Chapter 17 — She Has No Filter

Jason POV:

The situation with Dana and I had become a thing of the past and ever since she made it known that she didn't like the fact that I skipped dinner to supposedly avoid her, I've tried as best as I could to make sure not to miss eating around her so she doesn't get in her feelings and actually believe that I have something against her cause that is definitely the most false assumption I have heard in a long while.

I personally have nothing Dana as a person cause she appears to be a really chill person but unfortunately, we haven't really had time to talk cause it's either I'm with Blake or I'm busy or she's busy so having a one on one conversation is something that hasn't really happened between us and since I'm not one to exactly force any kind of friendship, I decided against putting any kind of effort cause at the end of the day, she's only married to Blake temporarily.

"Hello!" A loud voice snaps me out my thoughts and I turn to see a displeased Dana standing right behind the sofa I was seated on.

"Oh hi, what's up?" I greet, wondering what it is she wanted.

"Nothing much. I just came downstairs to walk around a bit and as soon as I saw you, I thought, oh, let me say hello but then someone was too engrossed in their thoughts to hear me calling out his name for the first three minutes and that got me frustrated which is why I yelled hello," she replies and the fact that she's capable of talking this fast without catching a breath really did fascinate me sometimes.

"I apologize for that. My mind is just really all over the place right now," I say to her, and she pursed her lips in a weirdly attractive way that distracted my thoughts for a few seconds.

"Is everything okay with you? I'm even surprised you aren't working as usual," she says sarcastically, and I roll my eyes.

"Today's a Saturday darling and I deserve to take a break for at least a few hours," I respond.

"Hmm, true that but then again, don't dudes your age usually chill by hanging out with friends or something or are you one of those men who don't have a social life?" she asks, and I must say, for someone who claims she was mad at me just a few days, she definitely acts like it.

"What makes you think that?" I ask, not surprised by the fact that she's assuming that I'm a loner.

"Well duh, you've literally been one hundred focused on your work through the week and any normal guy with actual friends would probably be out with their friends to let loose and have fun but here you are, sitting on the sofa like a couch mummy and staring into space like you're possessed. I don't know about you but that just screams sad and lonely to me," she blurts out bluntly and I couldn't help but laugh at how confident she was about her inaccurate assumption.

"So that's it? That's why you think I don't have friends? Cause I'm indoors on a Saturday by 4 p.m.? Well, it may interest you to know that I am an artist and not just some small time artist and I'm pretty popular among certain people and just so you know, people like me are known to have lots of friends so don't go around calling me a loner cause that's Blake's thing and not mine," I state to her clearly so she can get that thought out of her head.

The last thing I am is a loner who has no friends, but I did tone down on the going out habit ever since I moved in with Blake because I didn't want him to feel disrespected and I also didn't wish to trigger his insecurity.

"Exactly, it's Saturday. You should be planning to go out or something or wait, do you just usually go out with Blake so now that he isn't here, you're staying indoors? If that's the case then I completely understand, it's makes perfect sense," she replies, and I mentally groan at another one of her ridiculous assumptions.

"I get the feeling that no matter how many times I argue that I just don't feel like going out simply because I'm not in the mood, you'll still find a way to argue that I'm only boring and blah blah blah but then again, what about you? What are you doing home and a freaking Saturday? Shouldn't you be preparing to go out with your friends, or do you also have no social life?" I fire back at her in a mocking tone, earning a displeased glare from her.

"Well, I won't deny the fact that I don't have the best social life, but I can assure you that I do know how to have fun when I want to which by the way is usually rare since I'm always busy working but then I do know how to have fun with my small circle of friends. The only problem now is, I'm now married to a freaking billionaire who also happens to be pretty famous to an extent and I can't be spotted partying randomly just a month after my wedding. Them Blake lovers who believe I don't deserve to be his wife are gonna come at me and I definitely don't want that," she replies, and I have to admit she was making sense.

Unfortunately, being associated with Blake publicly sometimes comes with a lot more negatives than positives especially when you're a new addition to his circle. People who don't know him paint him as a perfect guy which of course, he is but their definition of perfection is what I'd define as toxic and unhealthy and sadly, he has to always live up to their expectations because he's obsessed with his success and wouldn't want any mistake tainting his perfect reputation.

"You have a point, but you could still go out for shopping and do the stuffs you girls normally find interesting or do you not have anyone to do it with?" I tease and she scoffs.

"Oh, please Jason, not everyone is like you. And by the way, I’m leaving this house in a few hours so, hahaha, in your face!" she replies dramatically.

"Really? Where to if I may ask?" I ask.

