Chapter 201 Do You Really Want to Be with Him?
In the afternoon, two workers arrived at the company entrance and started installing a digital lock.
Nora walked out and asked in confusion, "Excuse me, what are you doing?"
One of them replied, "Mr. York sent us to install the digital lock."
Nora was a bit surprised, "Steven sent you?"
"Yes." The two continued installing while they talk.
Nora didn't refuse, thinking that with a digital lock, people wouldn't be able to come and go freely anymore. She planned to pay the workers herself later.
After installing the digital lock, the two men wanted to come in and help her assemble the shelving units.
Nora hesitated for a moment, but still nodded in agreement. After all, she couldn't assemble the shelves by herself, and having help was always a good thing.
She turned to attend to her own tasks, sitting at the computer to check the online store data.
On the other side, Steven walked into his own office and turned to ask Clarence, "How's the cooperation with Apex Technologies Corporation going?"
Clarence replied, "They've already sent a quote, but we never responded. I thought we weren't doing this project anymore."
Steven narrowed his eyes and instructed, "Continue working with them and arrange a meeting with Terry. I heard he likes playing cards, so you guys should play a few rounds with him."
Clarence didn't quite understand Steven's meaning and asked tentatively, "Do you need him to lose money?"
A cold glint flashed in Steven's eyes, with a smile at the corner of his mouth, "Let him win a bit first, then you know what to do later."
"Should we let him owe about three million dollars?" Clarence asked.
Steven nodded with satisfaction and patted his shoulder, "I'll double your year-end bonus."
Clarence understood and thanked him with a smile.
Making Terry owe three million dollars would be enough to leave him with no way out.
Jimmy stormed into Golden Tower and went straight to Apex Technologies Corporation to find Terry.
Willie wasn't at the company.
At that moment, Terry had just received a call from York Development Group. He had thought this big deal was off, but unexpectedly, a month later, they agreed to his quote.
Terry was grinning from ear to ear, "It's our honor to work with York Development Group. Tonight, Apex Technologies Corporation will host dinner for everyone."
After hanging up, he was in a great mood. This order was worth tens of millions of dollars, with a profit of one or two million dollars alone. Landing this deal meant he wouldn't have to worry about this year's performance.
However, he felt unwilling to just make money for Willie.
He glanced at Willie's office, found no one there, and started scheming. If he could pocket this deal for himself, all the money would be his. After all, he was the only one managing the company now; those sisters weren't around, and Willie was often away from the company, so he had the final say on many things.
While he was thinking, Jimmy suddenly burst through the door with a fierce expression.
Terry still asked with a smile, "Jimmy, did Olivia and Nora agreed to give you money?"
Jimmy punched him right in the nose and cursed, "Fuck you!"
He had been holding in his anger for a long time and was determined to teach Terry a lesson today.
Terry's glasses shattered, and he fell back into his office chair, blood streaming from his nose, his vision blurred. He said in panic, "Jimmy, don't be rash, let's talk this out..."
Jimmy ignored him completely, rushed over and grabbed his neck, shouting, "My family was ruined by you, Reeds! My mom went to prison, and you still made me go after Olivia and Nora!"
Terry scrambled to break free in fear, ran out of the office, and yelled for help.
The employees outside all saw Terry being chased and beaten. Terry had been sitting in an office for years; how could he be a match for Jimmy? He was soon kicked onto a desk by Jimmy and cried out in pain.
Amelia took out her phone and quietly recorded the scene.
Bianca arrived with security guards and demanded loudly, "Jimmy, what are you doing!" The guards immediately restrained Jimmy.
Jimmy was still struggling, cursing angrily, "You Reeds put my mom in prison, caused your daughter-in-law to miscarry, and now you want to harm me too. Just wait, I won't let you get away with this!"
He was extremely emotional, almost out of control.
Terry covered his nose and shouted at the guards, "Throw him out!"
The guards took Jimmy away.
Everyone in the company was watching the drama. Seeing Terry get beaten, those female colleagues who had been bullied by him before all felt satisfied.
Bianca noticed Amelia filming and immediately questioned, "What are you recording?"
Amelia put away her phone with an indifferent expression, "Nothing."
By the end of the workday, the company's shelving units were all installed. Nora thought professional workers were really efficient, assembling the shelves quickly.
The metal frame at the entrance was also installed.
She asked the workers how much it cost.
The two said honestly, "200 dollars per person."
Nora was a bit shocked and thought it was expensive. Working for an afternoon at 200 dollars per person meant 400 dollars for both.
