CHP.27-The End

**Back to Cecil's POV.**

I raced after Lilly. Pushing my body as hard as I could. I would shift into wolf form but my scent would be more potent. Easy to follow once we returned back to the house.

Her blonde hair whipped through the trees, forever picking up pace. I was attempting to keep up, dodging branches and jumping over small shrubbery, but she managed to do the same. Her headstart had given her a direct advantage, the thought struck panic inside me. As I started to become unsure if I could catch her in time.

We began to near the top of the territory, as I could start to smell multiple scents of wolves. Many of which I didn't recognize. This was bad. Very bad.

"Lilly, stop!" I yelled out again, she paused momentarily to look back at me,

"I'm sorry, but I won't let more wolves die for me," her eyes held sadness, I was sure she was referring to her bond mate, who died protecting her. My eyes began to water as I continued running toward her.

"Please! Don't do this!" She looked at me once last time before continuing her running. Her break had allowed me to catch up tremendously, but she was still a good thirty meters ahead.

She continued toward the direction of the scents. Continuing a few more meters I began to hear noise; snarling, whinging, and growling. It seemed the fighting had already commenced between the two packs.

I began to panic more. We were about to run right into it. I watched as Lilly ran straight past a male wolf, who was lunging toward another. They almost immediately halted as they saw the flash of blonde past them.

I surged forward before, managing to burst into a clearing. Hundreds of wolves were clawing at one another, biting and wrestling. The smell of blood was potent in the air. I scanned the crowd desperately, looking for Lilly's blonde hair. But I was sidetracked when a loud powerful growl echoed around the clearing.

It was so dominant and so angry, each wolf in the near vicinity whipped their head to find the source. My eyes also tracked to the origin of the noise, only to land of Zeke's wolf, standing beside a human body on the floor. I didn't have a chance to identify the body before Zeke's wolf surged forward.

I quickly looked at where he was charging too, a large deep brown wolf with multiple large wounds. I recognized him as Titus. He was charging towards Zeke's moving figure. I inhaled anxiously as I watched their large frames travel toward one another at intense speed. Only to find my line of sight cut off by a blonde figure.

Lilly.

She was also sprinting toward the two wolves, looking as though she would get her self involved in the scuffle. I felt myself begin to panic as their three frames looked almost certain to collide,

"Lilly, stop!" I yelled out the words in desperation. But she didn't slow down as she launched herself between two large wolves who had lunged at one another. Time seemed to move in slow motion as I watched the claws of Titus' wolf tear across her stomach, while Zeke's jaws had sliced through her shoulder before they could even realize what had happened.

The wolves landed on their feet, while Lilly's torn body bounced onto the ground. I took off across the clearing, pushing through wolves as I made my way toward her. Zeke and Titus's wolves stared down at her body in confusion, their momentary aggression toward one another forgotten.

I fell to my knees at her side, rolling her over onto her back. Lilly groaned in pain. Her shoulder was missing a large chunk while her stomach had been split. Human bodies were not made to withstand an attack from a wolf.

I felt tears weld up in my eyes, as she blinked in confusion. Titus' battered human figured dropped to his knees beside Lilly, working to press his hands to her stomach. Tears flowing down his cheeks as he took in her fragile state.

"No no no NO! Where's a doctor, we need a doctor!" He exclaimed in desperation, his eyes looking toward the wolves surrounding him. Lilly looked up at him, her face already paling as blood began to pool beneath her, soaking into the dirt. She delicately lifted her hand to touch his cheek, her eyes wet with tears and her eyebrows creased in pain.

"I'm sorry," her whispered words barely audible as she continued to stare at Titus. Titus shook his head, tears continuing to cascade down his cheeks.

"No, I'm sorry. I wasn't what a mate should be." He cried out as he grasped the outside of her hand with his larger one, and nuzzled into it. They continued to stare at one another. I almost felt invasive watching their interaction.

She closed her eyes softly, a single last tear falling down her cheek, before her breathing ceased. Her bloodloss too extreme for her body to heal from. Titus inhaled, the pain of losing a mate, marked or not. It would be extreme.

"I'll see you on the moon, my flower." Titus leaned down to kiss her forehead, his body beginning to shake from the force of his cries. Leaving his forehead touching hers as his tears continued to rack his body. I felt my own tears spill over my cheeks as her passing settled into my brain.

Titus looked up to Zeke who had just shifted,

"Please, kill me and be done with it," he pleaded at Zeke. Zeke shook his head as he placed a hand on my shoulder.

"Please!" Titus cried out again.

"You're a strong wolf, you will not die on your knees like this," Zeke spoke the words confidently, his mind made up. Titus gently placed Lilly body onto the floor, slowly pulling his hands away he rose to his feet.

"Then let us finish this challenge." Zeke barely had the time to register the words before Titus launched at him, his canines extended. Zeke managed to evade his attack stepping to the side, before gripping Titus from behind, his arm secured around his neck as he held him in a headlock.

"I'm sorry," Zeke whispered softly,

"Please," Titus replied. Zeke released a breath, a tear running from his eye before he snapped Titus' neck. The sound of bone breaking distinctly heard before Titus' struggling body stilled. Zeke's sadness immediately flowed through the bond, so overpowering I nearly struggled to breathe.

He sighed softly before lowering his brother's body onto the ground, placing it next to Lilly's.
