Chapter 127 Get Out!
"Marriage is all about adjusting to each other. Fighting and bickering is normal, but couples make up after arguing - running away from home is taking it too far." Elizabeth glanced at him.
Steven's face turned cold. "I'm not the one who wants a divorce now."
"So Nora wants a divorce?"
Steven didn't answer, pressing his lips together with an unhappy expression.
"What about you? Do you want to divorce her?" Elizabeth probed.
Steven said nothing.
Elizabeth smiled and said, "If you can't bear to let her go, just say some nice things to Nora. I can tell she has a good personality. After a little conflict, if you say some sweet words to her, she'll definitely soften."
"I don't care about letting her go." Steven's eyes were ice-cold.
She was the one who mentioned divorce. If she wants a divorce, fine - I'm not afraid.
Elizabeth wanted to reach out and hit him, but Steven wasn't like Andrew—he wouldn't just take it.. When he looked at her with that gaze, Elizabeth actually felt a bit scared.
That look was too intimidating.
Elizabeth sighed softly. "You grew up abroad, so you developed a solitary personality, which makes it hard for you to get along with people now and hard to trust others. To be honest, the York family made you this way - we're all responsible."
"It has nothing to do with you," Steven replied.
Actually, Elizabeth had done very well. She was the only one in the York family who flew abroad every year to visit Steven.
During those years, Electra kept giving Steven money and buying him expensive things, wanting to turn him into a spoiled wastrel.
It was Elizabeth who saw through Electra and sent her trusted people abroad to guide Steven.
But Electra put her heart into teaching Andrew, treating him like her own son, which is why now Andrew has no feelings for Steven but is very close to Electra.
Every year during exams, Elizabeth would fly over personally to be with Steven, encourage him, and accompany him, afraid he would go down the wrong path.
Unfortunately, Elizabeth's health wasn't great, and she had to stay in a nursing home for long periods, unable to manage too much.
But she had already done very well.
If Elizabeth hadn't protected him secretly, Steven would have been completely ruined. He was only 3 years old when he went abroad - how much ability did he have to protect himself?
Steven knew Elizabeth was good to him.
She was the only person in the York family he cared about.
Elizabeth patted his hand, only sighing. "Think it through yourself. I know you're a smart person, and Nora is a good girl. I just hope you don't miss out."
Although wealthy young ladies were fine, marriages between prominent families were mostly loveless arrangements.
Steven's youth had already been so lonely. Elizabeth hoped more that he would have someone he liked to comfort his cold and lonely heart.
Otherwise, what difference would there be between his life and a robot's?
Nora was at home cooking for Olivia while working on her computer.
One product in Duke's order wouldn't be in stock until next Thursday.
Nora called Andrew. "Mr. Hayes, one chip in Mr. Wood's order won't arrive until next Thursday. Should I remove this chip, or wait until everything arrives and ship it all together?"
"Let's wait." Andrew was in his office with his feet up. He wasn't in a hurry for that shipment at all.
He heard Nora's voice sounding hoarse and asked, "Are you okay? Why does your voice sound so hoarse? Are you sick?"
"I'm fine, just a sore throat. Drinking more water will help." Nora said, "Then it's settled - I'll ship everything together when it arrives."
"Okay."
After hanging up, Nora had nothing else to do. She just needed to follow up on Andrew's order now.
Nora went to the kitchen, poured the food she'd made into a thermos, and took it to the hospital to see Olivia.
Just as she reached the hospital room door, she heard Giselle and Bianca's voices.
The two were in the room talking to Olivia.
Bianca said, "Olivia, Willow really didn't mean it that night. She didn't know you'd be so fragile that one push would make you fall. Willow has cried several times over this, and my mom's blood pressure has been so high she can't control it - she's been hospitalized for several days."
Nora stood at the door listening for a moment.
So they came to apologize.
No one had come to see Olivia before, but now that Olivia had reported it to the police, the Reed family was afraid she would hold Willow responsible, so they came to pacify her.
