Chapter 182 : Battle Against Lilith 1

Chapter 182 : Battle Against Lilith 1
Rayline.

Chaos broke out in a split second. Before I could even see his movements, Cole was already whizzing over to Lilith. The blazes lining the entire wall burst with the sudden increase in heat, forcing me to lift my arms to protect myself.

Screaming and roaring could be heard clearly as Cole furiously swung his claws at her while she quickly dodged out of his reach. Lilith sent a wave of fire that blasted across the room, scorching the air around her, which made Cole lift his wings and throw them off to the side. I ducked down to avoid the lick of flame that shot out when I heard my name being called. As I turned my head, I caught sight of Taylor staring at me, tugging on the enchanted chains that held both him and Jesse, and without thinking, I jumped to my feet and slid towards them.

In another corner of the room, Levi and the other demons were too distracted with helping their leader to focus on me, in addition to the battle that was going on inside the room.

Once I reached Taylor and Jesse's side, I looked at their tightly chained wrists. "Are you alright?" he asked, his voice filled with concern.

"I'm fine. We need to get you and Jesse out of these." I glanced up and watched as Cole was knocked to the side, and he landed on all fours, his fangs bared.

"He is not going to be able to hold out on his own." Taylor said, a hint of concern filling every word.

It was then that my gaze fell on the discarded sacred sword dropped by Cole. Without hesitation, I crawled to pick it up, feeling its weight in my hand.

"Do you think this will work?" I asked while looking at Taylor.

"It's worth giving it a shot. Just don't cut my arm off."

I gritted my teeth, lifted the sword, and stabbed it through the latch of the chain binding him to it. Making Taylor's eyes snap shut in a wince. The sound of metal rings in the room, which makes Lilith's head snap in my direction, causing panic to sweep through.

Then she lifted her hand and took a step towards me. "You little... ah!" However, before she could get close, her body was kicked hard by Cole, being knocked to the side and hitting the stone wall with a force that stopped her steps.

"Your fight is with me," Cole snarled, his fiery red eyes growing brighter, daring.

The amused look that had appeared earlier was now faded, and a darkness washed over Lilith's face. A wave of magic sent Cole flying back again, and he winced as he hit the ground, holding his shoulder.

Wasting no time, I went back to focusing on the chain, trying my hardest to get it off as fast as I can, without even looking at the battle going on behind me.

After what feels like an eternity, the latch snapped, and Taylor ripped one chain off.

"Alright, now—" My words were cut off as Cole landed hard beside me, his body writhing in pain, groaning. "Cole!" I hurriedly turned to help him, looking at the blood oozing from his wound.

"I'm fine," he said pantingly out of breath.

He then whipped around to face Lilith, who had dark flames swirling around her hand. "What's wrong? Done already?" She asked tauntingly, while Cole wiped the blood from his lips, glancing briefly at me, as if to make sure I was okay before facing the next blow.

The throbbing came so sharply, followed by a searing pain in my shoulder. It feels like a fire creeping under my skin, and I unconsciously place a hand over the rune mark, squeezing it as I grimace in pain.

"Rayline!"

The intense sensation felt like it was on fire, causing my whole body to collapse in agonizing pain as I began to scream. I could not move, and I could not hear anything except what sounded like Cole's voice and my screams. I dug my nails into my skin, curling into a ball on the floor as I cried out in pain.

But all of a sudden, it stopped. The pain just vanished, and I could feel fresh air rush into my lungs. I gasped for air, trying to calm myself down.

There were sounds of growling and thrashing. As I turned my head, tears streamed down my cheeks, as I spotted a blurred black silhouette that was fighting... a demon.

Then I twisted my head, seeing that Taylor had finally managed to rip the second chain off with gritted teeth. He leaned over me, his mouth moving, saying something as he brushed my hair to the side. But I could not hear him. Everything was muffled, as if I was underwater.

He then stepped back.

"Ty?" I called softly, and he stared at me for a moment before disappearing into the shadows.

I took a deep breath before lifting my head, once, twice, trying to calm myself, and my senses came back.

There, Cole was in full demon form, fighting a fierce battle with Lilith. Her hands had grown into large claws, larger than those of any other boys I had ever seen and her wings were stretched out, they were enormous.

"Cole," I whispered, looking at the blood on his body. He was raging, I could practically see the anger radiating from him as he tried to slash at her, but her power kept sending him back.

Then I turned towards Jesse, who, like Taylor, was doing everything he could to break the chains. I managed to stand up and rushed to his side.

"Ray, you need to get out of here and away from her," Jesse said.

"It doesn't matter where I am, she can still kill me," I replied, wiping away the tears that were still streaming down my face.

I turned around to pick up the sword, but it was gone. Shit.

On the other side of the room, Lilith gripped Cole's side with her large claws and slashed, causing him to roar in pain. His blood spurted out from the wound he had suffered.

By the end, Cole shifted back, his features coming into view as he held his side, then Lilith sent him flying into the stone wall, landing right next to me and Jesse.

"Cole," I called along with Jesse as he lifted himself up, trying to stand.

"Jesse..." he panted, and their eyes met before he lowered his weight. His wings were spread out, covering Jesse's body from his mother's view as she made her way closer.

"Ready to give in?" asked Lilith scornfully. "You finally use those gifts that were wasted on you?"
