Chapter 144 144

Chapter 144 144
Lysandra~~

After about an hour, I decided to head to the Business Board of Directors. I wouldn't heed to Ramsey's instruction this time to not show up when things were getting out of hand.

The company has been reported to produce fake products that affect lycans, causing our stocks to drop in the market. And unless a move is made and not just taking down the fake reviews, the company is likely to fold up soon.

Now, the Directors are trying to use this as an opportunity against Ramsey, claiming that it only happened because we weren't suitable to handle the company. They had mentioned to him how such didn't happen when his brother handled the company, so I didn't need to be told who was behind all these.

For that, I had to show up with my past results for the semesters I sat for, and then hoping to make up a lie as to why I hadn't gotten the results for the recent semester.

Clement drove me there, and I hastened up into the room I hadn't ever stepped into before. Four men were surrounding the table, and Ramsey was in their midst. They were flipping through several pages of a file, and they hardly noticed my presence.

“The king is dead already, and maybe he and your luna-s dad didn't realise you two would do this to the company. She can't be a Director when she has no qualifications yet, and you are too busy to look into the company, which led to this.”

“If this keeps happening, what will other clans say of our business board, lycan King?”

“Aside from the company, you have what it takes to rule the clan, so why not let your brother, who is less busy, handle it?”

“If the late king were alive to see all these happening, I think he would make the same declaration.”

I shook my head, “Very big lie!” I mentioned, and they all turned around to see me standing behind them.

“Luna, we didn't expect you here…” one of them said, and I could see the smirk across his face. “But, your coming isn't of use since….

“It is!” I fastened my steps towards them, my arms folded. “I am the only child of my father, and you want me to lose his company to some man that has no emotional tree?” I asked, and they glanced at themselves. “You think Jonathan will let me have access to my dad's assets when I dumped him for my mate? Not like we were lovers, but he was trying to force me into marriage with my uncle.”

Their faces contorted, but I wasn't done yet.

“You say I do not have the qualification to be the Director, right?” I asked, and they couldn't even respond. “What about you go ask my uncle why he never let me go to college after my parents passed on? Why did I lose access to my savings account, my father's house, and was on strict mistreating rules in his house until the day Ramsey took me away?”

One of them cleared his throat and asked me, “Now that you're saying all these, what should we do with it?”

“It’s your job to find out who is behind those fake reviews and queries on the company's website. You don't even care who is behind all those and just want the Directors to be switched. Did you find any of our products that's causing the riots in the stock market?” I asked again, and their lips only hung open with no word leaving. “Well, I am in college right now, and will soon get you all the certification that you want to see.”

The man with bald hair shook his head, “Before then, why do we need to believe that you are in college? At least, present the recent result as proof.”

I took a deep swallow because that was the tough side of it.

For some time, I only stared at them…and they seemed so sure that I wouldn't present it. I sighed, ready to tell the lie I came up with, when the doorbell rang twice.

They all turned around.

How didn't I i ring the bell? I didn't even know the door had one.

A middle-aged man walked into the room and bowed to them all, then he walked towards me and whispered, “Do you mind if I talk to you? It's about your result….”

At that moment, my heart began throbbing. It was all canceled, so what could have happened now?

“What's it?” Ramsey asked the man who bowed with a smile.

“Uhm,” he brought out a file in his briefcase and handed it over to Ramsey. “There was a site shutdown when the results were being uploaded, so she happened to be among those who had the issue. Since she isn't in the human land, and I visited my family, I decided to print it out with me.”

“Who are you, young man?” one of the Executives asked.

He put up a smile once again, “I am the Vice Chancellor!”

Vice Chancellor? He knew someone like me was in college?

“I got the query from the tech team, and while going through the names, I found hers and knew immediately who she was…so I decided to help out.” he then turned back to me, “Looks like you hadn't checked the site yet.”

I wouldn't be so stupid as to agree that I did, so I shook my head. “There was a lot for me to take care of, so I forgot. Thank you for showing up now!”

He bowed, “My pleasure, Luna.” Then he left us alone.

I watched as the men looked like they had finally lost the game. While one cleared his throat, another grabbed his bottle of water, the other stood up and entered the restroom, and the last kept rubbing his fingers in his beard.

When I got tired of the silence stretched amid us, I asked them, “What else now?”

They all stared at me at once, and I wondered if I said something bad.

“I only asked what your plan is now that you saw proof that I'm in college.” I made my question vivid, and one of them responded. “The thing is that you or the king will have to tender an apology to the public about the reviews. Let them know it's a tech issue and has been settled, so they don't need to freak out about your products,” he explained, unable to raise his face.

“In addition, you could give the customers a discount too. That way, they will understand that the management is deeply sorry for what happened.”

A snort.

“So, neither the king nor I should step down?” I asked, and they nodded, finally raising their faces. “What about I treat you all to a meal?”

They all stood up and adjusted their trousers.

Rasmey glanced at me and scoffed, then stood as well.

We all left the room instantly and entered our various cars, leaving the compound. As we drove out, I saw a car parked just at the side of the road, and I almost chuckled. “That looks like Jonathan's car. He must be here to check if his plans are working out like he wanted.”

“He lost, and I already pity him,” Ramsey responded and threw his arm across my neck. “I learnt that his father has given him a time duration to step away from all these he's doing with his mum, but I'm sure dude doesn't even believe the late king isn't his real father.”

“But King Dennis ain't gonna hurt him though. He's just trying to take him away from his evil mum.”

Ramsey chuckled beside me, “You think so? If he lets Jonathan go unpunished, it will affect his rule. He's just trying to pull him back before he commits a crime that could lead to his execution.”

“Really?”

Gosh! I even thought the man would set free his son.