Nora pushed the door open and walked in.
When Bianca saw her, she smiled coldly. "Nora, you're here. Not working now, pretty relaxed every day, huh."
Nora's shop had already been taken back by Willie.
Her words were immediately sarcastic. Giselle tugged at her hand. "Bianca, don't talk nonsense."
They were here to ask for a favor today - they couldn't be too arrogant.
Nora acted as if she didn't see the two of them, walked over, and took out the food for Olivia to eat.
Bianca craned her neck to look, thinking: 'Still has money for nutritious food - doesn't seem like she's doing that badly.'
Olivia quietly ate her food. They ignored the Reed family members.
Bianca and Giselle sat waiting for a while.
When they didn't speak, Bianca's patience quickly ran out. She said coolly, "Olivia, did you hear what I said or not? We can't be unreasonable. Willow didn't do it on purpose. You insist on sending her to prison - isn't that just being difficult?"
Olivia scooped up a spoonful of food. "No need to say so much in front of me. She pushed me and caused my miscarriage - she has to take responsibility for that."
Giselle stood up and said, "Olivia, you really can't blame her for this. That day, she just wanted to talk to you, and you happened to stand up suddenly, so she pushed you down. Otherwise, this wouldn't have happened. Actually, you're partly responsible too. With such a big belly, you kept having conflicts with the family, running away from home at every little thing, making everyone so worried about you..."
"What are you saying?" Nora shot her a cold look. "As a woman yourself, if you were pregnant and someone pushed you and caused a miscarriage, almost dying and nearly having your uterus removed, would you be here saying it wasn't on purpose?"
Giselle only dared say such things because she hadn't experienced the pain herself!
Nora said coldly, "If the Reed family members hadn't all bullied Olivia, would she have run out? Knowing her belly was so big, you still called over a dozen relatives to the house to gang up on her. If you were bullied like Olivia, could you stand it?"
Giselle couldn't respond.
She did think Olivia was pretty miserable, but the problem was that she had to speak up for the Reed family.
Nora said, "Doing bad things should be punished, so people will restrain themselves. Otherwise, wouldn't people just commit crimes whenever they want?"
Those Reed family relatives only bullied Olivia like this because she had no one backing her up.
But Nora wouldn't let Olivia be bullied.
Sending Willow to prison this time was absolutely right. They couldn't just keep being bullied by the Reed family without fighting back, right?
They needed to get revenge on them!
"Nora, what does this have to do with you?" When Bianca saw Nora speaking, she wanted to argue with her. "This is the Reed family's business; it has nothing to do with you."
"Olivia's business has everything to do with me." Nora shot back coldly.
Olivia said, "Nora, don't say so much to them. Talking to them more will only make us angry."
Olivia couldn't be bothered to waste words on them anymore.
Bianca said quietly, "Olivia, you don't need to be so angry. We came today to discuss a solution with you. After all, we're family. If you treat Willow like this, which relative will dare to associate with you in the future?"
"Exactly, Eleanor loves Willow the most. By doing this, aren't you deliberately making Eleanor sad and upset?" Giselle chimed in.
Nora thought: 'Better if she dies of anger!'
Olivia laughed bitterly.
So she was pushed and had a miscarriage, almost died on the operating table, but that wasn't as important as Eleanor being sad?
Nora directly kicked them out. "Get out! You're not welcome here..."
So they wouldn't make Olivia angry!
Having come to this point, they couldn't possibly be relatives anymore - just break it off completely!
Nora pushed the two of them toward the door.
The two refused to leave.
Bianca grabbed the door handle and said to Olivia, "Olivia, if you're smart, you'll drop the case quickly. If Willow really goes to prison, don't ever think about entering the Reed family's door again for the rest of your life."
Olivia was so angry that she threw an apple at them.
Bianca was hit in the head by Olivia's apple and cried out in pain.
