Chapter 71 You!

Chapter 71 You!
Thallyne's POV
The silence in the room was deafening, I saw how the smiles on the faces of the Alpha and the Luna dropped in an instant. “They are joking right?” I could sense the worry in her voice as she asked me, her eyes were fixed on my face, waiting for my response.
“They are right-” I looked at the ground, a small blush creeping on my cheeks as I recalled my actions the previous night.
A soft hand was placed under my chin, slowly raising my head. I saw the smile returning to her face. “Did he force you?” I shook my head to deny her words. “And this is your choice right?”
“Yes,” I mumbled out. “I think I love him and he treats me well.” I didn't know when this happened but at this moment I wanted her approval… no, I wanted all of their approvals.
“Alpha Alex isn't a bad choice if you ask me, he is able to protect you. You would be surprised how many she wolves have their sights set on him despite the rumors about him.” Alpha Andrew said with a smile.
“Yeah dear. I heard he is cold and unfeeling-”
“Don't worry Mom, he is just a soft teddy bear under all that hard front.” I chuckled, knowing I had him wrapped around my fingers last night.
Enid winked at me. “We women have a lot to talk about…”
I blushed before nodding.
“But since you are to be his chosen mate, why are you here? Now the better question is, how did he let you out of his sight?” Then the Alpha glanced at Lucas and Luther. “Don't tell me you guys went crazy and kidnapped her… I'm afraid we are not prepared for a war.”
“No Alpha, I came here on my own volition. And Alex was aware that I was leaving, in fact, he says that I can stay here for a week -”
Luther interrupted me. “And if he doesn't get her back, we should be at war drums.”
“That is not going to happen, I'll make sure of it.” I said with confidence, knowing that Alex would still take my opinions to consideration.
“That is good to know. I assume that the alliance is a success.”
“Yes Dad, I saw a lot of blood. He is really scary sometimes, he only smiles at Thallyne and the people he is about to kill.” Luther said in a whisper, worried that he might be overheard and what he said might come to Oscar hearing.
“I think he wants his smile to be the last thing they saw.” Lucas said with a matter of fact tone.
“You have no right to say anything negative about my new daughter's mate,” Enid instructed sternly.
“It's alright Mom but I'll ask you to keep this to yourself, until he makes an announcement to the packs.” Enid glanced at my neck, where hickeys were littered but she frowned when she didn't find what she was looking for. I placed a hand over my neck where my mark was supposed to be. “I don't have my wolf yet, he is prepared to wait.”
“Tha brings us to why we brought her here,” Luther said with a serious tone of voice. “Sometimes in the past, Thallyne was healing in one of the cabins in the woods. Lucas had rescued her when he strayed from one of his patrols so I tried to save her and discovered that she had been poisoned.”
“What?!” Enid spinned me around, looking for injuries, the concern on her face was genuine. “Who hurt you, child?”
“It was Melissa, well I suspect it's her. She is the only one who would openly do that since she is Brian's chosen mate.”
“So he rejected you for another!” The Alpha stated. “No surprise there.”
“Well, I managed to heal her but her wolf went dormant because she took most of the toxins. While I was healing her, she suddenly disappeared and we found her in Mistveil. The only reason Alpha Alex let her come here is because he believes that I could process her healing faster.”
“I see. Can you do that-” Enid asked Luther.
“Of course! Mom, you found a new daughter and now you are doubting me! This is called abandoning the old for something new.” Luther cried out.
“At least I have someone new to have lunch with and discuss girly stuff that you never seem to understand.” Enid rolled her eyes dramatically.
“And I don't have to worry about my mate becoming smitten by you-” The alpha added and we all burst into laughter, knowing that it was probably one of his biggest worries. Even though he knew that Luther would never disrespect Enid, an alpha would never be comfortable with his mate spending so much time with another male… in fact, he is even guarded around his own son.
“Seriously Mom, I need to get my mate soon. I can't bear this torture anymore.” Then he rushed towards Lucas who slightly avoided his outstretched arms. “Give me a cuddle brother, can you hear the sound of my heart breaking.”
“Ladies could you please excuse us, it's time for serious business.” The Alpha blew a kiss towards the Luna who caught it with a giggle. I glanced at Lucas and Luther and from their indifferent expression, it seemed like they were already used to this lovey dovey sight that it doesn't faze them anymore.
The sight of them being able to show affection to one another, made me secretly nurse the hope that someday Alex and I could be like that.
“Come on dear, let's show you where you would be staying for the next week or maybe even longer if you want.”
“I would have to speak to Alex then, I can't stay away for too long.”
“Awwn this is so cuteee.” She squealed, it seems that Enid somehow had a way to bring out her inner child. She led me out of the office, we slowly walked towards the spiral stairs before she stopped. “Wait here, I need to get something from the office.” Her eyes darted behind her.
“Sure!” I nodded, knowing that it must be something important.
As soon as she left, I exhaled a bit but all of a sudden , I heard the sharp sound of heels on the wooden floor and this made me look up. A young woman was walking straight toward me…no—storming with rage on her face.
She was tall, with long dark hair pulled tightly behind her shoulders, her teal green eyes filled with anger that made me feel uncomfortable. I began to think about the reasons why she would hold so much hostility towards me. I barely had time to process it when she appeared before me. “YOU!”
“What?!” My face was probably filled with confusion cause that's how I felt. Confused.
Her hand shot forward, with claws partially extended as she tried to grab me. I stumbled backwards in shock, my shoulder slamming the wall behind me as I raised my hands in a defensive pose. “Wait the hell! What are you doing?!”
“You think you can just walk in here and take everything!?” she snapped at me with her voice filled with fury.
Her eyes raked over me from head to toe with disgust within them. “You lowlife , you really have the nerve!”
“I don’t even know you!” I said, trying to keep some distance between us.
She scoffed, folding her arms while she stood way too close for comfort. “Oh please. Don’t act so innocent.”
I blinked in confusion. “What are you talking about?”
Her jaw clenched as she said “Lucas. Luther.”
Uhh okay. What's this about
“What about them?” I asked carefully, worried about angering her further.
Her eyes narrowed at me. “So you admit it.”
“Admit what?”
“That you’re mated to one of them!” she snapped at me.
For a moment I just stared at her until it slowly dawned on me. “Oh,” I said casually. That was where the misunderstanding came from. For her to be this angry over some assumption, I wondered how obsessed she was with the both of them. “No, that’s not what this is.”
Her expression didn’t soften, it was clear that she didn't believe me or buy my words.
“I’m not mated to Lucas or Luther,” I explained once again. “There’s nothing like that between us. We are just friends.”
“And yet,” she said slowly, as if she was trying to decide whether I was lying to her. “you arrived with the both of them.”
“Well… yes, but…”
“And you walked into the Alpha’s office.”
“That doesn’t mean I’m mated to them,” I insisted, trying to prove my point.
“You expect me to believe that?” she lets out a cold laugh.
“I’m telling the truth.”
She leaned closer to me, her voice filled with malice. “I don’t care about what you think, just stay away from them.”
