Aren't We Blessed

Aren't We Blessed
On his way to the cafeteria, Vagamound sighted Belia coming out of the building. A warm smile spread across his lips as he quickened his pace and jogged toward her.

“Hey.”

I was stepping out of the cafeteria when I saw Vagamound's face appear before me.

He waved at me happily, saying, “I was just about to go look for you at the cafeteria. Have you eaten?”

“Yes.” I patted my round stomach, which had hardened from eating too much food, or so I thought. “Where did you go? I didn't see you when I stepped out of the class.”

“The sports teacher called for me, asking if I wanted to join the school basketball team.” The latter had long noticed Vagamound's strong physical fitness. Not wanting such a talent to slip through his fingers, he immediately took action.

“So what was your reply?” I raised my brows, looking at him with a hint of curiosity.

“I refused.” He answered, shrugging his shoulders casually.

“What?” My eyes went wide, not expecting him to give such an answer. I put away my shock and asked him, “Why?”

“Because I don't have much time to spend in this world. I've already gotten back the six orbits, and soon, I will need to head over to the immortal realm to settle all the disputes there.” He stretched his palm over and held my hand in his.

The warmth of his palm seeps into mine.

Vagamound lifted our conjoined hands and placed them against his chest. A gentle smile tugged across his lips as he opened his mouth. “When we get to the immortal realm, I promise to wed you in an elaborate way.” He lowered his head and kissed my fingers.

“What are you doing?” My cheeks flushed red at his actions. Then I noticed the students coming out of the cafeteria had stopped to watch our interaction. “People are watching. Let's move away.”

“Alright, let's walk together.” Vagamound smiled, holding my hand and pulled me away. But just as we moved two steps forward, he suddenly stopped and turned to look at me with eyes full of shock.

“What is it?” My eyes darted in panic when I saw his stupefied expression. “What happened?” Is there any danger around us?

I glanced at our surroundings, seeing nothing that seemed to be a call for an alarm.

Vagamound also realized that his actions might have been too out of place. He saw that the students around had also noticed his absurd reaction.

“Let's go somewhere quieter.”

He pulled me forward until we arrived at the back of the school gym.

“What are we doing–” Before I could finish my question, I saw him squat in front of me. “Hey!” I screamed, pressing my skirt against my thighs. “What do you think you're doing?”

Is he crazy? How could he think of doing such a thing on the school premises? My heart began to boil over with anger, my expression turning ugly.

Before I could lash out at him again, I heard him utter three words that instantly made me confused.

“They are two?”

“What are two?” I looked down at him, noticing he was staring intensely at my stomach. I moved a hand away from my thigh and pressed it slightly against my stomach.

“I can't tell their genders yet, but I can feel the brimming life force in your stomach.” He raised his head and grinned at me happily. “I can't believe we will be having two babies this soon, Belia.”

“What?” I opened my eyes wide in disbelief.

Babies? Did he just say two babies?

“I… I'm pregnant?” My voice trembled as I asked this question even though the answer was written clearly in his eyes.

Vagamound and I had made love quite a few times without using any protection. Hence, it's inevitable that I would be pregnant sooner or later.

“Yes.” He leaned back up, grinning brightly. “We are having two babies.”

“Two? You mean twins.” My brain was still slow to react to this unexpected information.

“Yeah.” He laughed. “Aren't we blessed, Belia?”

“I…” I put my hand down, taking a step backward. My expression changed instantly, turning pale at the discovery that I was carrying two lifeforms inside.

Now I understood why I was always tired and hungry no matter how much I ate.

What should I do? This is too soon for me.

The smile on Vagamound's face fades away when he sees my pale expression. “What's wrong?” He looked at me worriedly.

“I don't know. I…” I raised my head at him, tears filling my eyes. “I never expected that I would be a mother this soon.”

“Don't worry.” He moved closer, pulling me into a hug. “I'm here for you.” His hands patted my back gently.

“Thank you.” The tears fell freely across my cheeks.

I still can't bring myself to believe that I'm already pregnant.

I heard that labor pain can be quite excruciating. What should I do?

The thought of experiencing such pains makes me cry harder.
