Chapter 133
Ella returned to her room, just hoping the police would hurry up and arrest Scarlett and send her to prison.
Once Scarlett was in jail, she could leave this place and never have to see the people she hated again.
Actually, the Lewis family and Joshua all knew that the recent uproar about Scarlett was all Ella's doing.
They just turned a blind eye and didn't interfere.
Mason was afraid of making Ella angry, so he didn't mention going to see Scarlett again.
Even though he thought about it, he tried hard to hold back.
When it came to women versus family, he cared more about his family.
Besides, Scarlett had been disappointing him all along.
Early in the morning, Joshua happily came to pick up Ella for work at the company.
Heath and Rhea both saw it.
They wanted to say something to Ella, but were afraid of upsetting her, so they just let it be.
After watching Joshua pick up Ella, Rhea said, "I wonder if Ella still wants to be with Joshua. Lately they've been going to work together and leaving together, acting as close as if they're dating."
Heath didn't think much of it, "You don't know that just these past few days, Ella has signed quite a few projects for the company. The board members can't stop praising her."
He might understand what Ella was thinking.
But he also felt Ella shouldn't be that calculating.
Maybe he was just overthinking it.
If Ella really still wanted to marry Joshua, as parents, they could only agree.
"Well then, it seems Ella really is thinking about the company. You better educate that useless son of yours and tell him not to get involved with Scarlett's affairs anymore. If he makes Ella angry, I won't let him off."
Heath nodded in agreement.
He told Rhea to go back inside, and followed his assistant to the company.
Rhea went inside and saw Dorian just coming downstairs. She smiled and took his hand, "Dorian, after breakfast, how about grandma takes you to the amusement park?"
Dorian didn't seem to like anything. Every time they took him out, he was unhappy.
When they bought him things, he showed no interest.
He seemed to only like staying home and tinkering with computers.
That wouldn't do. Today she had to take him out to have some fun.
Dorian glanced around the living room and dining room. Not seeing Ella, he knew she had gone to work again. With nothing better to do, he agreed to go with Rhea.
After breakfast, Rhea took him to the amusement park.
Ella spent the whole day at the company, staying by Heath's side and meeting with the company's board members.
Because she had Joshua introduce projects, in just one week she had signed several major projects for the company, and the board members were all praising her.
Gradually, they all accepted her joining the company in an important position.
In the afternoon, Ella received word that Joshua had come to pick her up from work.
He had already driven to the building and was waiting downstairs.
Thinking she still needed to use Joshua for something, she didn't refuse.
After finishing her work, just as Ella was about to leave, her phone rang.
It was a call from Rhea.
She answered it.
But from the other end came Scarlett's arrogant laughter, "Ella, if you want your son and your mother to live, come alone to the address I'm sending you. If you dare bring anyone else, I'll kill your mom and your son."
After saying this, afraid Ella wouldn't believe her, she forced Rhea to speak, "Don't you love your daughter? Tell her to hurry up and come save you."
Rhea looked at her situation, looked at Dorian still unconscious and tied up beside her.
She quickly warned into the phone, "Ella, call the police right away. Don't come alone. Scarlett has gone crazy, she'll kill you."
Ella recognized Rhea's voice and immediately asked, "Mom, are you and Dorian okay?"
"We're fine, but don't come alone..."
Before Rhea could continue, Ella clearly heard the sound of a slap, which must have hit Rhea's face.
Furious, she shouted into the phone, "Scarlett, I promise to come alone. Don't hurt my child and my mom. My mom raised you for over twenty years after all."
Scarlett must be tired of living.
To actually dare kidnap Rhea and Dorian.
It seemed she really couldn't hold back anymore.
Seeing the call was hung up, followed by an address being sent, Ella rushed out the door.
She ran while calling the police.
Running downstairs from the company, she saw Joshua waiting for her not far away.
Ella immediately got in the car and said urgently, "Hurry, take me to the suburbs."
Joshua didn't know what had happened. Seeing Ella so anxious, he didn't ask questions and immediately drove off.
The car entered the busy traffic. Seeing that Ella was still anxious, constantly messaging and calling people, he couldn't help but ask, "What happened?"
Ella didn't hide it, "Scarlett kidnapped my mom and Dorian. She wants my life."
Joshua was shocked, as if he hadn't heard clearly, "You said Scarlett kidnapped your mom and Dorian? Where would she get the nerve to do that?"
In his eyes, Scarlett was as timid as Ella, even if she sometimes did things a bit extreme.
But how would she dare to kidnap people?
"How would I know? Maybe she's tired of living."
This time, Ella would make sure Scarlett could never rise again.
Ella not only notified the police, but also Heath and Mason.
She wanted everyone around her to see Scarlett's true face.
She wanted Scarlett dead, or locked in prison for life.
"Ella, don't worry. Scarlett wouldn't dare hurt them. She's probably just trying to scare you."
