Chapter 134
Seeing the situation, Ella rushed forward and grabbed Dorian.
After confirming that Dorian was still breathing, she hurriedly used the knife to tear fabric from her clothes to bandage Rhea's wounds.
Scarlett, who was pinned down and unable to move, froze.
Her whole body was pressed face-down on the ground, her face pressed tightly against the floor. After struggling for a while, she finally saw Joshua's face.
She hadn't expected Ella to dare bring Joshua here. Afraid that falling into their hands would mean no chance of turning things around, and that Ella would end up living carefree again, Scarlett cried out in a delicate voice, saying to Joshua, "Joshua, let me explain. It's not what you think. I just wanted to scare Ella a little, that's all. Can you let me go? I know I was wrong."
Joshua looked at the wounds on Rhea's body and at the unconscious Dorian.
There was no way he could believe Scarlett's words.
He held her down, not letting her move, his voice cold, "I never thought you could be so vicious, not even sparing your own mother."
All the way here, Joshua hadn't quite dared to believe that Scarlett had kidnapped Rhea.
Now seeing it with his own eyes, his entire view of Scarlett had changed.
Seeing that Joshua didn't believe her, Scarlett suddenly began struggling like crazy, screaming, "She's not my mother. She never treated me as her daughter. For over twenty years, they know better than anyone what kind of life I've had in the Lewis family."
Unable to break free from Joshua's grip, Scarlett turned to glare at Ella, her eyes full of hatred, "Ella, you bitch! Didn't I tell you not to tell anyone? Why did you bring him here? I should have killed your son and let him keep your daughter company."
Ella had just stopped Rhea's bleeding. Hearing these words, she went over, grabbed Scarlett by the hair, and slapped her hard twice.
Scarlett knew she couldn't escape now.
She endured the burning pain, stopped struggling, but said smugly, "Go ahead and hit me. Even if you beat me to death, you can't bring back your daughter. Oh, and that drink you just had was poisoned. In less than an hour, you'll cough up blood and die too."
"Scarlett."
Joshua couldn't listen anymore. He pressed his knee against her to keep her down, his hands gripping her neck as he demanded, "Is there an antidote? Give me the antidote."
Seeing that Ella's face was indeed paler than before, truly afraid that the poison would harm Ella, he wanted nothing more than to strangle Scarlett.
But Scarlett ignored him and continued laughing, "I want your whole family destroyed, to make sure you can never be reunited, never live together."
Scarlett laughed maniacally, looking at Ella with satisfaction, as if she had won, waiting to see Ella's even more miserable fate.
Aurora and Dorian were Ella's bottom line.
The reason she entered the Lewis family and maintained an ambiguous relationship with Joshua was for revenge.
Now her enemy was right in front of her.
Watching her laugh so arrogantly, Ella couldn't suppress the hatred in her heart. She picked up the dagger nearby, pointing the blade at Scarlett, "You killed Aurora, killed Grandpa, and now you've kidnapped my mom and Dorian. This time, no one can save you."
As soon as the words fell, Ella's heart hardened, and she gripped the dagger, thrusting it toward Scarlett's chest.
But she was stopped by Joshua, who reacted quickly.
Joshua grabbed her wrist, shaking his head, "No, Ella. The police will be here soon. If you kill her, you won't escape legal consequences either."
Ella didn't care about that. She shouted at him, losing control, "Get out of my way! I'm going to kill her today."
"No."
Joshua still stopped her.
However, this action gave Scarlett a glimmer of hope.
Lying there, she laughed weakly, "Joshua, you still have feelings for me, don't you? I knew it. You can't bear to see me hurt."
Then Scarlett turned to Ella with a victor's expression, "So what if he knows the child is his? At the critical moment, he's still protecting me."
Just as Ella felt disheartened, truly believing Joshua was protecting Scarlett, Joshua suddenly grabbed the dagger from her hand and stabbed it hard into Scarlett's thigh.
Scarlett cried out in pain, looking at Joshua in shock and disbelief, "Joshua, you..."
Joshua pulled out the dagger and stabbed it into her arm.
Scarlett screamed again. Seeing the blood pouring from her arm, she was terrified.
She was convulsing in pain, asking desperately, "Joshua, why?"
Joshua's expression was cold, his eyes calm without any emotion, "As long as you don't die, Ella was acting in self-defense. Self-defense can exempt her from criminal responsibility."
Seeing that Ella was still angry, as if these injuries couldn't relieve the hatred in her heart, he stabbed Scarlett one more time.
Scarlett screamed in agony, knowing she couldn't escape and wouldn't survive.
She lay there, glaring at Joshua and Ella with hatred, "You think killing me means you can live happily together? Let me tell you, your son won't survive either. The poison I gave him is even stronger than what Ella drank. In three days, he'll definitely die."
