Chapter 39 Intimate Like Her Husband
Olivia did it on purpose!
Hazel didn't dare to say anything, just stomping her feet in frustration.
As long as Olivia held the title of Willie's wife, Hazel would always be the hidden mistress. If she caused a scene, no one would feel sorry for her if she got slapped.
Olivia walked into the office.
Willie was staring at his computer, barely looking up at her. "What are you doing here?"
"Can't I come see you?" Olivia placed a cup of coffee next to Willie.
"You should be resting at home with that big belly of yours. If something happens, who's gonna take responsibility?" Willie's message was clear: stay home and don't risk anything. If anything happened to the baby, it would be Olivia's fault.
Olivia's eyes lowered slightly.
She wanted to have a good life with Willie, but his words were becoming increasingly harsh, filled with blame.
When the heart grows distant, there's nothing left to say.
After spending a few moments in the office, Olivia left.
She walked out of the company with a smile, but it faded as she reached the door.
She pulled a handmade embroidered charm from her purse.
She had found this charm in Willie's car yesterday when he picked her up, hanging from the rearview mirror.
The pink and blue embroidered charm was carefully handcrafted, something Willie wouldn't have bought. He didn't have the time for such things.
Olivia had a feeling Willie had a mistress.
This charm was a gift from the mistress.
No wonder Willie had been so cold to her lately; his heart had strayed.
The elevator reached the first floor.
Olivia stepped out, her pregnant belly leading the way, and bumped into a tall man.
Caught off guard, she stumbled backward.
Thinking of her unborn child, she was terrified!
A hand grabbed her fingers, spinning her into a man's embrace.
"Are you okay?" The man's pleasant voice reached her ears.
Olivia regained her composure and looked up. The man had a handsome face, probably around thirty, with a refined and cool demeanor.
Olivia, still in his arms, was shaken. "I almost fell."
Alton Bridges, seeing her pregnant belly, asked gently, "Do you need to go to the hospital for a check-up?"
"No, I didn't fall, just got a scare." Olivia patted her chest and stepped away from him.
"It's best to get checked out. If anything's wrong, I'd feel guilty." Without waiting for her response, Alton led her to his Rolls-Royce Phantom.
Olivia felt uneasy. "Sorry for the trouble."
Going to the hospital for a check-up wasn't a bad idea. She had a prenatal appointment tomorrow, so she could get it done today.
Alton took her to a renowned private hospital.
Grace Private Hospital.
Olivia hesitated to get out of the car. "This hospital is really expensive."
She had heard that giving birth here cost $80,000.
Her living expenses were only a couple of thousand dollars a month, and she relied on insurance for prenatal visits. She couldn't afford this hospital.
Alton smiled. "Don't worry about the cost. I'll cover the expenses since I bumped into you."
This hospital was owned by the Bridges Group.
Alton led her inside.
Olivia felt uncomfortable everywhere. A nurse asked her, "Hello, Miss. Do you have your prenatal check-up book with you?"
"Yes." Olivia always carried it in her purse.
The nurse opened it, and Alton glanced at it. Olivia, 30 weeks pregnant.
"You're due for a 3D ultrasound. Would you like to do it here?" The nurse asked with a smile.
Olivia was about to refuse, but Alton answered for her. "Yeah, let's do it."
Olivia was taken aback.
The nurse led her to the ultrasound room.
Experiencing a private hospital for the first time, Olivia was amazed by the level of service. In public hospitals, it was always crowded, and prenatal visits took up an entire day. Waiting two hours for a five-minute check-up, and more tests meant spending the whole day there.
But at this private hospital, everything was smooth and efficient.
Olivia's check-up lasted half an hour. The doctor smiled and said, "The baby is very healthy. Here are the baby's eyes, nose, and mouth. Looks a lot like you,"
Seeing the detailed ultrasound, Olivia felt a wave of happiness.
After the check-up, the nurse led Olivia to a sofa to wait. Alton was nearby, looking at his phone. When he saw her return, he smiled. "How did it go?"
"The baby is very healthy." Olivia beamed with joy.
Alton looked at her for a moment, then casually glanced at her prenatal book. "There are still two more tests."
Olivia felt a bit awkward. He was flipping through her prenatal book like he was her husband.
At the same time, she felt a stir within her.
So this is what it feels like to have a husband accompany you to prenatal visits.
Olivia had always been alone for her check-ups. From the moment she decided to have a baby, she had been going to the hospital by herself.
Taking medication, getting pregnant, receiving injections to protect the pregnancy, and monthly check-ups—Willie had never been there for her. Once, she fainted from low blood sugar at the hospital, and a nurse had to help her to a bed to rest.
Some tests required the father's presence, but Willie always used work as an excuse to avoid them.
She envied those pregnant women who had their husbands with them.
She had never experienced such care.
"Ms. Adams, please sit here." Alton directed Olivia to a seat and called a nurse to draw her blood.
Olivia was puzzled. "Don't I need to go to the blood draw area?"
"No need. We have staff who will come to you for blood draws and bring the results. Pregnant women at our hospital just need to sit and wait." Wealthy people choose expensive private hospitals for their efficiency and service.
Olivia nodded. "Private hospitals are indeed nice."
Alton smiled slightly and asked the nurse to bring milk. "Ms. Adams, this is pure milk, suitable for pregnant women."
"Thank you." Olivia took it, surprised that it was warm.
This hospital was considerate. She took a sip.
Meeting this stranger for the first time, Olivia experienced what it felt like to have a husband accompany her during pregnancy. It felt really good.
After work.
Hazel angrily carried her ruined LV bag to the parking lot to complain to Willie.
Nora quietly followed her.
She was determined to catch Willie cheating for Olivia!
"Willie, look at what your wife did to my bag!" Hazel stomped her feet in anger.
Willie hugged her. "It's just some spilled coffee. It can be cleaned."
"Why are you defending her?" Hazel was furious. This was her first designer bag, and Olivia had ruined it on the first day!
"I'm just trying to calm you down. How about I take you to a fancy restaurant tonight?" Willie coaxed her with a smile.
Nora snapped a photo. Though a bit blurry, she captured the moment before they got into the car and drove away.
