VENGEANCE AND DESTINY
VENGEANCE AND DESTINY
Celine's pov
“Please tell me, did my father avenge her death?” I repeated as she still stared at me.
“...Yes, he tried,” she answered.
“What really happened?” I pressed.
“He tried fighting the werewolves, which could have sparked another war, but he was stopped in time by Lucas,” Kaida said.
“Lucas Ross?” I asked.
“Yes. Lucas Ross.” She answered.
Lucas Ross was Damien's father, but he was no more. He had indeed been loyal to my father and the empire.
I took a deep breath. So this was how their history went. Well, now I need to speak about the present and future.
“How do I find you again?” I asked.
“Come here whenever you want to see me, I'll always be here,” she answered.
“That isn't true. I was here earlier, but I learned you traveled and that you weren't always around,” I countered.
She laughed loudly this time.
“You really believe that?” she asked, laughing.
“Yes. Or is that a lie?” I asked, furrowing a brow.
“Well, it isn't entirely false. I do travel often but you see…” She paused, scanning the hut, and made a gesture with her finger. “...this place is me, and I'm the hut,” she answered.
She's the hut? How is that even possible?
“I don't understand,” I admitted.
“I mean, each time I travel, though I leave, my presence and spirit still remain,” she said.
“Your presence and spirit remain?” I repeated.
“I know I'm asking too many questions, but I just want to know, help an inquisitive… Luna.” The words slipped out.
“Inquisitive Luna? You've accepted what you are?” she asked teasingly.
“I have no choice,” I exhaled.
“Choice? You do have a choice, and that's why you must let go of your revenge,” she answered.
That can never be possible. How could I let go while the beast that killed my father was still breathing.
“That's impossible. I can't stop that, not now and not ever. I've endured too much, crossed too many obstacles and I must see this through even if it means laying down my life. I'll gladly do it. I'll fight until my last breath, I'll make them feel what I felt and worse,” I spat, getting angry.
“Celine Moretti, I know you will fulfill the prophecy destined for you. Your mother Elara laid down her own life to see you live with the two worlds, but unfortunately she didn't succeed. You were her treasure and her reason to fight harder for peace,” Kaida said calmly.
I felt my heart beat faster as I stared at her, fighting back tears. Those words melted my heart but… I…
“How do you think your mother, Elara, would feel seeing her own daughter turn against her? Seeing her daughter, for whom she sacrificed, go against her own people? How would she feel seeing her daughter waging war when what she wanted was peace?” Kaida said.
“No!! No!!” I screamed, clamping my hands over my ears as I broke into tears.
“Celine Moretti, your destiny awaits you,” Kaida called.
I couldn't hold back the tears as they flowed freely from my eyes.
“Your destiny awaits you! Your destiny awaits you! Your destiny awaits you!” I kept hearing voices say.
No! I recalled how the werewolf raked its claws across my father’s head and then sank its fangs into him.
“No!!” I shouted as I stood up.
I wiped my tears. “I can't abandon the revenge! They took away the people I love so much… I won't stop until everyone in this pack is dead!!” I shouted.
Kaida burst into laughter.
“This isn't the time for mockery! Stop laughing!!” My voice grew loud and firm, but instead Kaida's laughter grew.
Had it been I had a gun I would have sent a bullet into her brain.
Her laughter made me angrier. And I had to make her stop.
“You seem to know a lot about me but not everything,” I said, but she continued laughing.
“What do you mean?” she chuckled.
“You know everything about my birth. You stated at my birth I was my mother's replica, though I don't know who she is, I doubt that. Whatever prophecy or similarities between me and her died after her death.”
She stopped laughing as she stared at me in awe.
“I say it to you; I'm my father's replica. A ruthless donna. I lived my whole life with him, emulating him. He was my role model and I wanted to be just like him and even better. He didn't see all of that, but I was ready to prove it, and even though it means proving to him while he's dead, I will. I'll avenge his death just like I should,” I said.
She burst into laughter.
“With the time you've spent in this pack, I thought you would open your eyes and see through it all. I believed your hard heart for revenge had been melted by our Alpha; Alpha Kael… but...”
“...that was a mistake,” she finished.
“I won't surrender my vengeance for a mating bond or for love,” I said firmly.
“Do you know what a mating bond is? No, you don't, obviously. Do you even know what love is? I guess you don't either. You're just a mafia donna who has no room for emotion, only strategies to fight and trade illegal weapons,” she spat, her tone serious.
“Besides, that's what mafias do. Or are you trying to insult me?” I asked her.
“No, I'm trying to remind you what exactly you are since you're a true replica of your father,” Kaida said.
“I'm a replica of Marco Moretti, be it good or bad,” I answered.
“Your choice. I will leave you with an assignment. I don't know when exactly you'll get answers. Find out more before doing something you would regret later,” she rang.
What will I regret later? Nothing, I'll regret nothing. She's only trying to scare me.
“I can't regret avenging my father's death,” I said firmly.