Hearing this, Ella panicked.
She immediately picked up Dorian and ran out without thinking.
Rhea, injured, couldn't move at all.
She cried and hit Scarlett, "How can you be so cruel? He's only a three-year-old child. Scarlett, is your heart made of stone?"
It was all her fault.
If Scarlett hadn't found her, saying she was leaving and wanted to thank her as a mother one last time...
She had softened and brought Dorian along, never imagining that halfway through, Scarlett would tie them up and take them hostage.
Dorian had even been drugged.
She had harmed Dorian and Ella. Rhea regretted it deeply.
Scarlett's face twisted in pain, but she couldn't help laughing wildly, "I want your family destroyed, so you can never be happy."
Joshua had never seen such a cruel and vicious woman.
Thinking of his past feelings for her, he wanted to slap himself.
Knowing Scarlett could no longer resist, and to help Ella get Dorian to the hospital, Joshua immediately got up and chased after her downstairs.
Just as Ella ran out of the abandoned building with Dorian and was about to get in the car, the police and the Lewis family father and son caught up, asking anxiously, "Ella, how's Dorian? Where's your mom?"
Ella said quickly, "Mom's still on the fifth floor. Go get her quickly, she's injured."
Joshua also told the police what had happened.
He was really worried about Dorian. He and Ella would take Dorian to the hospital first.
The Lewis family father and son rushed upstairs.
On the way to the hospital, Joshua's mind kept replaying two things Scarlett had said.
"So what if he knows the child is his?"
"Your son won't survive either."
Was Scarlett saying this to him?
Did Scarlett mean that the child in Ella's arms was his?
He turned to look at Dorian's unconscious face, his heart racing, but he couldn't help saying with concern, "I'll call Samuel right away. He'll definitely be able to remove the poison from you and Dorian."
Ella didn't respond, holding Dorian tightly in her arms, lowering her head to nuzzle him.
Thinking of Aurora's death, she was too afraid that Dorian would leave her too.
She just hoped Dorian would be okay.
As long as Dorian lived healthy, she would be willing to give up her own life.
After arriving at the hospital, Dorian was quickly sent to the emergency room.
Samuel also rushed over and entered the operating room.
Afraid that Ella's poisoning wasn't minor either, Joshua took her to another examination room, having the doctor quickly do blood tests and examinations.
Throughout the process, Ella was in a daze.
In the suburbs, the police arrested Scarlett.
The Lewis family father and son also sent Rhea to the hospital.
They hadn't expected Scarlett to become so deranged, not only drugging Dorian and forcing Ella to drink poison, but also hurting Rhea.
No matter how much Mason loved her, after learning about the series of twisted things she had done, he also felt hatred toward her.
The doctor detected that Ella had drunk a small amount of poison.
They immediately induced vomiting.
Because she hadn't drunk much, even if the poison took effect, it would likely only cause some pain and wouldn't be life-threatening.
Hearing the doctor's words, both Ella and Joshua felt relieved.
Then they both rushed to wait outside Dorian's emergency room.
While waiting, Joshua couldn't help asking, "What Scarlett said about 'our son,' does that mean I'm Dorian's father?"
Four years ago, Joshua had always thought he had been with Scarlett.
But later, when Scarlett tried to get close to him again, he felt no desire at all.
He couldn't be intimate with her at all.
Later, when he was around Ella, Joshua couldn't control himself.
And then Ella had asked him about that night four years ago.
Plus what Scarlett just said, it all made him question whether the person he had been with four years ago was really Scarlett.
Ella's eyes flickered. She steadied her emotions, staring straight ahead.
She reminded herself not to let Joshua know that Dorian was his child.
Aurora was already gone. What good would it do for him to know the truth? It wouldn't bring Aurora back.
Now that Scarlett had been arrested, she had gotten her revenge. There was no need to stay here anymore.
If Joshua found out Dorian was his child, he would definitely fight for custody and stop her from leaving with Dorian.
She really didn't want to face Joshua with a forced smile every day anymore.
Facing his question, Ella said coldly, "You're overthinking it. Dorian has nothing to do with you."
Joshua didn't quite believe it, "Then why would Scarlett say that?"
"Because I told her I'm dating you now and we'll remarry in the future. So wouldn't my child also be yours?"
Hearing that Ella wanted to remarry him successfully diverted Joshua's attention.
He moved closer to Ella, asking in a low voice, "Really?"
Ella unconsciously moved away from Joshua, her mind still in a fog, "Really what?"
"Remarrying. Have you really thought about it?"
To keep Joshua from asking about the child, Ella casually said, "Yes, I've thought about it."