Joshua tried to comfort her.
But his words still showed he didn't believe Scarlett would really do something so cruel.
No matter what, Rhea was Scarlett's adoptive mother.
She raised her for over twenty years.
Even if she resented being kicked out of the Lewis family, she wouldn't be crazy enough to kidnap her own adoptive mother.
Hearing this, Ella felt extremely uncomfortable.
She turned to stare at Joshua, "In your mind, Scarlett would never do anything bad, right?"
She had never sent Joshua the video of Scarlett admitting to murder.
Now Scarlett had kidnapped Rhea and Dorian, and Joshua was still making excuses for Scarlett.
Ella suppressed the anger in her chest, reminding herself over and over that once she dealt with Scarlett, she would leave with Dorian.
She never wanted to see Joshua again.
Even looking at him one more time made her feel sick.
Seeing Ella angry again, Joshua opened his mouth to explain, but Ella coldly interrupted, "Shut up. Don't say anything now. I don't want to hear your voice."
Joshua sighed, thinking Ella's temper was getting worse and worse.
But thinking she was probably worried about her family, he didn't mind and quietly shut his mouth.
After more than an hour's drive, they finally reached the address Scarlett had sent.
It was an abandoned, unfinished building in a remote area.
The car stopped, and Ella hurried to search for Rhea and Dorian.
Joshua split up to search with her.
When Ella reached the fifth floor, at the stairway she saw Rhea tied to a pillar, and Dorian lying beside her, also bound and unconscious.
"Mom, Dorian."
Ella rushed toward them.
But then she saw Scarlett emerge from behind the pillar, pressing a sharp knife against Rhea's neck.
Ella immediately stopped and shouted at Scarlett, "Don't you want my life? Let go of my mom and Dorian, and I'll come over and let you do whatever you want."
Scarlett's goal was indeed just to take Ella's life.
If it weren't for Ella, how would she have ended up like this?
Even the police were looking for her.
Scarlett knew she had no future and would have a hard time surviving in this city. She didn't want anything anymore, she just wanted to die together with Ella.
Seeing that Ella really came alone, Scarlett pointed to a bottle of water nearby, "Then drink it. Drink it and I'll let go of your son and your mom."
Ella looked at the water nearby.
She knew it wasn't ordinary water. If she drank it, she might really lose all ability to resist.
She stared at Scarlett, "Let them go first."
Scarlett couldn't wait. The knife pressed harder against Rhea's neck, "Ella, don't you care if she lives or dies?"
"Oh right, why would you care if she lives or dies? After all, she never raised you. Then I'll start with your son!"
With that, Scarlett crouched down and grabbed the unconscious Dorian, pressing the knife to his neck, threatening, "I'll count to three. If you don't drink it, I'll slit your son's throat."
Seeing that Scarlett had really gone crazy, afraid she would hurt Dorian, Rhea cried out anxiously, "Scarlett, if you have any complaints, take them out on mom. Why hurt a child?"
Her face had already been beaten and swollen by Scarlett, with blood at the corner of her lips.
Scarlett glared at her hatefully, "Shut up! All these years, have you ever truly treated me as your daughter? You never accepted me."
"Today I'm going to make you watch how I kill your daughter."
Scarlett shouted at Ella again, "Drink it now! If you don't drink, I'll cut your son's throat."
Before Ella could respond, Rhea quickly shook her head to warn, "Ella, you can't drink it. It's poison. It'll kill you."
"You're asking for it."
Scarlett, enraged and with a twisted face, stabbed the knife hard into Rhea's foot.
Rhea immediately cried out in pain, her originally swollen face instantly turning pale.
Ella was frightened. She quickly picked up the medicine bottle and shouted, "Okay, I'll drink. Don't hurt them. I'll drink it now."
Ella unscrewed the cap and raised the medicine to her lips. Then she saw Joshua appearing behind Scarlett.
He was slowly approaching Scarlett.
Ella held her breath. To prevent Scarlett from noticing Joshua's presence, she diverted her attention, "Move the knife away from Dorian's neck first, and I'll drink it right away."
Scarlett wouldn't listen to her. Already out of patience, the knife slowly cut through Dorian's tender skin, blood seeping along the blade.
Ella didn't dare hesitate anymore and immediately poured the medicine into her mouth.
Rhea watched, shouting heartbrokenly, "Ella, that will kill you. Don't drink it."
Scarlett was also afraid Ella was faking, and shouted, "Swallow it!"
Ella pretended to swallow, but still swallowed some.
Rhea knew how deadly that poison was. Terrified of losing Ella, she cried uncontrollably, "No, Ella, spit it out quickly. That medicine will really kill you."
However, Rhea's crying and her worried look for Ella really made Scarlett sick.
She raised the knife to stab Rhea's leg again.
At that moment, Joshua immediately rushed forward, pinned Scarlett to the ground, quickly snatched the knife from her hand, and pulled Dorian away.
