Chapter 19: A Bad Wife

Dana POV:

"Cheers to going from standing behind the bar table to sitting comfortably on the customer's side and drinking however the fuck we want without having to worry about how much money we're spending," I squeal excitedly as Sam and I toast to the good life, immediately gulping down our first shot of vodka.

"You know Dana, I sometimes still can't believe this is all real. Like, you're telling me that you and I haven't worked twenty hours a day, every day in the last month? You're telling me that we can actually sit here on a freaking Saturday evening and buy whatever drinks we fucking want without actually crying about the cost or looking for some rich and generous good-looking guy to pay our bills? Like really sis? It feels so surreal babe. Don't think I can get used to this anytime soon," she says, and I couldn't agree more.

Sometimes, I still pinch myself really hard to make sure I wasn't living in some kind of long-term dream and whenever I realize that it's actually not a dream, I become grateful and thankful all over again.

"Sam, I don't think I can ever thank Blake enough for sharing his problem with me. I mean, if he didn't, I'd still be working my ass off like some crazy woman and I wouldn't even know what it actually feels like to not have to worry about money every second you breath. This life that he, thanks to God, has given me, is something I'll never be able to thank him enough for and that's why I need to try really hard to not mess things up for him," I reply, and she frowns.

"You're doing pretty good in my opinion cause I mean, some girls would have just taken the money and spent lavishly like some dense cow but you're working hard to make a stable and steady living for yourself almost immediately and that my friend, is very commendable in my opinion," she says and I smile a little at her kind words before letting out a sigh of frustration.

"Is there something bothering you Dana? Are you having issues with Blake already?" she asks.

"Oh no, no Sam, it's definitely not that," I reply, and she furrows her brows in confusion.

I pour myself another shot, doing the same to hers as well before chugging down my glass in one go and enjoying the burning sensation of the liquid going down my throat.

"Then what is it? Why the long face?" she questions.

I sigh, "Promise you won't lash out on me or insult me?" I reply, earning a very expected eye roll from her.

"Just talk to me Dana. I won't be making any blind promises until you tell me what the hell is up with you. What exactly is making you think you're not being good enough for Blake?" she questions insistently.

"Well, it's j-just, something weird has been happening to me around Jason," I say to her nervously and she's immediately confused.

"What do you mean something weird is happening between you and Jason? He's Blake's boyfriend, am I right? What business could you possibly have with him? Does he bother you? Is he spiteful? Is that it?" she blurts out and I'm quick to shake my head vigorously to debunk her assumptions.

"Relax Sam. That isn't what I meant, and I didn't say it's between us. I said it's happening to me around him. There's this weird feeling I get when I'm around him and as much as I hate to admit it, it's really starting to make me feel like shit," I tell her, hating the fact that my mind has been all over the place just because of him.

"You do realize that you're still not speaking clearly, right? What exactly happens to you around him? Does he scare you? Make you feel insecure? What is it?" she hisses, raising her voice in frustration.

"Pipe the fuck down, Sam. Why in the world would he make me feel insecure?" I hiss. She rolls her eyes, pours herself another shot and gulps it down immediately.

"Listen to me Dana, I don't know why you're stalling and what it is that's happening between you and that man but whatever it is, please remember he is Blake's boyfriend and the last thing you'd want is getting into some sort of issue with him and creating a rift between yourself and Blake. I get you're the wife on paper but we both know whose side Blake would take if there's a fall out, which is why I'd advise you not to push your luck," she says in a serious tone that made me slightly uncomfortable.

"I guess you're assuming he doesn't like me or that I don't like him and that's what's happening, but the truth is, I'm the problem here because I..." I let out a heavy sigh, feeling embarrassed at the next words that were about to leave my mouth.

"I'm attracted to Blake's boyfriend," I finally let out and Samantha's eyes immediately grow two times wider.

"Wait, what? You're attracted to your husband's boyfriend? What the fuck is wrong with you Adriana? Did you forget he's actually gay? In other words, he likes men and not women," she asks snappily and embarrassed would be an understatement to describe how I felt at this moment.

Ever since I found out earlier today that Jason was bisexual and that he also liked women, I haven't been myself one hundred percent. A part of me suddenly felt happy about it while the other part of me felt upset and disgusted. Disgusted because, how can I be happy that my husband's boyfriend was one hundred percent into men? How can I even be shameless enough to actually celebrate that?

"Well, that's what I thought too Samantha. I thought he liked men and I couldn’t believe I was undressing a taken man in my head, but now, I'm finding out that he’s bisexual. Can you believe that Sam? Isn't it just ridiculous?" I hiss and she's quick to throw me a dirty look.

