DAUGHTER OF ELARA

DAUGHTER OF ELARA
Celine’s pov

“Knowing she was pregnant, she tried harder to bring peace between them so her child could live in harmony, but their Alpha bluntly refused and threatened her life if she ever brought it up again. She left the pack for good and went to the human world, still hiding her identity.”

“She gave birth. Her baby was a complete replica of her, and seeing how lovable and calm her baby was, she made up her mind to risk her life to settle the dispute. She didn’t want her child to suffer the same fate.”

“She entrusted the baby to its father and pleaded with him to take care of the child, but he didn’t want her to go, knowing it could cost her life. But Elara refused. Before she left, she blessed her child, a powerful hybrid and made the child’s father promise not to reveal the child’s identity until the right time,” she said.

I felt my heart soften at this part. What a wonderful story. The child must be doing great now… or maybe she doesn’t even know about her hybrid powers. But why wouldn’t Kaida want me to find this supposed child? That’s if the child is even alive.

“Where’s this child now? Is she dead?” I asked.

But Kaida smiled before speaking.

“The child is right in front of me,” Kaida said.

Shiver ran down my spine. No, there’s definitely a mix-up somewhere. I can’t be the child. Yes, I heard my mother’s name was Elara, but she was human, just like my father,” I defended.

“If you could recall, you’ll remember I said she disguised herself. Your father alone knew she was a werewolf,” she answered.

“It’s a bloody lie. How come I’ve never shifted or felt any such power?” I asked.

“When I said your mother blessed you after you were born, she performed a ritual called The Silver Binding on you. With this ritual, you grew up appearing completely human,” she explained.

How is this possible? Me? Half-werewolf, half-human?

“How should I believe you? My father never mentioned any of that to me. How do I know you’re telling the truth?” I asked.

“I believe you have a good memory, but you just can’t accept it. I mentioned earlier that your father made a promise not to reveal it to you until the right time,” she answered.

“Prove this to me,” I said, my voice firm.

“Proof? You need to awaken your power first. Maybe after that, you’ll see the proof you’re searching for,” she said.

“Please, tell me how such a ritual can be carried out,” I begged.

“You were cut slightly so that a drop of blood could be taken while your mother, Elara, chanted an ancient incantation invoking the Moon Goddess’s spirit. The drop of your blood and your mother’s was mixed with a herb called silver dust to seal the rite,” she said.

She seemed serious. So truly, I’m a hybrid? Who would believe this? A Mafia Donne suddenly turned out to be a hybrid.

“How can I awaken my power?” I asked.

“It should have been broken by your mother, Elara, herself. But since she’s no more, I’ll do that for you,” Kaida said.

“Thank you. But please, how can it be done? Another ritual?” I asked.

“Yes, it’s a ritual, and it can only be done under the right moon phase,” she said.

“Before we even speak of the ritual, you must understand one thing,” she said, her voice calm but firm.

“Timing is everything. The moon decides what the magic gives… and what it takes.”

The moon decides?

“So… which moon do we wait for?” I asked.

“The Full Moon,” she answered instantly.
“When the sky burns silver and every creature remembers what it is. That’s when your wolf stirs, when blood answers the call of the night. The power inside you will rise then, and it will no longer hide.”

“You’re joking?” I asked.

Everything still felt like a joke to me. How would I even explain this to Damien? He definitely wouldn’t believe me.

“In some cases, it’s done during the New Moon, when the sky is dark, and the world forgets the moon exists. That’s when power hides, when instincts sleep. The shadows are quiet then, and your wolf can be bound without a fight,” she said.

How the hell is that possible? Werewolves do everything under the moon, it’s sacred to them. At least, that’s what I’ve read, or has that suddenly changed?

“But if there’s no moon, won’t the magic be weaker?” I asked.

A smile tugged at her lips.

I stared at her, wishing she wouldn’t burst into her silly laughter.

“Weak, yes… and that’s the point. The Full Moon gives strength: uncontrollable strength but the New Moon gives silence, obedience, and restraint. For you, we’ll use the Full Moon,” she said.

“And if we do it under the wrong moon?”

“Then your power will remain locked, trapped between both worlds. Once that happens… it may never awaken again.” Her gaze darkened.

Her words sent a chill down my spine.
“When is the next Full Moon?” I asked quietly.

“In three nights,” she said, rising as she gathered a handful of herbs into a dark pouch.

Three nights?

“Prepare yourself. When the moon rises, so will you.”

Wait, Kael won’t even let me out of his chamber, talk more of coming out late at night.

“Kael won’t understand this. I’m not safe with the pack; they see me as their enemy. They could kill me before I even get to you,” I explained.

“Of course they won’t,” she answered.

“You don’t understand…”

“Celine Moretti, you’re more than this. I’ve always known you were destined to be our Luna, to do what your mother, Elara, couldn’t,” Kaida cut in.

“About my mother… she was really a werewolf? I wish I had met her, even once,” I murmured.

“I understand your pain,” Kaida said.

“Speaking about her was forbidden,” I muttered.

No wonder Dad made her name forbidden because of the pain it brought, remembering she was killed.

“Why didn’t my father avenge her death?” I asked and immediately, the pouch fell to the floor as Kaida met my gaze.
