Chapter 168 Where Mercy Ended
Skylar's POV

I turned around just to find Devon trying to Sit up

“ What are you trying to do?”I said as I ran to his side “ you can't get up right now.

“ Do you want to open your wounds” I scolded

“its ok ,I'm good” he managed to get out

I knew he was still in pain, I could feel the pain he was experiencing at his sides

“Liar” I retorted “I can feel the pain at your sides”.

He tried removing the hands I placed on his stomach.

“No” I said shaking my head “ let me be with you”

He finally left my hand, “ why were you worried earlier”

His questions brought back all the unpleasant things I read in Killian's letter

“ Nothing really” I lied. “ I was just worried that you hadn't woken up since.

“ I'm fine now , you don't need to worry yourself anymore” he said

“ Hmm” I replied with tears threatening to spill from my eyes “ I just missed you a lot”

“ I missed you too,sky” he said

“ Let me see your neck” he quickly added “ I almost forgot that, that jerk cut you with a knife”

“It wasn't that serious” I said showing him my neck “ see, I have healed”

He accessed my neck carefully “ but there is a little scar there” he said with a frown.

“ It will fade with time,” I reassured.

We held ourselves for a while, before I got up wanting to share the good news with Beta Brandon, I ordered one of the guards stationed just outside our room to call Beta a Brandon.

After a few minutes, there was a knock on the door

“ Come in” I said excitedly

Beta Brandon stepped into the room and greeted me “Luna” he said with a slight bow . He finally noticed Devon on the bed, he turned to him with a big smile on his face and greeted “ Alpha” he said with a bow “ you're finally awake.”

“ We were all worried sick” he continued “ especially the Luna”

I smiled a little “And I'll punish him for making us worry for him” I said

Beta Brandon laughed nervously, imagining if anyhow could punish the Alpha

“ Arrange for a council meeting, in the next half hour I said sternly “ I'll be heading it.”

“ Yes Luna” he replied , leaving immediately to carry out my orders.

I turned back to Devon and kissed him on his forehead “I'll be back soon , let me go take care of some matters” I said “ guards are stationed just outside the room, call them if you need anything.”

Then I paused and then said through the mind link “ or better still call me”

“ Yes my Luna” he teased “ we will talk about this new found gift once you're back

“ Sure,” I replied as I left the room.

“ The Alpha is awake” I told the guards just outside the room

Their faces were filled with bright smiles

“ Yes Luna” they replied

“ Be attentive and listen ,Incase he calls on you.”

“ Yes Luna” they replied.

I headed for the dungeons first , I had not gone to see Lisa after that night , and today at the council meeting, I plan on giving her a befitting punishment”.

When I got to the door of the dungeon the guards stationed there greeted me and I smiled at them.

I couldn't feel the hostility from the guards recently, not just them , I had not felt it from any of the pack members in a while, whatever Devon said at his last meeting, really touched the packs heart.

When I got to the barred space , which was Lisa's room the key was heavily secured with a big chain

She had lost a lot of weight in the last few days, her hair was disheveled and she looked so unkempt. She was staring at the wall,her eyes red with tears and the skin around it darker.

Her eyeballs looked sunken in while her eyes were swollen, I don't know if she had been crying because they were caught or because they didn't succeed

“ Lisa” I called her

She gently turned from the wall to me and when she saw it was me, she stood up and came to the bars. I shifted back instinctively.

“ Do I still have the strength to hurt you?” she said with a weak laugh

“ I don't know” I replied at once “ I mean you tried to kill the man you claimed to love.”

“ I stopped loving Devon , long before I came back ” She said with a bitter smile “i just wanted to be Luna, but now I truly lost the one I loved”

“ Who?” I asked “ Jason?”

She shook her head slowly with tears streaming down her face “ No, Roland” she said “ they stabbed him.”

“ The one, who begged for your freedom” I asked again

“ Yes that one” sh said “ we would have led a beautiful life

I couldn't bring myself to feel pity for her, she had put me through hell, since she returned to the palace, she had even put me in trouble with the council, and even tried to take Devon's life

“ That's his Karma, you guys tried to kill Devon” I said exasperated “ you almost succeeded”

“ Why didn't Devon go with them?” she said looking into my eyes  “ I don't mind dying, but I wanted you to feel the pain.”

“ It all started with you” she continued” your presence ruins lives, not just mine, a girl lost her only surviving family because of you”

Her last sentence rang a bell in my head , “ who lost someone because of me” I asked

She refused to say anything else and turned back to the wall.

All my questions after that fell on deaf ears, after standing there for a while, I left preparing for the council meeting.
