Chapter 111
Chloe's POV
I never imagined my wolf spirit would arrive at a moment like this!
When that strange, wild power erupted inside me, the entire world transformed.
My vision sharpened, my sense of smell heightened, and my limbs surged with unprecedented explosive strength.
But at the same time, I felt utterly unfamiliar with myself.
This was a completely new body, and every movement required me to adapt all over again.
I tried to sprint forward but nearly tripped over my own hind legs.
"Don't panic," a low, elegant female voice echoed in my mind. "My name is Flashwing. We are one, Chloe."
My wolf spirit! She had finally emerged!
"Flashwing..." I murmured the name in my thoughts, sensing her presence.
She felt like the other half of my soul—both familiar and foreign.
Morena's attack came again. Instinctively, I wanted to dodge, but Flashwing tried to counterattack instead.
Our conflicting intentions made my movements sluggish.
I nearly got my hind leg caught in the thorns when, at the critical moment, Zeus lunged forward and knocked the vines aside with his body.
We tumbled across the ground several times before regaining our footing.
"Chloe, don't try to control me with human thinking. Let go. Let instinct take over!" Flashwing's voice rang out again, this time with a hint of instruction.
I took a deep breath, trying to relax my tense nerves.
Lightning flew to our side at that moment, releasing bolts of electricity to cover us.
We formed a triangular defensive formation, but the witch's dark magic was clearly stronger, and we were being suppressed at every turn.
"You think you can fight me right after awakening?" Morena's shrill laughter cut through the thunder. "A useless wretch who can't even control her own wolf spirit dares to challenge me?"
Her words ignited my anger.
I tried to charge at her, but my body nearly stumbled from the imbalance.
Zeus propped me up with his shoulder, helping me steady myself.
In that moment, our eyes met.
Even in wolf form, I could see the concern in his gaze. Warmth flooded my heart, and the bond of destiny felt stronger than ever.
Morena clearly had no intention of giving us more time to adapt.
The giant carnivorous flower behind her suddenly released corrosive spores that spread like purple mist.
When the spores made contact with Lightning's electricity, they actually weakened its intensity, causing the electric arcs to dim.
Immediately after, countless black thorns wove into a massive net, forcibly separating me from Ivan and Lightning.
I heard Zeus's urgent roar, but it was quickly cut off by the net.
I was trapped in a cage woven from thorns. The vines were covered in sharp spikes. I tried to tear at them with my claws, but the thorns were unnaturally tough and only left wounds on my paw pads.
"Chloe, merge with me completely," Flashwing's voice sounded again, this time with commanding firmness. "Trust me."
Abandoning reason and letting instinct take full control—for someone who had been taught from childhood to always stay calm and in control, this was the hardest thing to do.
But right now, I had no other choice.
I closed my eyes.
I felt Flashwing's consciousness merge with mine, our boundaries beginning to blur.
I was no longer Chloe, nor was I Flashwing—I was both, united as one. A primal, powerful force surged from the depths of my soul, and my claws began to glow with an amber light.
I struck again, this time with smooth, precise movements.
The amber blade of light tore through those resilient dark magic thorns as easily as slicing through butter.
The cage collapsed, and I was free.
Morena clearly hadn't expected this.
A flash of shock crossed her face, and that moment of distraction became the critical opening for our counterattack.
Ivan's POV
When I saw Chloe burst out of the thorn cage, pride and joy surged through me.
But I couldn't afford to admire Chloe's graceful form right now...
These damn vines kept regenerating no matter how many we destroyed, as if they had an endless supply of power.
I tore apart a vine, and the sap that oozed from the break actually flickered with faint electric light.
I froze for a moment, then followed the growth pattern of the vines with my eyes—they always spread preferentially toward wherever Lightning released electricity, like plants chasing sunlight.
"They're secretly siphoning the lightning energy," Zeus suddenly said. "Look at the color of those vines—the closer they are to Lightning, the thicker they grow."
I observed carefully. He was right.
Under Morena's dark magic enhancement, the vines that had been struck by Lightning's electricity hadn't withered at all. Instead, they grew even more lush, their surfaces even glowing with a faint silver-blue sheen.
Damn it. Our weapon was feeding the enemy!
If this continued, we'd be exhausted to death.
"We need to change tactics," Zeus said in my mind. "We'll only grow more passive like this."
"I know," I replied. "I have a crazy plan."
I rushed to Lightning's side. It was panting, clearly aware that its attacks were being exploited.
I lifted my head and met the gaze of this thunder elemental spirit.
"Come on, buddy!" I shouted. "Give me all your power!"
Lightning seemed to understand my intent.
It howled toward the sky, and all the electricity around its body began to contract and condense—from its limbs, tail, and spine, every current converged toward its core. Then—
Boom!
All the lightning poured into my body like a waterfall.
Excruciating pain swept through me. I felt every cell burning, electric currents surging beneath my skin, every hair standing on end. Zeus roared in my consciousness: "Hold on! Don't let the power spiral out of control!"
Morena sensed the danger.
She manipulated a massive energy orb, its purple-black glow laced with corrosive essence, and sent it hurtling straight toward me.
Just as the energy ball was about to strike, a brown figure shot out from the side.
Chloe knocked the energy ball off course with incredible speed, but the residual shockwave hit her, scorching a patch of her fur and filling the air with the smell of burnt hair.
She whimpered in pain but still gritted her teeth and stood back up, her eyes filled with determination.
In that moment, my heart was deeply moved.
This woman—my destined mate—was protecting me with her life.
"Don't let her sacrifice be in vain!" Zeus roared.
I knew. There was no turning back now.
The lightning power boiled inside me, and Zeus began to transform—my eyes turned into pure white electric light, my entire body wrapped in silver-blue arcs of electricity, and every step I took left scorched footprints on the ground.
I had become a true "Thunder Incarnate."
I let out a low growl and charged toward Morena like a cannonball.
The witch released all her thorns in terror, trying to block me, but the lightning around my body vaporized them instantly. Those once-resilient vines were as fragile as paper in the face of absolute energy.
I slammed into Morena's magical shield.
Lightning and dark magic collided violently, erupting in blinding white light. The shockwave swept across the entire canyon, throwing everyone back.
I felt cracks forming in the shield. Morena screamed, desperately trying to maintain her defense.
But her magical barrier ultimately shattered.
The lightning struck her body. The witch let out a piercing shriek as half her body was charred by the electric current, releasing a nauseating burnt stench.
But the dark magic protected her core at the last moment, and she didn't die immediately.
"Lord Louis will avenge me!" she spat her venomous threat. "The entire Lightning Wolf Pack will pay for this!"
Before she finished speaking, she transformed into a cloud of black mist and fled.
The magical barrier collapsed with her departure. The purple shield above the canyon shattered like glass.
The lightning energy in my body was depleted, and I collapsed to the ground after reverting to human form.
In my last moment of consciousness, I felt someone embrace me—Chloe's warm body temperature.
We won...
