Bonus Chapter 4: Two Weddings and A Proposal Part 4
Mirage’s P.O.V
Alex took my hand and urged me away from the crowd.
Freya’s wedding had just concluded and the party was in full swing. The new bride and groom were dancing their second dance alone on the dance floor and since Freya’s biological father was no longer in the picture, Alpha Charles was going to be the one to dance with her next.
It was a beautiful moment and I didn’t want to miss it, but apparently, Alex had other plans. He began dragging me away only went the dance was half-way done.
“What?” I frowned at him, puffing up my cheeks in disappointment. “I really wanted to dance with you next…”
“I have a better place for us to dance at.” He gave me a cheeky smile and began dragging me away from the crowd and to a deserted area of the beach, away from all the celebration.
“Where are we going?” I asked impatiently, thankful that my dress went only to my knees. If it had been to my ankles, it would be collecting all the sand and dirt in this beach right now.
“You’ll know soon.” Was all I got in reply.
I huffed, looking out at the sea. However, who could stay mad at such a wonderful sight? The full moon illuminated the water and the beach, providing enough light that even without our night vision, we could have easily seen where we were going.
The waves frothed as the crashed onto the shore and it made me want to dip my legs into the water. Thank goodness that I was wearing flats and not heels. There were a few boulders on the way the further we went away from the venue and I tried to wait patiently so Alex could lead me to wherever it was that he was leading me to.
Finally, after about fifteen minutes of walking, we reached this place surrounded by huge ass boulders and loads of coconut trees.
“What’s this?” I frowned, looking at the dead end and then at Alex. “Did we come all this way to get stuck at a dead end?”
“No, we just need to get to the other side for you to see your surprise.” He held out his hand for me. “After you, my lady.”
The night seemed to have gotten considerably darker…or was it just this place that gave off a creepy vibe?
“Why does this look more like a murder mystery than a romantic date?” I took his hand, but not before giving him a suspicious look.
“Oh dear!” Alex fake gasped. “I’ve been found out! What to do now?”
Surprisingly, all I got through the mating bond was joy and mischief. There was absolutely no clue as to what was going on through his mind and that was a surprise in itself. Usually Alex never shuts off the bond or hides things from me, but this must have taken a lot of strategic planning.
With his help, I began climbing the stiff looking boulders that had some amount of algae on it, so I had to be extra careful so as not to slip and fall. Alex was right behind me all the way, guiding me and holding onto my waist for support in case my feet did slip. But thankfully, the both of us managed to reach the top of the ten foot high boulder without falling over…but when I did reach the top, I realized exactly why Alex wanted to bring me here.
“Oh…my…god…” I breathed out, looking at the sight in front of me.
The entire sea in this part was glowing. The waves that hit the shore seemed to be alit with magical light and even though I understood that these were bioluminescent algae that were creating this otherworldly bluish-green glow…it still felt like an out-of-world experience to see them with my own eyes.
“Beautiful, isn’t it?” Alex whispered next to my ears, holding onto me tightly so I don’t fall.
“How did you find this?” I asked him, looking around the closed off area, almost like it was another world. “It’s magnificent.”
“A long time ago.” He said. “I was just waiting for the right person to bring here with me.”
And then, he jumped down, landing on the sand right next to the waves. “Come on!” He waved at me. “Jump!”
I was a little scared, not because it was high or slippery…but because it was too beautiful…too unrealistic.
But I jumped anyway, landing a couple feet next to Alex.
“Careful.” Alex moved me out of the way as a wave came crashing to the shore, a little too close to me. “The can be poisonous.”
“Really?” I looked at the glowing waves as the retracted. “That’s a pity…it’s so beautiful…”
“Not everything that’s beautiful can be harmless.” He said. “This place is special…but its forbidden.”
“And I’m guessing you like to taste forbidden fruit.” I smirked, only to have him bite my lips.
“Oh, definitely.” This time it was his turn to smirk. “However…I would like to claim this forbidden fruit…as mine…forever.”
Before I knew what was happening, Alex went down on one knee in front of me and then he pulled out a velvet box to reveal a single, large diamond ring, on a gold band.
“Miss Mirage Valecha,” he stated. “I know we are still a work-in-progress and we probably will be for the rest of our lives. You are headstrong, stubborn and you still love to listen to no-one but yourself. However, I have come to find that these are exactly the traits that I love about you and I will continue to love them until I take my very last breath. So…will you do me the favor of adding spice to my otherwise boring existence and become my wife?”
I was truly stunned. How can a man be insulting and impressive in the same sentence?
So I tried my best to hold in my laughter as I extended my hand towards him and Alex happing placed the ring on my ring finger and got off the ground to place a kiss on my lips.
“Well, at least you know that you’re still a work in progress.” I finally gave in and laughed at his proposal. “But I’ll gladly be the spice to your bland life.”
“And that is exactly why the Goddess had chosen you, especially for me.” He wrapped his arms around my waist, as mine went around his neck and I met him half-way for a kiss as the sea glowed with an other-worldly charm all around us…and as the Moon Goddess watched us from the heavens above.
