Thallyne's POV

The strange glances were making me very uncomfortable, and unfortunately, I had a strange assumption that the worst was yet to come. I forced out a smile at Luther who whispered at me. “Stop thinking about it, it's probably nothing. We barely have visitors around here. They are probably curious about who you are.”

Even though he tried to make it sound okay, I couldn't get rid of the unsettling feeling within me. While I was lost in thoughts, trying to figure things out, we arrived in front of a large building that I suspected to be the pack house.

A middle aged woman suddenly rushed over, scooping Lucas into her arms. “You are back, I've been so worried about you.”

Before Lucas could respond, a male voice thundered behind her. “Slow down Enid, I don't want you tripping over.” A man with a huge body rushed out behind the woman, upon arrival, he pulled her into his arms possessively before growling slowly.

The aura around him made me want to submit, making me realize that this was the Alpha and the woman besides him was his Luna, which makes them Lucas parents.

“That is your son you are growling at,” The woman playfully slapped the man's hand. “Can't you stop being a worry wart.”

The man takes before his eyes fall on me. “And who do we have here?” His gaze hardened as he inquired.

Without looking around, I knew that everyone was curious about my identity and what they would do after is unknown. The woman known as Enid, slapped her mate playfully once again and glared at him. “Don't be rude, we have guests,” Enid gave me a warm smile, her cocoa brown eyes were very loving and the aura around her was very warm and welcoming, she was the perfect role model for Luna. “Come on dear, come in with me, let's have a talk inside.”

She reached out her hand to me but her mate immediately clasped it with his. “That is not necessary. Bring her in.” He ordered before turning around, leading us into the room.

I was confused why Lucas had suddenly gone quiet, I glanced at him for answers but he didn't answer me and his eyes seemed dazed like he was having a mind link. When he entered the room, I followed behind him.

Luther squeezed my arm gently to reassure me then he mouthed. ‘Everything would be fine.’

From the reception I was getting, I was beginning to doubt that, but who am I to voice my concern on another person's land? It's not as if I could simply shift and return to my pack… I could try to return using the path I followed from the last time.

With an alternative plan already set up, I felt a bit relaxed. The pack house was not empty as I expected, a hushed silence filled the room as we walked past to a spiral staircase. I followed Lucas until we arrived in front of an office.

When I entered, I didn't immediately take a seat, I bowed my head as a show of respect, waiting for the alpha to address me. But I didn't have to wait for long.

“Who is she mated to?” The alpha suddenly asked, the coldness of his tone frightened me but compared to Axel, it was nothing.

“Listen, let's be civilized here. We don't want our guests thinking that we neglect visitors around here,” The Luna spoke up. “Dear, you can sit.” She motioned at the seat directly opposite them. Their desk table had two table that were permanently reserved for them.

“Thank you.” I lowered myself to my seat, while Lucas and Luther remained standing.

“You too Luther,” The Luna chuckled. “You know that we can't keep you standing or you might lose a few points off your handsome face.”

The tension in the air slowly began to dissipate, the more they spoke. Soon, I found it easy to breathe. Luther chuckled, even going as far as sticking out his tongue to make fun of Lucas. “I knew that this face works all the time.”

I was surprised that the Alpha didn't admonish him for his actions, instead he fixed his eyes which were overflowing with love, on his mate.

“In your dreams. Mom is just trying to indulge you.” Without asking, Lucas sat down.

Welcome back to reality I guess, right timing!

I snickered under my breath, the room went silent at that moment. Wrong timing. I froze on my seat, worried about what they might say.

“Now tell me dear, which one of these two douchebags of mine are you mated to?” The Luna calmly asked.

“I just hope it's not our biological son, that one is a heartbreaker…” I was shocked as the Luna mumbled something against Lucas. “It's not as if Luther hasn't broken less hearts” The alpha retorted with a sneer, his aura was a lot more calmer and comforting like the Luna's.

“THANK YOU DAD! Mom is just being biased here.” Lucas suddenly exclaimed.

“Why wouldn't she? I am every woman's dream kid and every female dream lover.” Luther retorted with a million dollar smile.

At that moment, something seemed to click within me. This family was a bit different in the presence of their pack, they were more restrained and cold but when it's just them, they are more relaxed, teasing themselves at the slightest.

“And a heartbreaker,” Enid added with a chuckle. “But you would still be my most favorite son.”

Lucas and his father simultaneously rolled their eyes. “Show off.” They mumbled simultaneously.

“Tell us dear, who were you fortunate to be binded to, I'm so sure it's my favorite kid-” The alpha gloated.

“In your dreams, a woman like her only deserves the best, which is Luther right here.” Enid interrupted him with a small huff. As I watched this back and forth, I didn't notice the smile that appeared on my face. All my worries had disappeared at this moment.

“You guys will be surprised who she ended up with?” Lucas added with a knowing smile.

“Yes mom, you would be shocked.” Luther winked at Enid.

“Stop hitting on my son, you shameless man whore,” The Alpha growled slowly at him before continuing. “Hurry up and don't keep us guessing.”

“Thallyne, meet my parents, Alpha Andrew and Luna Enid. Mum and Dad meet Thallyne, she is young alpha Drary rejected mate.”

“What!” The Luna suddenly exclaimed, then an expression of sympathy appeared on her face, directed at me. “Oh dear, I'm so sorry. That bastard! You are better off without him in your life.”

I forced out a smile. “It's alright Lun-”

“Call me mom!” She interrupted me. I glanced at Lucas, Luther and the Alpha, they were all wearing the same smiling expression on their faces. “Don't think of politely declining or I would order you to.”

A shiver ran down my spine at her threat. “Yes M-mom,” I stuttered a bit but I felt better as soon as I saw her face light up.

“Andrew! I finally have a daughter! You can keep the shameless boys to yourself.” She rushed from her seat, to my side and pulled me up to a hug.

I was almost moved to tears, in fact, tears pooled in my eyes. I couldn't remember my parents so it felt nice to have a replacement mom especially one as loving, jovial, enthusiastic as Enid.

“What?! Am I being neglected now?” Luther gasped dramatically. “Please take me father?” He winked at the Alpha who fake gagged at his actions.

“In your dreams.”

Enid pulled away from me, she went further by pinching my cheeks. “Don't worry about that scumbag of a mate, we can easily get another male who would instantly accept you as his fated mate.” She reassured me.

“Thank you mom.” I smiled at her.

I noticed how Luther and Lucas paled at her words. They shared one of their many glances, that seemed to say a million words but nothing at the same time.

After a moment, Lucas conceded. “Mom, don't listen to her, she already has someone else.”

“Youre snitching!” I raised my chin at him, daring him to spill the truth. I already felt a part of this small family and since they accepted me, I would definitely integrate myself in it.

“Of course, my darling daughter would have a lot of men flocking around her, and she would pick the best one amongst them.” Enid said with a beaming smile.

“She definitely picked the best amongst them-” Luther snickered.

“Yes, she chose the best. I can't even compare.” Luther added.

Enid's expression was that of pride as she held me in her arms. “Of course, she only deserves the best.”

“Who did she choose as her chosen mate?” The alpha asked with a bit of impatience.

“Drum roll please!” Luther exclaimed and Lucas proceeded to play a beat on the table. “ She chose Alpha Alex.”
