Chapter 50 - Deal

Chapter 50 - Deal
~Author’s POV~

“Are you blushing?” Harriet asked, her lips curling up in amusement as she stared at Rael's reddened face. At the moment he looked so much like a tomato. A very handsome tomato. A chuckle escaped her lips, making the man's eyes change. There it was again, her dahlia dimple. Rare, but beautiful.

He shut his eyes before opening it again, staring at Harriet with an unfathomable emotion in them.

“Get out,” he muttered, turning to stare in front of him. Harriet paused for a moment, unsure if she had angered him, but it was at that moment she realized they had arrived in front of the Anderson family mansion.

She smiled before planting a kiss on Rael's cheek and running off. Kai, who saw this pretended to see nothing and started the car, driving off.

Meanwhile, Harriet had just entered the family mansion, her face turning deadpan in an instant before she stepped into the living room. This family did not deserve her smile at all.

She had just entered when she caught sight of Mr Anderson on a couch, Miranda having a pedicure, and Kylie busy on her phone. They looked like the perfect trio. Her father even looked refreshed. Even after kicking her out of the house a month ago. She almost laughed at herself.

“You've arrived?”

“Mhmm,” she hummed without saying anything more. Soon, lunch was served. The whole table was quiet even for the clinking of utensils as they ate.

Harriet had lost her appetite from having Kylie glare at her all through. She decided she was going to get to the point.

“Why exactly did you call me here?” She asked, taking a gentle sip of her apple juice.

Mr Anderson stared at his daughter who seemed almost unrecognizable, feeling as though something was crawling on his skin.

“Here, have some onion, it's your favorite, right?” the man muttered, hurriedly putting some on her plate. She stared at it with so much amusement. Even her own father did not remember she was allergic to onions.

“This is Kylie's favorite, not mine.” She muttered, making the man pause. Meanwhile, Kylie's lips threatened to curl up. After all, she was father's favorite.

“Ah…well…let's forget about it. I just wanted to talk about the company. Harriet, we could really use Rael's help. Since you're close to him and he even brought you to the hospital…Maybe you can have him invest?”

“No,” came Harriet's reply, completely losing her appetite. Once again, this man had reminded her of the reality that she had no family.

“You…it's your own mother's company, how can you let it die! How heartless can you be?” Miranda yelled, slapping the table harshly. Harriet’s lips curled up.

“You all agree it's my mother's company. Then why not agree to sell her shares to me,”

“I can't do that,” Mr Anderson muttered, his eyes grave. He had already sold the shares, thinking it could stop the company from going bankrupt, but apparently, his plan failed. Not only was the company going bankrupt, but he also lost the money.

Harriet looked perplexed.

“Why?”

“I already sold the shares,” he replied, making Harriet's eyes widen. Her father had sold her mother's shares? To someone else?

Miranda heard this and couldn't be bothered if he sold it or not. The most important thing was that Harriet did not own them.

“But so what if I sold them, can't you help the company now that you can?” Mr Anderson asked, making Harriet stared at him as though he had grown two heads. Was this man really her father? He couldn't sell the shares to her, but he could sell it to someone else. She chuckled before rising to her feet.

“I can't help you,” she muttered, walking towards the door.

“You, get back here! You ungrateful daughter! How did I birth such an ungrateful human being? I should have left you to die in the countryside,” Mr Anderson’s voice blared, cursing Harriet just like he did at the hospital the last time, but just like this time, she didn't bother to say anything and just walked out. She felt her anger blare, the veins in her head almost popping. It was true that after her mother passed away, her father had sent her to the countryside to stay for a couple of years. When she turned 15, he brought her back to continue studying.

Just then, a call came through her phone. When she saw the caller, she froze for a bit before answering.

“Boss, I'm in the country. I need your help!” A young lad’s voice pierced through the phone, yet, it didn't sound like someone she didn't know. In fact, she knew this person very well.

In 30 minutes, she arrived at a well-known racing track in country M.

Just then, she spotted a young man clad in a racing suit rushing over. Half his face was covered by a mask just like every other racer, making them unable to recognize. Yet she recognized his eyes and his blue colored hair.

“What's up?” She casually asked, making Simon's eyes well with tears.

“How dare you ask what's up. You fuckin' left without a trace. If it wasn't for my amazing skills, I would have never found you. You have to help me race this time. My money is on the line…wuwu,” he sobbed dramatically, making Harriet roll her eyes. Simon had briefed her on how he'd been asked on a race. He has bet all his money on winning. It wasn't until he realized what the doctor had told him three days ago that he finally came to his senses. He couldn't race for the time being. Seeing the situation, he could only call Harriet.

She quickly changed into a racing suit, covering half her face in a mask as she tied up her hair in a messy bun. When the opponent saw Harriet, he laughed.

“You called your little sister to save you? How pathetic,”

“You–” Simon was about to lash out but was pulled back by Harriet.

From the corner of her eyes, she spotted a car in the pit lane. Her gaze hardened immediately.

“To make things easier for you, I'll use that car,” she muttered, pointing to an old car, making everyone burst into laughter.

“Are you kidding me? That car is old as hell and isn't even a new model. A fuckin’ Mazda Mx-5. Hey, you're really in for a loss,” the opponent, Charlie muttered to Simon, but the latter seemed completely calm.

“And if I win, not only will you pay up, but run around chanting ‘girls are the best,” Harriet calmly stated, making Charlie smile. This young girl was really amusing, thinking she could beat him with an old modelled car. He'd been racing for a decade and not once had anyone beat him in this area. Not only had this blue-haired guy challenged him, but also brought a little girl around, wanting to embarrass him. He was going to see who would cry in the end.

“Deal,”