"Well first, I'll go home to my siblings to say hello to them and after that, my best friend and I will go to any secluded bar to chill and maybe, just maybe I'll finally get laid," she replies, and I had admitted I wasn't expecting her to be this unfiltered with me but I'm definitely not complaining.

"You know when Blake told me you literally had zero filter and you were the type to simply say things without considering whoever it is that's listening, I didn't exactly understand what he meant but trust me, now I get it and I must say, it's pretty interesting," I say to her, and she waves me off dismissively.

"I don't think I'm that unfiltered cause hello, have you met my best friend? If my way of being direct surprises you then you'll probably have a heart attack just listening to Samantha speak and by the way, I don't think talking about having sex which is perfectly normal is something anyone should consider as vulgar especially since I'm not talking about it outside my house with some stranger," she replies defensively and I stare back at her, a little too fascinated by her somewhat bubbly and free personality. She definitely reminds me of the old me before I got together with the ever prim and proper Blake who only ever lets loose once in a blue moon.

"Trust me, I wasn't criticizing it cause it's pretty admirable. I guess I should wish you luck in getting laid or whatever but please be careful out there cause they're a handful of perverted bastards out there so watch out for them and avoid them," I say to hoping she's smart enough to be careful out there.

"You don't have to worry about that pretty boy because I can most definitely protect myself but now that I think about it, you'll be all by yourself over here and that thought alone makes me feel really sad for you especially since you've had a really isolated week. Don't you have any gay clubs to visit and just chill for at least an hour? Forgive me for being specific but I hear gay men prefer strictly gay clubs, so I'm assuming you do too," she says, and I couldn't help but roll my eyes at her.

"Okay first, the club thing isn't exactly one hundred percent true but then, they're much more comfortable in a space where they're allowed to be them, so I guess that makes sense to an extent. Secondly, isn't it a lot lonelier going into a club all by myself, without company and drinking by myself as well? Where's the fun in that?" I ask, itching to spill the third thing I wanted to correct but waiting for her reply first.

"I apologize for my brash assumption, I'm pretty sure you'll get used to hearing me talk brashly sometimes and as for the second question, you can easily make a new friend at the club or call up a friend you already have to go with you. I'm only pitying you because it seems pretty sad that you'll be spending your night alone, in this big, scary, lonely house and I unfortunately won't be here to keep you company for a while," she replies, trying to sound like she really pities me when it's obvious she's only mocking me.

"You do realize that it sounds like you're advising me to go and make a new friend in the sense that you want me to cheat on Blake, right? That's exactly how it sounds," I tell her.

"That is absolutely not what I meant and I'm pretty sure you know this. I'm just saying you should go out and have fun with a friend or two or more, but you know what, do whatever it is you like. I'm gonna mind my business now," she says defensively, and I chortle at how easy it was to trigger a reaction from her.

"So, you won't cancel on your friend to keep me company? I thought you actually cared about me Dana dear. Has your concern all this while being false?" I tease.

She scowled with a repulsed look on her face, "Like I would ever ditch my best friend just for you and miss a great chance to have actual sex. You have no idea how sexually starved I've been in the last couple months and now that I am a happy and worry-free woman, I deserve a really long night alone in the big strong arms of a fucking stranger," she fires back, and I honestly still can't get used to her unfiltered choice of words.

"Okay Dana, I get it, you're horny. You do not have to remind me every two fucking minutes," I say to her, not hiding the fact that she was making me slightly uncomfortable now.

"Well get used to it! Why are you acting so freaked out by a statement that isn't even that vulgar? Are you just shy cause I'm a girl or is it because we're not close enough for such conversations yet?" she asks, and I immediately have to correct that thought.

"I didn't think I had to address it at all, but to be clear Dana, I'm not just gay," I say to her, and she deadpans.

"What do you mean you're not just gay? Be clear with me, buddy," she demands.

"Oh, my goodness, it's pretty easy to understand but let me break it down. I'm not gay, I'm bisexual, which means I like both men and women. I just happen to be in a relationship with a man at the moment, but I play for both teams like people say." She seems to be a lot more surprised than I expected.

"Are you surprised?" I ask, noticing how silent she suddenly was.

"Uhm, to be honest, I am pretty surprised. I didn't think you were bi but don't stress, I'm over my shock," she replies and although she still looks somehow surprised, I decide against questioning her any further, so she doesn't get uncomfortable.

"If you say so," I reply simply, getting myself ready to exit this conversation since I could already sense the awkwardness.

"I think it's time I go get ready for tonight. Have a good evening and if you get too bored, just remember that I gave you an option. See you later, pretty boy," she adds. I chuckle lightly, watching her turn and walk away. For a split second, I caught myself actually checking her out from behind and I cannot believe how shameless I am.

Living with her would most definitely not be the easiest thing to do.
