Chapter-55

As the first rays of sunlight peeked through the curtains, I pushed them fully open, allowing the warmth of the sunlight to caress my face. Gazing out, I watched the world come to life, the darkness retreating before the dawning of a new day.

Outside the walls of my room, the mansion was eerily silent, as if it too knew what was about to unfold. It had been years since a council meeting had been held within its walls. There was a time, the mansion had been something other than a single man's domain and a BDSM club. It had held and protected the Landry pack; it was my fault it was no longer the refuge for them it had once been. After Kira's dissapearance, I'd handed the reigns of Alpha over to Marcus, and he had moved the whole pack to his own mansion and grounds.

Now, as I peered out, seeing the gardens, the encroaching treelines, I realized there was nothing left that indicated that a flourishing pack had once lived here. I didn't regret stepping down, for I had needed the time to heal. But it was time I became what I was born to be once again.

The council chamber was a grand room, lined with portraits of our ancestors, their stern gazes seemingly judging me as I approached the heavy oak doors.

With a deep breath, I pushed the doors open, the creak echoing through the empty corridors. The council members were already seated, their expressions a mix of curiosity and trepidation. They rose as one when they saw me, a show of respect that felt both foreign and unwarranted.

"Thank you for coming," I said, my voice steady despite the turmoil within me. "We have matters of great importance to discuss."

The room was a tableau of silence as they took their seats once more, their eyes never leaving me. The steady tick of the grandfather clock was the only sound in the oppressive silence as I recounted the tales of my brother's tyranny. Each word was a blow, a revelation of the horrors the Landry Pack had suffered under his rule.

As the last of my accusations hung in the air, the room remained still, the tension thick and uncomfortable. It was Evangeline who broke the silence, her voice firm and resolute.

"We stand with you, Alpha," she said, her gaze unwavering.

One by one, the others voiced their agreement, a chorus of defiance that reverberated through the chamber. The weight of their support filled me with a newfound resolve, and for the first time in a long time, I felt the Alpha stirring within me.

The day passed in a blur of planning and strategy. The air in the mansion was charged with the scent of rebellion, a heady aroma that seemed to seep into every corner. The whispers grew bolder, the glances more determined. I knew that come nightfall, when the moon was high in the sky, the pack would stand as one to face the monster in our midst.

As the sun dipped below the horizon, the scent of my power filled the air. The club had been a mask I had worn to hide from the truth of what I was born to be. But now, as I once again donned the mantle of the Alpha, I felt the true power of my heritage surge through me.

Walking through the moonlit garden, I shifted into my Alpha form and quickly covered the ground to my brothers mansion. Within minutes, I found myself outside my brother's chamber. The door was unguarded, a sign of his arrogance or perhaps a silent dare. I didn't knock, didn't bother with the formalities. This was not a meeting of equals but a reckoning.

Pushing the door open, I stepped in, ready to fight for the pack that was mine by birthright. The look of surprise on my brother's face was the first victory of the night, but I knew the battle for being the Alpha had only just begun.
