Chapter 128 Your Wife Was Bullied.
"Olivia, how dare you throw an apple at me!" Bianca yelled, rubbing her reddened forehead.
Olivia said coldly, "Go back and tell Eleanor that I will absolutely not drop the case about Willow pushing me and causing my miscarriage. I'll pursue this to the end and make sure she goes to jail!"
"You!" Before Bianca could say more, Nora had already pushed them out and slammed the door shut, locking the hospital room door.
The door that slammed shut nearly hit Bianca in the face.
She was so angry she was practically shaking. She pounded on the door from outside, "Olivia, you're so ungrateful! Just you wait!"
"You're the ungrateful one, you stupid fool," Nora shot back.
"Nora, you're a bitch!" Bianca cursed from outside.
Nora suddenly yanked the door open, her face dark.
Bianca jumped in fright, thinking Nora was going to hit her, and quickly ran away.
Watching them flee in panic, Nora let out a scornful laugh.
"Forget it," Olivia called to Nora from the hospital bed. "Nora, come back. That's just how they are. Don't pay attention to them. The more you engage, the more arrogant they get."
"People like Bianca will keep pushing if you don't put them in their place," Nora walked back into the room and sat beside Olivia. "You have to scare them a bit to make them leave."
Olivia smiled. Nora usually seemed gentle and quiet, but when she got into an argument, she was quite fierce.
"Olivia, did you call the police to arrest Willow?" Nora asked.
"Yes."
"She deserved it." Eleanor had always bullied Olivia. Now putting Willow in jail was at least some payback.
"I asked Mr. Bridges to handle this. I didn't expect him to move so fast - in just two days he filed the case and the court issued a summons." It was only because the police and lawyers got involved that the Reed family started to panic.
At first, they thought they could drag it out and avoid consequences.
But now that the case was filed and escalated to court, the Reed family members knew they couldn't avoid it anymore.
However, Olivia knew the Reed family members were very united. If she insisted on sending Willow to jail, she would definitely offend all the Reed family members.
This was just the first wave of trouble - there would be more drama to come.
Olivia felt bitter inside and sighed, "This is what happens when you marry the wrong person. They treat you like an enemy and bully you. And marrying a stupid man makes it even worse."
Nora felt so sorry for Olivia.
Olivia asked her, "Did you and Steven have some kind of conflict?"
"No," Nora shook her head, afraid Olivia would worry. "We're fine."
"Then why hasn't he come to see me?" Olivia sensed something was wrong.
Nora lowered her lashes, not daring to look Olivia in the eye, lying softly, "He's been busy lately, working overtime every day. He doesn't get home until one or two in the morning."
Olivia looked at her. Seeing that Nora really didn't want to talk about it, she didn't ask further.
At four in the afternoon, Chris made time to come consult with Olivia.
He wasn't from this hospital, but had made arrangements to specifically act as Olivia's attending physician. Normally, he wouldn't come to the second hospital except for consultations.
When he entered the room, Olivia and Nora greeted him.
"Dr. Green." Nora stood up to pour him water.
"Thank you." Chris took a sip and looked at Olivia. "Olivia, how are you feeling?"
Olivia answered briefly.
Chris looked at the medical records and said, "You've been hospitalized for 9 days now. Overall, you've recovered pretty well. If there are no issues, you can be discharged in a few more days."
She had nearly needed a hysterectomy at the time, making her a fairly serious case who needed two weeks of hospitalization.
"Okay." Olivia agreed. She had basically recovered now and could walk around every day. After discharge, she just needed to rest a bit, and she'd be fine.
Then Olivia could go back to Apex Technologies Corporation and reclaim everything that was hers!
Chris was about to leave when Olivia stopped him.
"Nora, go wash some fruit for Dr. Green." Olivia sent Nora away.
"Okay." Nora didn't suspect anything and went to wash fruit.
Olivia asked Chris quietly, "Dr. Green, did Nora and Steven have a fight?"
Chris raised an eyebrow and thought for a moment. "Possibly."
Yesterday, Steven had suddenly said he wanted to play tennis with him, then didn't show up. When Chris called to ask, Steven's tone was clearly displeased.
And apparently, he hadn't been back to Riverside Apartment for several days.
Olivia asked, "Can you think of a way to create an opportunity for them to meet?"
Olivia didn't want Nora and Steven to keep giving each other the cold shoulder.
Chris's face showed a smile. "Alright, I'll think of something."
After leaving the hospital, Chris got in his car to go home and called Steven. "Steven, you know Nora was bullied by someone today, right?"
"What does that have to do with me?" Steven sat in his office signing documents, his expression unpleasant.
