Chapter 133: Sabine II

Chapter 133: Sabine II
"Do you want to tell me what happened during your journey on planet Uranus?" Sabine probed.

Bernice shook her head, no.

"But you should have known that Rojan is set on his principles. He has been that way for decades now," she said.

"I know," Bernice said and looked away, averting her eyes.

"You should have known he is righteously waiting for his fated mate," she added.

"I know," Bernice replied and wiped away a tear that slipped down her cheeks.

"Oh dear, why did you do this to yourself?" Sabine dropped her handbag and drew close to hug her.

"I thought I would be able to win him over, I thought I had a chance," Bernice cried as she hugged her tight "Now I know I will never compare to his mate. More so, now that I am a nymph."

"Hey," Sabine drew back and wiped the tears from her eyes. "Don't feel bad for being a nymph. You are beautiful and the right man for you will love you no matter what you are."

"I hate him, Sabine. I hate him so much for being so nice to me and making me fall for him," Bernice whimpered.

"Shush, don't say anything. Rojan is a good guy, that's just his nature. You will get through this, trust me you will be fine," Sabine said, rubbing her back.

They stood like that for long minutes, with Bernice crying and Sabine consoling her.

What a train wreck those fraternal brothers were.

Wayne and Rojan.

Gorgeous-looking men, perfect in every sense except when it came to handling women. One had found his mate and was unsatisfied, making a fuss because she was human.

Another was pinning for his mate day and night, waiting for the day he would finally meet her. Refusing to explore any other possibility and hurting the feelings of the women around him.

Indeed, nobody had it all. There was always a flaw, an imperfection, a shortcoming.

Such was life.

"Care for some chocolate ice cream?" Sabine offered and withdrew to gaze into Bernice's eyes that had gone completely white with her emotion.

"You're not going to send me back?" Bernice asked.

"I think I can put up with you for a few more days, after which we could decide on what to do next," she wiggled her eyebrows.

Bernice's face brightened with a smile and she nodded "Yes, I want chocolate ice cream."

Sabine crossed over to her fridge and pulled open the door "Let's see what we got here."

"Look Sabine," Bernice called after her.

She turned around and saw Bernice protrude and retract her antennae from her hair line "I just noticed I could do it last night and my fangs, I grew the second one on my left side today."

Sabine beamed with satisfaction. She was happy to see her discover more of herself each day and feel enthusiastic about her features.

She had just snatched the rectangular bowl with 'chocolate ice cream' boldly written on it when she heard a loud boom.

The foundations of her house shook, but held strong.

What was that?

She wondered as she supported herself with the fridge.

Across from her, Bernice had fallen to the ground.

"What the hell is that, an earthquake?" Bernice asked as she rose from the floor.

"Misty Plane has no history of earthquakes-" she was still speaking when another loud crash sounded on her house.

Everything vibrated from the force of the impact.

She set the ice cream on her kitchen table and walked over to her living room. There she unlocked a small window in her parlor, one she never really bothered to make use of.

Once the locks had come free, she pushed the panels open and peered outside.

That was when she saw her.

The necromancing fey that had locked her up below her castle, all those years ago.

Here she was below her tree house with four men armed with swords. While in her palm was a blue flame in the form of a ball, and that hand was raised, ready to send another ball of fire her way.

"Get down!" She yelled to Bernice and dove to the ground.

Another resounding vibration racketed throughout the entire house, shaking it vigorously.
