It Was You!(2)

It Was You!(2)

Nyxion's POV

“Why did you deceive everybody?” I asked, staring at her. Naeris's calm gaze never wavered all this time.

“Naeris?” I called.

She finally looked at me. “Did anybody report to you that I deceived them? Who got hurt the most? Isn't it me?”

“It's because you planned everything. You knew no one would believe you and made me throw you into the dungeon and get you hurt.”

“Isn't that what you wanted?” she asked, staring at me.

“W-what? No?” A frown formed on my face. Where was she getting at?

She sneered coldly, then waved at the maid to leave. The maid carried the bow and hurriedly left us alone.

After the door locked behind her, Naeris got off the chair and turned to face me, her hands resting in front of her blue dress.

“I have two questions for you, Nyxion,” she muttered softly. “And whether you answer honestly or not is up to you, for I have already made up my mind a long time ago.”

I should be the one asking the questions here.

“Fine. What is it?” I watched her carefully.

She walked toward me and stood two steps away from me.

“You didn't know I was dying because you refused to accept the mate bond?” she questioned, and my mind went numb.

My wolf stirred in my mind, pacing restlessly. I bit my tongue, stopping myself from speaking.

She glanced at me in silence, waiting for an answer, and when I didn't respond, her eyes shut and a small smile pressed on her lips.

“Hand over the handbook.” She stretched forth her hand. “You are not the right person to ask me why I did what I did.”

“Your brother is more responsible than you. He treated me right and never saw me as a tool or a plaything. He's never broken me as you did. You should learn from him.” Her words tasted like venom in my ears, and my hands clenched tightly.

“You don't say that,” I gritted through my teeth. “You've never given me a chance to...”

“A chance for you to have my head served to your mistress? The same one you threw into the dungeon an hour ago?” she snapped.

“You already had your fair share of enjoyment from my suffering, and this time...” She snatched the book from me. “I am going to fuck you up.”

She walked away from me. “I don't want you in my sight again, Nyxion. Stay as far away from me as possible.” She turned around, picked up a fruit knife, and lifted her arm.

She pressed the fruit knife against her flesh, holding eye contact with me. My brows slowly drew together as a piercing pain shot through my hand.

I lifted it in shock, staring at the spot where the pain was coming from, then at her hand. She dug the blade deeper into her flesh, and blood slowly poured out.

“Damn it!” I gritted out, feeling the pain.

She withdrew the knife and aimed it at her throat. “What would happen if I slashed my neck? Pierced my heart or...” She hovered the tip of the knife near her eyes. “Removed both eyes?”

She's crazy.

She has finally lost it.

My hand shook violently as I watched the woman before me. She's different.

At that moment, the door pushed open. Her eyes moved to the doorway, and I turned my head as well. Aeron's footsteps paused as he stared from Naeris to me, the smile slowly disappearing from his face.

“I'll take my leave.”

I didn't need him to say that. I glanced one last time at Naeris and noticed her eyes were fixed on Aeron, which for some reason pissed me off.

I walked past Aeron and out of the room. The door slammed shut behind me.

Vaelora's POV

Clank!

The rusty bar scraped against both sides as I walked down the stairs to the dungeon. I picked up one of the burning torches hanging on the wall and moved deeper inside.

I had just taken a few steps off the last stair when a scream pierced through the air, followed by more screams. They were from the offenders thrown into this place.

I heard the interrogation had already started. She's still recovering from the first attack. Surviving extreme torture will be difficult.

Why did she have to be framed now, of all times?

“Halt!” A voice thundered behind me, and I stopped, standing still. Heavy thuds approached me, and I narrowed my gaze downward, noticing a huge shadow.

I turned around, tilting my head back to stare at the guard.

From the visor of his helmet, his cold eyes stared at mine. My brows rose in suspicion. Although I have not lived in this place for too long, the guards stationed around places like this never wear their helmets.

Unless...

“I am here to visit the Lady,” I calmly informed him.

Everyone in the pack knows who I am, and if he asks what relationship we have, that will rat him out.

His gaze lingered on me for a long moment before he finally answered.

“The Alpha has strictly ordered that no one visit her. Please leave,” he stated.

The Alpha, you say?

I was about to respond when a muffled scream sounded from the door next to me. I knew that voice.

Without wasting time, I ran toward it.

“Stop!” the guard yelled. I slammed my shoulder into the door, feeling a crack shoot through my shoulder. I bit my lip to stop a scream from escaping my mouth because the scene in front of me was something I never imagined would happen.

Blood stained the chains around her wrists, and black wetness soaked through the brown sack tied around her head.

My eyes fell on the man burning her feet with hot air, and the world turned red in my vision.

“Got you,” a voice said behind me, a hand resting on my shoulder. I didn't know what came over me.

I grabbed the hand and turned around sharply. Bone breaking filled the air, followed by a strained scream.

“Ugh!”
