Chapter 137 Chapter 137

ALINA'S POV

Who knew a man could be so petty?

A man could hold such petty grudges. I mean, what do I even expect? A bastard will always remain a bastard. Else why would I receive such a message the very next day after our sweet 'neighbourly' encounter?

I was only being a good neighbour. I greeted him and his dearest fiancée goodnight, was that bad?

Did I do something bad? That he would turn around the very next day and treat me like this.

This!

"You have been assigned to represent the Seraph project during the Executive Client Preview Session, Ms. Monroe. Date will be communicated."

Date will be communicated?

Who sends out such official notice? Who sends out an incomplete notice and on the very day after his supposed blissful sleeps.

Clearly, it was an attack against me.

A retaliation, but I wasn't fazed at all. I was not, in fact, I smiled all through the damn morning that message came in.

"Looks like you didn't have such a great night, sir." I chuckled to myself, already imagining. Remembering how well I slept after reaching my apartment and showering.

It was a blissful night indeed. So how could I be mad about a couple out of the blue vengeance seeking meetings?

No way.

If anything , I prepared myself. Prepared so well, arrived there before the clients even did, performed so well he didn't have the chance to sabotage me in front of our guests.

I say 'our' cause he brought himself there. Dragged his bastard freaking self to the location of the meeting, smirking like he'd won a lottery and knew secret codes I did not.

I'm guessing that was the start of annoyance. The same annoyance I was holding onto right now, trying not to be affected. Let his annoying breathing self get to me.

"You know, you're going to catch a terrible cold the more you stand right out the door." He called out, making sure I heard.

I did.

Holding my bag closer, the chill breeze definitely getting to me. Sprinkles of rain drops splattering onto my dress, my shoes, my feet.

My toes curled but I held on. Held my head high, not giving in, not looking back at the wonderful warm that was inside the restaurant.

It was currently raining. It has been raining and for more than 10 minutes it just refused to stop, I'd been waiting out here for it. Him inside. Smirking and watching me whenever I managed a peak or something through the transparent glass walls.

"Honestly..." I shook my head, toes tapping. Impatient. "Just what is he still doing in there anyways? He sure isn't waiting to go order a cab like I am." I spat, scoffed.

The ladies we had meeting with were long gone. All three of them. It was only then I realised it was raining.

I couldn't order a cab. None was even available in the area, meaning trekking out for a bit. Just as I'd done to get here in the first place, imagine the stress!

I was definitely getting a car soon. Definitely.

But point is, what was he doing here?

Why was he still here?

He could literally get into his car and drive off. Continue with his day like the ladies did.

But no.

He did not. He stayed right where he was, relaxed looking. Like he had all the time in the world.

That told you everything, didn't it?

He had all the means and yet was inside enjoying the warmth. I had zero means, and I was out here in the cold. Why?

Why the hell was I letting him take this too?

"Fuck it." I turned around, turned right around and pulled on the doorway of the restaurant. Jumping right in, the warmth instant and soothing.

His voice coming along with it.

"Oh? You changed your mind, huh?"

I didn't respond. Didn't even look at him.

I just silently went over to a table far from his, sitting my ass down and letting the cold slowly leave me.

But that was just the start from him.

"So what made you change your mind?" He asked, continued talking. Striking a conversation. "Did your feets get too cold? Are they freezing??"

"Are your nipples freezing?"

What?!

My head snapped towards him instantly, meeting his smirking lips. "They are, aren't they? I noticed from the way you kept trying to hug them but failing."

W-w-

Nope.

I wasn't answering that.

I sat up straight, looking away from him. "C'mon," he taunted, tone heavily amused. "You didn't think you were invisible out there, did you? Or me blind maybe. Of course I could see you clench your thighs and squeeze up so hard. Good for you anyways!"

What??

"Yes." He confirmed, looking right at me. Our eyes meeting from the distance, mine glaring but trying not to. His heavily amused and serious at the same time.

"You're too stubborn for your good." He said, "I told you to come in but you wouldn't. Why? Can't stand being in the same space with me until the rain stops? You can't stand sitting across from me for a few minutes, won't speak to me, whereas you were moaning out and grinding on my laps just a few weeks ago!"

"You-
