behind him
I finally opened the letter , and the first sentence sounded serious and funny at the same time
“ Who reads a letter aloud?” I muttered to myself.
The smile on my face faded as I read through the letter, it was more dangerous than I imagined. So it watches our every move.
“ Are you okay?” I heard from the bed.
