Chapter 63 Stealing a Kiss from Steven

Chapter 63 Stealing a Kiss from Steven

He stared at her hard for a moment, then turned and walked out of the Riverside Apartment.

Nora patted her chest.

That night, Steven came back in the middle of the night again.

When Nora woke up the next day, she saw Steven lying on the living room sofa without even a thin blanket covering him.

Had he been in the cold air all night like this?

His cough wasn't even better yet, and now he was exposing himself to cold air again. Did he have a death wish?

Nora still felt sorry for him.

After all, Steven was her creditor. She was living in his apartment - she couldn't just watch him treat himself this badly.

She went to get a thin blanket from the bedroom and quietly covered him with it.

Steven had his eyes closed. His nose bridge was high and straight, his lips were thin but beautifully shaped and sexy.

When he was asleep, his eyelashes looked long, his face looked harmless, his presence was peaceful - much gentler than when he was awake.

Nora stared at him without blinking.

Steven was really good-looking.

Before she knew it, Nora's heart was beating faster again.

Even though Steven was getting divorced and she couldn't let herself fall for him anymore, being this close to him, she still couldn't help liking him... After squatting there watching him for more than ten minutes, when she tried to get up, her feet had gone numb.

She'd been squatting too long. She couldn't stand up, lost her balance, fell toward Steven, and then... her lips landed right on his!

Steven's eyes flew open. His large hand grabbed her hand, his eyes full of wariness. "What are you doing?"

Nora panicked completely and tried to get off him in a hurry.

But he was gripping her hand tight - she couldn't get away at all.

She was totally flustered. "I'm sorry, Steven, I was just trying to cover you with a blanket..."

Steven held her hand and looked at the blanket on himself. There was indeed a blanket there.

"You were covering me with a blanket - why did you kiss me?" He stared at her, embarrassed, helpless face.

"I didn't, I just fell, I'm sorry..." She didn't dare say she'd been squatting there, secretly watching him for more than ten minutes.

"What exactly do you want?" Steven frowned. Yesterday she was so cold, today she was secretly kissing him - what did she want?

And she hadn't even given him the cookies!

"I don't want anything. I really was just covering you with a blanket." How could she dare have feelings for him?

She knew he wanted to marry a rich beauty. She wouldn't be foolish enough to compare herself to rich beauties. She didn't have a good family background, and couldn't help Steven climb the ladder.

Elite men mostly had ambition - she understood that!

"Why did you cover me with a blanket?" Steven still wouldn't let her go and kept asking.

Nora's hand was held by him; they were very close. She had to lower her head and say, "I was afraid you'd catch a cold. You were coughing a couple of days ago, and you're still not better."

"What's that got to do with you?"

Nora's pupils shrank.

Yeah, what did it have to do with her? She was worried about him catching a cold, so she covered him with a blanket, and it just made him unhappy.

Nora didn't say anything.

Steven lifted her chin, his gray pupils looking into her dejected eyes. Why was she dejected?

"You covered me with a blanket and kissed me - what exactly do you want?" Was she trying to make up with him?

Nora said quietly, "I really wasn't trying to kiss you, I fell. As for covering you with a blanket, I'm grateful to you, thank you for lending me money and letting me live here. You're a good person."

Steven didn't like these words. He narrowed his eyes.

She felt Steven wasn't very happy, so she added, "More than three months ago, I had nowhere to go, dragging my luggage down the street. You helped me out of a tight spot, so in my heart, I see you as my benefactor."

"You see me as your benefactor?" Hearing this, Steven's eyes went cold, showing no emotion at all.

"Yes, Steven, I see you as my benefactor." She looked at him very sincerely.

Steven wanted to strangle her.

After a moment, he let go of her hand, his voice icy. "Get lost."

Nora immediately ran back to her room.

She closed the door and leaned her back against it, looking dejected.

Work time.

Nora didn't have time to feel sad. She continued working on yesterday's order. She needed to call the market first to ask about prices, then fill in the prices, then go report the quote to Duke's side.

The order was still just at the quote stage; she hadn't actually closed it yet. She was racing against time, wanting to close the deal quickly.

"You've been so busy lately?" During lunch break, Amelia asked her while drinking coffee. "Did you close those two clients who came to the company yesterday?"

"Yes." Nora told her quietly, "That client who came to our company yesterday gave me an order."

Nora showed the document to Amelia. Amelia's eyes lit up. "An order worth hundreds of thousands of dollars - not bad! Apex Technologies Corporation doesn't even have ten clients this good."

"I really hope I can close it," Nora said with a smile.

Philip saw the two of them in the break room and came in to ask Nora, "Nora, what did those two people want with you last night?"

"To talk business." Nora's eyes were smiling.

Philip was silent for a moment. "Do you like that assistant?"

"No, I don't." How could she like someone after just one meeting? Nora's expression was strange. "I don't even know him."

Hearing this, Philip felt relieved.

But Andrew's visit this time was clearly to pursue Nora. Philip was a bit worried.

In the afternoon, Nora had almost finished the quote. She closed the file and went to the bathroom.

Bianca saw her making calls yesterday and today, and thought she must have closed those two clients from yesterday. She swayed over, moved her finger, and opened the file on Nora's desk. Seeing the order inside, Bianca's eyes went wide.

This bitch!

She got a big order worth hundreds of thousands of dollars!

Bianca's face darkened as she thought for a moment. She didn't say anything, closed the file, and walked to Terry's office.

"Terry! Nora seems to have gotten a big client." Bianca looked annoyed. Willie had been yelling at her lately, so Bianca didn't dare go to Willie anymore.

Terry had come back from the hospital yesterday. He sat at his desk, taking stomach medicine. "A big client? How much is the order?"

"I think this order should be worth over 400,000 dollars." Although Bianca wasn't very skilled, she could roughly see the price.

Terry's eyes immediately lit up. "Didn't expect her to have some luck. That crappy little shop actually got such a good order."

Bianca said, "Are we just going to let her make that money?"

Terry thought for a moment. "Has she closed the order yet?"

"Seems like it's still in the quote stage."

Terry thought about it and whispered a few words in Bianca's ear. "Let her take it first, let her work on it, and when she closes it..."

After hearing Terry's words, Bianca's face lit up with joy. "Great!"

Nora marked the prices on the quote and took a photo to send to Andrew. Andrew didn't reply.

Nora looked at the time - it was already six o'clock, so she packed up her things and went home.

When she got home, no one was there. She took off her coat and went to the kitchen to cook.

She had just started preparing vegetables when Steven came home.

His perfect figure was still in a sharp suit, handsome and charming.

Nora glanced at him, remembering how he'd gone hungry the night before last when she didn't cook. She casually asked, "Should I make dinner for you?"

Steven took off his shoes and coldly replied, "No need!"