"So what, Dana? So what if he's bi? Why the fuck is that even your business? His sexuality doesn't concern you because no matter what, he has a boyfriend, and that boyfriend happens to be the same man that is responsible for where we are right now. The fact that your mind is even thinking anything with him is just so fucking ridiculous, Dana. You really need to get over it right now!" she hisses in a snappy tone, obviously not impressed with me.

"Sam, you don't get it. This isn't normal for me either. You know me better than anyone else, Sam. I'm never one to go after a man for any reason whatsoever but I swear to you, babe, ever since I set my eyes on Jason, there hasn't been a day that he doesn't pop up in my head. It's so fucking annoying, and I want it to stop but it's not stopping and it's really starting to drive me crazy over here," I tell her, not bothering to hide my vexation.

"You have got to be fucking with me right now, Dana," Sam mutters under her breath, playing with her shot glass as if trying to think of something.

"You know what, Dana? I think you just need to have sex. You're probably just horny from how lonely you've been all this while and that's why you can't seem to get the nasty thoughts of him out of your head. I'm almost positive that whoever it is you've been fucking in your head, it isn't Jason. But you happen to see him a lot these days, and your brain is using his image as a visual representation of what you really need, and you know what that is? A good roll in the hay," she states confidently. I mentally roll my eyes at her dramatic conclusion.

"Okay, so you're saying I just need to fuck it out of me, and I'll be fine?" I ask.

"Well, if you have a fucking conscience, you'll do anything and everything to be fine. Drooling over that man shouldn't even be a topic of conversation between us because he is a huge freaking no!" she responds, and I honestly had to agree with her.

"If that's the case then I think we should change bars or something because I don't see anyone here who is going to approach me for a good night and since that seems like the only solution to my problem right now, I need to work on getting it over with," I say to her, and she scoffs.

"You seem to be forgetting you're married to a celebrity, darling. This is the only secluded bar that isn't too far away from home. Speaking of home, I may need to leave soon because I have three kids and an overgrown baby to deal with at home and I can't afford to stay out for too long," she says. My stomach drops.

"You promised we were going to have fun, Samantha. Didn't you hire a babysitter to watch the kids? Besides, Jencarlos is home with them, and I know he sometimes acts like an overgrown child but he's a pretty responsible person. You can trust him to take care of Zac," I assure her, knowing very well that her fear is mostly because she isn't with her 3-year-old son.

"I know, you idiot, but I need to leave because some dude over there has been staring at you for over ten minutes. I think the only reason he isn't here yet is because you're not alone, so I think it's best I leave so you can do your thing and get those sick thoughts out of your mind," she says. When I try to turn to check who she’s talking about, she stops me.

"Don't look at him just yet, dummy! You need to pretend like you're not aware that he's staring," she tells me snappily and I frown.

"I only wanted to know if he's good looking, so I know whether or not he'll be a waste of my time," I tell her earning an eye roll.

"Just keep your cool and focus on your phone and your drink and if you unfortunately, don't get approached by any guy, get a cab and go straight home. I'll call you when I get home," she says and without waiting to hear a reply from me, she gets up, picks her purse and immediately turns to leave, leaving me to my slightly drunk self.

I receive a message notification almost immediately she was out of sight and when I check to see who it was, it turned out to be none other than my crazy best friend, Samantha.

Sam~ Fix your dress and your lipstick cos he's right behind you. Goodluck! Xoxo.

I turn my head around out of curiosity as soon as I read her message and surprisingly, my eyes immediately meet with an unfamiliar face that seems to be walking towards where I'm seated, and I nervously turn back and face my drink with my head hanging low.

"Hello miss," A male voice greets in a low deep tone and when I look up to see who it was, it unsurprisingly turns out to be the guy I happen to lock eyes with a few minutes ago and boy oh boy, was he better looking than I expected.

"Uh…h-hi," I stutter a reply nervously, hating myself at this very moment for how timid I sounded.

"Sorry to bother you miss but can I perhaps join you? I promise I won't bore you," he says and when I realize that I couldn't form actual words at that moment, I'm quick to nod positive and he wasted no time before taking a seat beside me.

"I'm Brian by the way," he introduces and after struggling for a few long seconds, I was finally able to kick my nervousness out the window.

"Nice to meet you Brian, I'm Adriana," I reply with a smile, putting my hand out and the minute he took my hand in his, I knew I would not be making it back home tonight.