She reluctantly took out her phone, ready to scan and pay.
But the workers said, "No need, Mr. York already paid."
With that, the two packed up their tools and left.
Only the company sign hadn't been installed yet. The sign had just arrived by express delivery, with "Starlight Tech" written on it.
Nora unpacked the box herself, took a plastic stool to the entrance, and prepared to install it.
She climbed on the stool and hammered in nails.
Suddenly, Steven's voice came from behind, "Why are you installing the sign yourself? Where are those two workers?"
Nora was startled, lost her balance, and fell off the stool.
Steven reacted quickly and caught her.
Before she could react, she was in his arms, smelling his scent.
She held onto his neck, staring blankly at his handsome face, "Why are you here?"
"Didn't I say I'd come over tonight?" Steven was still holding her, his gaze falling on the crooked sign, "Why are you hanging the sign yourself? Where are the workers?"
"They left after finishing their work. I thought I'd hang it myself." Nora felt a bit embarrassed being held by him.
"You hung it yourself; it's so crooked, it doesn't look good at all." Steven frowned.
Nora felt awkward, "I haven't finished hanging it yet. You suddenly scared me. I was going to hang it up first and then come down to see if it was crooked."
She explained very seriously.
Steven just looked at her with deep eyes, saying nothing.
The atmosphere suddenly became a bit subtle.
Nora bit her lip, "Alright, put me down. I still need to finish installing the sign."
"I'll do it, you watch from below." Steven put her down.
Nora stood steady, tidied her hair, and stood aside watching him.
Steven could tell she was a bit shy. The corner of his mouth lifted slightly as he climbed on the stool to help her install the sign.
"The left side is a bit crooked." Nora was reminded from below.
"How about this?" Steven adjusted it.
"That's about right, okay, like that." Nora nodded after carefully observing.
Steven nailed in the nails and secured the sign.
"Perfect!" Nora made an OK gesture with satisfaction.
Steven jumped down easily, casually picked up the plastic stool, then walked to the entrance and entered 8888. The lock immediately opened.
Nora's mouth dropped open. She only now realized that since he had arranged for people to install the digital lock, of course, he knew the password.
The two entered the company. Inside was mostly tidied up, just a bit dirty on the floor after installing the shelves, needing cleaning.
Rows of shelving units in the warehouse looked very neat.
Steven looked around, "Much neater than when I came at noon."
"Of course, it looks better with the shelves installed." Nora said, "If I had to install them myself, it would probably take several days."
"Congratulations, your company is officially open." Steven extended his hand with a smile of congratulations.
Nora was in a good mood and shook his hand, "Thank you."
She picked up a broom to sweep the floor.
Steven touched the window and found a thick layer of dust on it, saying, "Don't clean anymore, the windows are very dirty too. I'll have cleaners come tomorrow to do a thorough cleaning."
"No need, I'll do it myself. Hiring cleaners is expensive." Nora said, "Today hiring two workers already costs 400 dollars. If I hire cleaners tomorrow, that's more money. I need to save my money for living expenses; I can't hire people for everything."
Hearing her say this, Steven didn't insist. He took out his phone and asked, "What do you want for dinner? I'll have someone deliver it."
"Didn't you still want to eat the leftover grilled fish from lunch? There's a microwave in the lobby outside, heat it up if you want to eat it." Nora said while sweeping.
Steven frowned, "My stomach's not feeling great tonight, I want something light."
"Actually, me too." Nora poked her head out from behind the shelves. "How about we have porridge tonight?"
"Okay," Steven called to have someone deliver nut and oatmeal porridge.
Nora kept cleaning, and Steven, watching her, felt he couldn't just stand idle, so he volunteered to help.
He took off his coat and placed it on the desk, inadvertently noticing a bag of snacks.
He casually looked through it and found it didn't contain the snacks Nora usually liked. He remembered what she liked to eat, and these weren't bought by her.
"Who bought these?" Steven asked.
Hearing this, Nora came out to look, "What?"
She looked and saw it was the bag of snacks Philip had brought.
"Philip gave them to me." She answered a bit guiltily, sneaking a glance at Steven.
Sure enough, Steven's expression darkened immediately, and he strode toward the back of the warehouse.
The two figures disappeared among the shelving units.
Nora felt nervous and instinctively wanted to leave from the other side.
Steven saw through her intention, walked quickly two steps, blocked her by the shelf, reached out to pinch her chin, and asked in a low voice, "Are you really planning to be with him?"
