Chapter Six

May’s POV

As I stepped out of the house, a cool breeze on my skin, I realized I just made the most stupid and irrational decision anybody in the world could make.

Nicholas is someone I should avoid, someone I should hate for what he did to me, yet, here I am, agreeing to a stupid offer just because he needed it to keep the Queen stable.

I’m so fucked up right now.

I was a little bit tipsy and I almost tripped while working out of the compound to meet Declan at the gate. I haven’t drink anything alcoholic in months or ever use any drug in forever and it’s a surprise that I have this strange feeling that makes me want to believe that I’m high.

It wasn’t possible that I was in my right senses when I said yes to Nicholas’ offer, yet, with those eyes so close to me, I couldn’t say no.

When I met Nicholas, I mean at the time when he was still Aslam, his eyes were black pitch, and never did it turn to a combination of blue and green and this new person has that kind of eye.

I want to know his story; I want to know what happened to him that made him become a prince and even changed his name to Nicholas but now I possibly couldn’t do that.

“Hey, Declan” I waved, immediately I got close to his car.

I focused my line of vision properly when I saw that Declan’s hand that was waving back at me had suddenly turned into two.

“Declan, why are you waving both hands?” I asked as I got to his side and he smiled.

“I’m waving with one hand, May.”

I nodded awkwardly trying to get into my senses.

“So, can we go in and pack your stuff mow?” He asked and I shook my head.

“No, we can’t. I just agree to stay with them for the main time and I still can’t believe I talked back at him and even agreed to it but now I’m stuck”

He flipped his tongue as if reverting something he did.

“I guess that’s a result of the drug I gave you”

What!

“Did you just say you drugged me, Declan?” I asked, panic settling in.

“No May. I didn’t drug you. I just added a little something to your chocolate, so you’ll feel better about yourself and the whole situation” He said nonchalantly.

“What is the difference? You drugging me and slipping drugs into my drink without my consent is the same thing” I said, not believing I had trusted Declan in the first place.

Nicholas was more of a friend than Declan was.

Why am I even thinking of that asswipe right now?

“It’s not the same thing, May. I just wanted you to feel good a bit and it was just a little bit of it. A regular person wouldn’t be affected at all” Declan said.

“Yeah, you mean a regular drug junkie like you” I yelled back, angry at what he did to me.

“I’m sorry I did that, May. I’m really sorry….” I cut him off before he could continue.

If I was I. My right senses right now, I would’ve strangled Declan to death.

“You’re not making any sense. I will go back inside, and you will not see me again. Don’t you dare call my number Declan. I swear I’ll kill you if you do that”

Angrily, I walked back into the compound without looking back. Once I got in, Nicholas was not at the door to drag me into an empty room and probably murder me.

“I see you’re back, May dear” The Queen came into view as I walked past the dining area.

Nicholas was sitting right beside her, and he turned his head in my direction once my name was mentioned.

“Yeah, even though I wished I didn’t, but I’m here once again. Happy to see me now?” I laughed out loud.

“Yes dear, I’m so happy to see you. I thought you left already because Nicholas wasn’t being nice to you” She said, smiling at me.

This woman must have some really good heart.

“Nicholas is never nice to anyone, Queen. He’s always grumpy, angry, and crazy. Once, when the school principal pissed him off, he went all apeshit and peed on the man’s doorstep for weeks till the poor man couldn’t take it anymore. It was one hell of a crazy week in school” I busted into laughter again.

The older woman joined me, obviously not aware that the person she was laughing with was as high as a mountain. I was on cloud nine and I hated it as much as I loved this feeling.

“Can I ask you a question?”

“Yes, my dear”

“Are you really a Queen or this is all part of a school’s play?” I asked and started laughing again.

“I think you’ve said enough, May. I’m really sorry about this, Queen mother. I’ll come back later to complete the work soon. Please, excuse me” Nicholas walked towards me and dragged me by the hands towards his room.

We got to the room and he made me sit on the bend, both hands on my shoulder as he looked on at me, trying to find out what was wrong with my head.

“Your eyes, Aslam, they look different,” I said.

I knew I couldn’t control anything that I was saying, but I didn’t care.

“There’s nothing different about them, that’s how they’ve been since forever” he replied and sat on the small stool by the end.

“They weren’t like that before you left Chicago. Before you broke my……”

this time I controlled my mouth and stopped taking.

“Broke your what May? Do you mean your heart? No one did that to you, you did it all by yourself, and what the hell is wrong with you, why are you acting like this?”

“Declan put some drugs in my drink without telling me, can you imagine that bullshit? At least before doing that to a person, you should at least inform them about it. He just went ahead….”

“Who the hell is Declan?” He roared “Wait, let me finish what I’m saying. I don’t like being interrupted. Can you imagine that the drug junky just went ahead to drug me without my consent? I mean, yeah, I would’ve said no but the audacity he had to do such a stupid thing”

“Stop talking and get some sleep” He instructed, already standing up on his feet.

I nodded like a lost puppy and lied down on the soft bed. I opened my eyes once I felt something against my skin and I realized that Nicholas was putting the blanket around me.

“Will you be here when I wake up?” I asked “No”

“Okay, Aslam. Joyeux Noel”

He laughed. “You’re so fucking high, May. Get some sleep and return to your senses later”
