Familiar Aura

Familiar Aura
“Don't you dare say some nonsensical stuff when you meet my mom,” I said to Vagamound, feeling nervous as we approached the door.

“Yes, I understand. You've already repeated that hundreds of times on our way here.”

Hearing his answer, it clicked to me that I had been repeating the same sentence again and again to him. “Actually, this is the first time I would ever bring a man to meet my mom, so I’m quite nervous. I just don't want it to end with bad memories.”

“It's alright, believe me.” He stretched out his hand and took my hand. “I will be the perfect gentleman I can be. You don't have to be nervous.”

Looking at his assuring expression, a strange sense of calmness overcame me, and my lips tilted upward in a smile. “Okay, let's go meet my mom.”

I pulled him forward towards the door and was about to press the doorbell when I suddenly felt a strong pull, dragging me away from the door.

“What is wrong?” I asked, confused, seeing him drawing me into his embrace.

“I feel a familiar aura from the inside.” Vagamound felt his eyelids twitch, knowing that this wasn't a good sign.

Why did he smell the scent of Kira at Belia's house?

Or could it be that it's just his thinking?

“Aura?” Not hearing him add anything to his sentence, I pulled myself out of his embrace. “Come on, let's just go in.”

I pressed the doorbell.

A minute later, the door opened in parting, revealing a middle-aged woman with a wave of beautiful blue hair hanging across her shoulder.

“Mom.” I smiled at her in greeting.

“You are here.”

“Yes.” I nodded and stepped to the side, revealing Vagamound, who was behind him.

Rong also looked at the tall young man, wanting to see the appearance of the person her daughter had brought to meet her.

The moment her gaze fell on him, her eyes widened in shock, her heart overcome by a sense of fear.

“You…” Her fingers trembled as she pointed at Vagamound.

Mom's strong reaction couldn't escape my eye.

“Mom, what's wrong?” I hurriedly reached out to hold her, seeing her appearance, which looked as if she was about to faint at any moment.

Why does Mom have a strong reaction to seeing Vagamound?

I looked back at Vagamound, only to see that he was standing in the same spot, with a troubled expression on his face.

He then forced out a smile and said, “It's been a long time since I last saw you, Lady Rong.”

Lady Rong? Is that Mom's name?

Well, woe to me for not knowing my mother's real name since I've always called her 'mom' my entire life.

But wait, that is not the case here?

How did Vagamound know Mom's name when even I, her daughter, had no clue of it?

And seeing from Mom's expression, it appears that she also recognizes Vagamound.

Have the two of them met before?

“You've met my mother before?” I asked Vagamound, wanting to hear his answer.

“It's a long story,” Vagamound answered, not saying much apart from that.

Rong finally calmed down from her shocked state and said to Vagamound. “Come in.”

It seems like everything has been ordained by fate.

She didn't know how her daughter had gotten to meet that man, but since he's already here, there's no need to hide the secret anymore.

I helped Mom into the house, and Vagamound followed behind.

As we arrived at the sitting room, I was stunned to see a silhouette sitting on the couch.

Wait, why does the person on the couch look so familiar?

“Xinger,” I called out in surprise.

“Huh.” Xinger turned her head around at the voice and then waved. “Hello, Belia.” Her eyes shifted to Vagamound. “Hi.”

“You two knew each other?” Mom asked, hearing me call Xinger's name.

“Yeah.” I nodded. “She is my classmate.” Turning to look back at Xinger, I asked. “What brings you to my home? Do you need me for something?”

Before she could reply, Mom answered. “She is my guest. You two sit down.” She gestured towards the seat as she sat.

“Okay.” Although I was curious about how my mom got to know Xinger, I still walked towards the seats with Vagamound and sat down.

Vagamound also stared at Xinger.

He previously had his suspicions about this young lady, but it wasn't enough to make him this uncomfortable.

Why did she have such a familiar aura?

He was sure that there wasn't such an aura on her body before. But now it was very prominent.

Vagamound's eyelids kept twitching, as if aiming to tell him the truth he was seeking.

Xinger noticed Vagamound's probing gaze but didn't say anything.

The whole room was silent until Mom decided to break it.

“I have something to tell you, Belia.” Those words feel like a calm before the storm.

“Me?” Okay, it seems like I'm the clueless one among the four of us.

“Don't you want to know about your identity and who your father is? I will tell you everything you need to know.”

And then begins the long narration.
