Chapter 194 SPEECHLESS
Chapter 194 SPEECHLESS
LANCE'S POV
For the first time since I've seen her, I see real fear and terror on her face as Sebastian’s ancient wolf starts chanting.
“Alisander you dare–?!”
“You are not a true goddess,” he cuts her shout short. “No matter how much misery you’ve consumed, you cannot ascend that level.”
Her expression twists into something mangled and ugly and she suddenly lunges violently at him.
She's fast, faster than even Ragnar I'm sure.
“Le fuil nan seann daoine, tilgidh mi sìos thu!”
(By the blood of the ancients, I cast you down!)
The poisoned sword in her hand gleams a sharp color of silver with black tints as she drives it straight towards him without hesitation–
But Ragnar moves first and somehow, even faster that I barely even see it happen.
One second Alisander is exposed and right in front of the sword–
The next, Ragnar is there with the blade driving through him instead.
Sebastian, or rather Alisander gasps and stops chanting for half a second in visible shock.
Ragnar coughs violently as the same thing that happened to Dax, starts happening to him.
Blood is spilling from his wound and his mouth.
“No!” the fake goddess snarls as she's trying to yank the blade free and attack Alisander.
But Alisander recovers quickly and this time–
He chants with even more fury erupting in his being as the whole realm seems to stop for him.
The earth erupts almost like a mini earthquake as he continues.
The rumbling from below caused even the false goddess to slip and lose her balance.
“...Slabhraidhean na talmhainn, ceangail i…!”
(Chains of the earth, bind her!)
Blood drenched chains burst upward from the soil like scraggly living beings and immediately start wrapping around her wrists, ankles and her throat.
One after another, they are binding her as she's screaming with either fury or terror.
The sound of her guttural wailing is unnerving even for me, and I've experimented on Rogues before.
She raises a free hand and a bright red light shines through them but the moment the chain touches her, it disappears like nothing was ever there.
She screams once more causing me to wince. The sound itself is inhuman as the best way I can describe it, is like overlapping voices layered together in agony.
“Alisander if you do this!” She shrieks and continues to struggle in vain. “Yhe realm will be left without a goddess!”
The chains tighten on her, making her scream once more.
It is then I notice something.
The chains binding her tighter and tighter are all covered with little sharp spikes that were moving.
It is like thousands of small knives cutting at you over and over.
Alisander’s expression never changes even with her threats.
“We would rather have no protection,” he says coldly, “than your cruelty as protection.”
The forest trembles at his statement as the chains continue to glow brighter and brighter before finally, her silver light and halo shatters.
The illusion surrounding her finally breaks and whatever I'm seeing, makes me recoil instinctively.
Because that thing–
That thing is not divine, beautiful or holy I behold.
“She” if that's what I would call this creature, looks like suffering given flesh in human form.
The monster's skin is stretched too tightly over her inconsistent bone structure like something is wrong beneath it.
Its eye is filled with endless malice and further below is a mouth that is wider than the length between her ears.
How revolting!
The sight of her makes nausea rise instantly in my throat as I realize that several wolves over the course of centuries have only ever seen her with her disguise.
She screams louder as if in denial.
“You cannot hold me here forever, Alisander!”
Alisander’s chanting voice only deepens.
“Le fuil nan seann daoine, tilgidh mi sìos thu!”
(By the blood of the ancients in me, I cast you down!)
The chanting only makes the chains tighten and her to scream even more
“No,” he agrees calmly to her words. “But I can bind you long enough that it'll feel like forever to you.”
The chains drag her lower and lower into the very earth itself.
“I’ll siphon every ounce of suffering you’ve hoarded and taken,” he continues. “Every death, Rogue attack or misery you've harvested would be used against you from today.”
The ground opened beneath her as the darkness itself seemed to open its mouth in a wide yawn to swallow her.
“It will be enough to keep you buried for a millennium away from anyone’s suffering so if anyone sees you then, this revolting creature is what they'll see. You will deceive no one no more.”
She thrashes violently in panic as it seems everything Alisander said is true.
And then, when her struggle seems futile, she turns to look at Alisander with pure hatred.
“I curse you!” she screams at him, causing enemies to trees to sound like they're wailing.
“I curse you, Alisander!”
The chains tighten harder on her.
“The day you complete your bond with Ragnar–”
My blood runs hot with anticipation.
Maybe she'll finally lift the bond from him and put it on me?
“–will be the day of your death!”
Alisander staggers faintly but he keeps chanting.
She laughs out a sharp and grating cackle that echoes.
“Even if it is not by my hand,” she shrieks out “someone will rise to kill you both!”
The earth just continues to swallow her deeper.
“So love him!” she screams. “Complete the bond!”
The earth has swallowed her so much that it's only her face that's above ground level
“And a fortnight after you do–”
Her grin splits impossibly wide across her very weird face.
“–you will die.”
Then–
The earth consumes her completely as her screamings and curses disappear into nothing as silence resumes.
The ground seals itself shut instantly like nothing was ever there or nothing happened.
Like as if an Omega did not just seal away the “Moon goddess”
I'm clearly the spectator in this whole debacle as after the whole thing, Sebastian or rather Alisander finally collapses to the ground as Ragnar is barely breathing.
What am I going to do?
What the hell just happened?!
How the hell does someone even explain something like this?!