"Nothing to do with you? Does that mean you don't want her anymore?" Chris showed a sly smile. "Then can I pursue her?"
Steven's face darkened. "Get lost!"
Chris rested his chin on his hand, saying lazily, "You clearly care so much, why be so stubborn? Nora is at the hospital with Olivia. Why don't you come by tonight, bring some fruit to visit Olivia? She's been hospitalized for over a week. As Nora's husband, it's appropriate for you to visit her."
That made some sense.
Steven couldn't argue with that.
Around six in the evening.
Olivia and Nora were eating dinner in the hospital room when they suddenly heard a commotion outside.
"Olivia, I'm begging you, please forgive Willow. She really didn't mean it. She's already over fifty years old. Please spare her. I'm kneeling before you..."
By the voice, it was Eleanor.
Olivia was drinking soup, and her face turned extremely unpleasant at the sound.
Nora worried about Olivia's health and patted her back. Was this family crazy?
Olivia was still recovering, yet they came to make trouble every day. Were they deliberately trying to drive Olivia into depression?
"Olivia, don't get upset. I'll go take a look." Nora said.
Olivia grabbed her hand. "Nora, I'm going too. Help me up."
She wanted to see with her own eyes what Eleanor was doing.
Nora looked at Olivia. Her chest was heaving slightly - clearly, she was very angry.
Nora helped Olivia walk to the door.
As soon as the door opened, they saw Eleanor ridiculously kneeling there, even pulling Willow's young grandson to kneel on the ground.
Willow was currently detained and would go to court in a few days.
So Eleanor was trying everything to trouble Olivia, demanding she drop the case, or else she wouldn't let her have a peaceful life!
"Olivia, you're finally willing to see me! I'm begging you, please let Willow go. She's an unfortunate person. Her husband died early..."
"This is her grandson. Look at him - he's only 6 years old. Willow usually takes care of him. She just accidentally pushed you. If you don't drop the charges, what will happen to Willow's grandson..."
Eleanor knelt at the hospital room door crying.
They were deliberately trying to embarrass Olivia; otherwise, why not kneel inside the room?
They specifically knelt at the doorway.
Deliberately putting on a show!
At seven in the evening, the hospital corridor was full of patients who had finished dinner and were taking walks outside.
With Eleanor making this scene, all the patients gathered around to watch. Seeing an old person and a small child crying so miserably, they couldn't help but feel sympathetic.
The nurses didn't come to intervene either - they must have been bought off by the Reed family members.
Willow's grandson cried, "Olivia, please let my grandma go. She really didn't mean it. If you don't let her go, I won't have a grandma anymore. Olivia, I'm kowtowing to you..."
The patients couldn't help but speak up. "What kind of matter would make such an old person kneel? And such a small child too - how can you bear it?"
"Exactly, what happened here?"
The patients all showed concern for Eleanor.
Eleanor said miserably, "My poor sister accidentally pushed my daughter-in-law, and my daughter-in-law called the police and had her arrested."
"Just for such a small thing?"
A crowd gathered in the corridor, all pointing and gossiping about Olivia's room.
Nora opened the hospital room door and was immediately met with a bunch of condemning looks, people criticizing them.
"This person is so cold-blooded. Her mother-in-law is so old, yet she makes her kneel at the door to apologize..."
"Just because her mother-in-law's sister accidentally pushed her, she called the police and had her arrested..."
"That's so vicious..."
The comments became increasingly harsh.
Olivia's whole body was stiff, her heart aching as if someone had carved it out.
Nora supported Olivia's body. Just as she was about to confront Eleanor, Eleanor started wailing.
Eleanor wasn't giving Nora a chance to speak.
She cried out at the top of her lungs, "My sister didn't mean it! My poor sister, just because she accidentally pushed my daughter-in-law, my daughter-in-law wants to send her to jail and says she'll make her stay there for life... How could such a thing happen to our family? This is so unfortunate."
Hearing this, the patients felt even more that Olivia was being unreasonable. They pointed at her with moral condemnation, their words becoming increasingly harsh and unpleasant.
Olivia gripped Nora's hand tightly. "Forget it, you can't out-argue her."
How could a woman who cared about dignity win an argument against this unreasonable old woman?
In a moment, she'd get worked up and lie on the ground, throwing a tantrum.
Olivia had dealt with her plenty in the past six months - throwing tantrums, faking illness - these were all Eleanor's specialties.
Olivia said, "If you argue with her, she'll pretend to faint, and then the Reed family will come after you for trouble. You believe me?"
"So we just let her curse at us?" Nora was so angry her chest hurt.
"I'll call Willie."
She wanted to ask Willie what this meant. She was trying to recover, yet these people came to make trouble every day.
Did the Reed family want her dead?
