Bonus Chapter 2: Two Weddings and A Proposal Part 2
Sarah’s P.O.V

All I could hope was that by the time her Mating Ceremony came along, her father would be well enough to walk his daughter down the aisle to Alex. Because she deserved that happiness after everything she had suffered.

My father held out his hand for me and I got up from my chair to take it, holding onto him firmly as the nervousness finally set in. I was going to be Darcia’s mate today, officially.

Freya handed me the bouquet of pink and white carnations and then she lowered the veil over my face.

Freya and Mirage then left to go stand at the aisle with the groom and the best men. And I then walked out with my father a few seconds later and stood right inside the door, so we could walk outside as soon as the bride’s welcoming music started playing.

“Nervous?” Dad asked me, giving my hand a little squeeze.

“A little.” I smiled up at him, so glad to have him by my side right now.

“Me too.” He laughed.

And then the music started playing and I heard shuffling noises as the guests all stood up to welcome the bride.

I held the bouquet close to my chest and squeezed my father’s hand a little tighter as we stepped outside together. The stone pavement was filled with rose petals and there were several flowers hanging from the trees in the courtyard as well as several humongous vases placed all around the wedding venue.

But as we stepped around the curve of the seats, my eyes landed on Darcia, standing at the end of the aisle with his hands behind his back and looking every bit the perfect man that he was…I felt my breath desert me for a second.

‘You look…like the most beautiful woman in the world…’ Darcia’s breathless voice reached my mind via our mating bond and I felt my eyes water even as a smile spread on my lips. I guess this is why people cry at weddings…the feeling of forever being bound to the man we love…it’s a kind of joy that’s hard to explain, but even harder to keep bottled up inside.

Butterflies danced in my stomach and with each step closer, they kept on getting wilder and wilder. Finally, we reached the aisle and Darcia reached out his hand and my father placed my hand in his gently before stepping away and heading back to the benches.

Everything else seemed to fade away as I looked into his beautiful grey eyes and his vibrant smile as tears glistened in his eyes as well.

Since this was a wolf Mating Ceremony, we didn’t have a priest, but a Shrine Maiden, a woman who worships the Moon Goddess. She was the only other person in this ceremony was wearing white in the form of robes and she had a golden pendant in the shape of the crescent moon around her neck.

She came forward to bind an olive branch around mine and Darcia’s hand and then the ceremony began as she chanted a spell and blessed us with the blessings of the Moon Goddess.

“With the power of the Moon Goddess vested in me and by the hour of the full moon, I now pronounce Sarah Parker and Darcia Ruthwell as a Mated pair. Drink from the holy cup to fulfill your promise to always be loyal and true to each other and always stand by your mate’s side, come what may.”

Darcia and I picked up our respective cups and drank the wine inside it that was made especially in a Moon Shrine. The burn lasted but a second but the feeling of the mating bond strengthening, becoming more prominent…it was something neither of us could miss.

“You may now exchange your wedding rings.”

This part of the ceremony isn’t necessarily part of a Mating Ceremony, or at least it didn’t used to be back in the days when my parents got their Mating Ceremony. But with the newer generation wanting to include more ‘human’ themes into the ceremony, we now had the option of exchanging rings. So we did.

Freya handed me the box that held the gold band I had chosen for Darcia and I placed it on it ring finger, after which , his best man offered him the box and Darcia then placed a large diamond ring on my ring finger that was everything I could’ve asked for. The large diamond at the centre was surrounded by tiny diamonds at the side in the shape of a flower and it was the most beautiful ring I had ever set eyes on.

“You may now kiss your mate.”

Darcia picked up the sides of my veil and lifted it over my face, before placing it over my head. His smile when he finally looked into my eyes made my heart swell with love.

“Did I tell you just how perfect you look?” He mused, placing his fingers under my chin to lift up my face.

“Shut up and kiss me.” I told him instead and then I was pulling him down to me, catching the laughter in his lips with mine and sealing our mating in front of the guest and the Moon Goddess as the witness.

Darcia and my journey may not have had the perfect start; I may have been extremely reluctant to be with the bad boy who had been Cameron’s enemy right from the start of our teens. But there isn’t a single thing I would change about our journey. It was rough and rocky and had its own ups and downs, but it was perfect.

And the best part was…this was just the beginning of our forever.
