CHP.21-New Conversations

I moved through the kitchen, setting the bone dry plates on the counter, I know it wasn't my job but I didn't see the need to leave the plates on the table when I was heading here anyway. Moving to the fridge I reached in to grab some water. I slowly moved across the kitchen, locating two glasses before filling both the top. I'm sure Zeke was also thirsty.

He had headed to our room and I promised to meet him there. Serenity offered to lead the three sisters to a spare bedroom where they could sleep. We offered them separate beds but the insisted they bunk together. I understood why.

Looking at how tight-knight they were I couldn't help but miss my younger sister Aphrodite. She was truly a nut case and I remembered how close we used to be. Goddess, it seemed like siblings were just been thrown into my face now.

Lifting the glass to drink, I nearly dropped it in fright as someone spoke my name.

Turning around I saw Lilly standing in the doorway, I had no idea how she knew I was here but I'm assuming she could scent me.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you. I was just coming to get some water." Lilly spoke clearly, she didn't seem confident but she wasn't nervous. That was good at least.

"No no here." I slid the untouched glass of water across to her. Moving to go grab another for Zeke, "did your sisters want some?"

"No, they're already asleep I think." I nodded before grabbing the single glass.

"You're not as large as I thought you would be." Lilly seemed to ponder her thoughts out loud. I wasn't quite sure how to respond to that.

"Sorry?" I questioned, she shook her head before taking a sip of the water.

"Forgive me, I don't mean to be rude. But for some reason in my head, I just pictured you to be bigger, and more ugly. I supposed I thought the 'Luna of new wolves' would be some great warrior or something." She shrugged as she sat herself down on the chair. I could feel myself growing agitated at her comments. Was she trying to degrade me?

"Well, I'm terribly sorry to have let you down and not been the Luna you were looking for. Feel free to leave and perhaps you will find her." I spat out as I returned my water to the fridge. I collected my glasses and made the move to leave.

"Wait, I'm sorry. I haven't really interacted with anyone besides my sisters for a while, even before then I was told I didn't have a filter," she glanced down at her water, "I didn't mean to insult you, I just, just didn't think you'd be so pretty."

"Are you trying to apologize with flattery?" I smirked at her.

"Is it working?" She lifted her eyes to mine hopefully and I couldn't help the smile that graced my face.

"I can tell you three are going to be a handful that's for sure." She laughed as she nodded her head.

"For sure, my parents struggled when there were five of us, let alone three." I released a giggle at her comment, even though part of it filled me with sadness.

"What happened to the other two. If you want to talk about it you don't have to." I reassured her as I took a seat on the barstool beside her, placing my waters on the table in front of me. She shook her head before speaking,

"No, it's fine. I had an older brother and a younger sister. My brother, Evan was two years older and my younger sister Marcey was 2 years younger than Willow. Evan died during a revolt that went wrong in the first year of the war, Marcey was killed by Pithrax." She smiled sadly as she recalled them, "do you have any siblings?"

"Used too, two older brothers both killed during the war, and my sister sort of went missing a few years back, so she's MPD." I nodded sadly.

"MPD?" Lilly questioned.

"Missing presumed dead," I clarified, her mouth formed a small o as she understood.

"Well, lucky for you, you have a mate to get to and I would hate to come in between that," she nudged my shoulder playfully. I smiled at her.

"Do you miss him?" I couldn't help but ask.

"Yea, he was my bond-mate, not a true mate. But I like to think he was the love of my life regardless." Her expression held sadness as she stared intensely at the glass of water before her. I squeezed her shoulder in reassurance, causing her to look across to me. Tears welding in her eyes. I pulled her into me, her head resting against my shoulder as she began to cry.

Something told me she hadn't had the chance to do this yet. Playing the role of the big strong sister and constantly being focused I doubt she had the time to just mourn. I rubbed her back gently as her sobs echoed around the kitchen.

It was my job as her Luna to provide her comfort. She was my female now, and I would take care of them.
