Chapter 534 Pregnancy

Chapter 534 Pregnancy

Brooks couldn't even take a day off to be with Kenna today?

How could Brooks be okay with her walking around alone, heavily pregnant?

"He's really busy," Kenna said.

There was no hint of complaint in her voice. Maybe he was overthinking it.

Ambrose smiled faintly.

If Kenna could understand, why couldn't he? Ambrose stayed quiet.

"So, how's life been abroad?" Kenna asked, breaking the silence.

"Pretty good," Ambrose replied easily. "Eating well, sleeping well."

"Good." Kenna nodded, then slowly added, "Got a new girlfriend?"

"Do I look like I'm lacking women?" Ambrose said, a bit smug.

"I mean a steady girlfriend," Kenna said, looking at him.

Their eyes met suddenly.

Ambrose quickly looked away. "Of course."

"Really?"

"Do you think I'd lie to you?" Ambrose said with a touch of emotion.

"Why didn't you bring her back?" Kenna asked.

"I came back in a hurry, didn't want her to travel back and forth," Ambrose started to fabricate. "Next time, when I have more time, I'll bring her."

"Is she pretty?" Kenna asked again.

"Of course, the women I date are always pretty," Ambrose boasted.

"Got a picture?" Kenna asked.

Ambrose was silent for a few seconds. "Yeah."

"Can I see it?"

"Why?" Ambrose joked. "Do you need to approve her?"

"I'm curious," Kenna said. "Curious about what kind of girl could make you settle down."

"I'm afraid you'll feel inferior," Ambrose made an excuse.

"I won't," Kenna said firmly.

"Next time, I'll bring her in person," Ambrose still refused.

"I want to see now."

"She doesn't photograph well, I don't want to make her look bad," Ambrose wouldn't budge.

"Why won't you show me? Is it because she doesn't exist?"

"Kenna, do you still think I can't get over you? Don't worry, I'm the kind of person who moves on easily, I won't cling to you," Ambrose said firmly.

"When did you ever cling to me?" Kenna smiled sadly.

Ambrose looked at Kenna's expression, feeling a sharp pain in his heart, but he held it back, not showing any sign of it.

Kenna was already so far away from him.

"I need to use the restroom." Ambrose suddenly stood up.

Kenna pressed her lips together, silently watching him leave.

In the restroom, Ambrose kept his head down, washing his hands repeatedly.

He washed them so many times, he seemed unaware, numbly repeating the same action.

"Keep washing, and your hands will get chapped," Nico turned off the faucet for him.

Ambrose nodded, reaching for a paper towel, which Nico handed to him.

"Thanks," Ambrose said in a low voice.

"Why do you do this to yourself? If you like her so much, why not fight for her?" Nico leaned against the restroom wall, watching Ambrose dry his hands.

Since Nico entered the restroom, Ambrose hadn't looked up once.

Ambrose didn't say anything.

After all these years of friendship, how could they not see through each other?

"Let's go, the ceremony is about to start," Nico said. "We can't miss our friend's happy moment."

Ambrose nodded, silently, but didn't move to leave.

"Come on," Nico urged again.

"Give me a moment," Ambrose said.

Nico frowned.

At that moment, Nico saw tears falling from Ambrose's face.

Nico had never seen Ambrose cry before, who was always strong.

Nico pressed his lips together.

Then he walked out of the restroom to wait for him outside, giving him enough dignity and space.

A few minutes later, Ambrose came out.

His face was calm, showing no trace of sadness, let alone tears.

He acted as if nothing had happened in the restroom.

"Let's go," Ambrose called to Nico and walked towards the banquet hall.

In the banquet hall, Lucius and Allegra were holding their youngest son, along with Emery, thanking the guests for attending the party.

Finally, Allegra excitedly said, "Now, let's welcome one of my best friends, my son's Godmother, to the stage!"

Ambrose stood in the corner of the banquet hall, watching Kenna walk onto the stage.

At first, he didn't pay attention or perhaps didn't dare to look at Kenna.

Now he noticed, even in loose clothing, her pregnancy was very obvious.

He hadn't been gone long, and Kenna and Brooks' baby was already this big.

Was Kenna not afraid of making him angry?

He watched Kenna take the microphone and look out at the audience.

She seemed to be searching for someone.

After a while, Ambrose felt Kenna's gaze fall on him.

But when he looked back, her gaze had already shifted.

Maybe Kenna was just looking for Brooks.

Then she realized Brooks wasn't there.

Kenna spoke into the microphone, "I'm honored to be Allegra's son's Godmother."

"Allegra said if my baby is a girl, she wants to arrange a marriage with her son."

"I really like Allegra's son, he's so cute. But," Kenna continued, "arranging a marriage isn't just up to me, it also involves the baby's father."

Allegra excitedly asked, "Then call the baby's father up here, let's settle the arrangement now!"

Kenna smiled faintly, "The baby's father..."

Kenna hesitated, and Ambrose's throat tightened.

He really wanted to punch Brooks.

He had given the woman he loved most to Brooks, and Brooks wasn't treating Kenna well.

Letting Kenna attend the party alone, letting her stand on the stage alone.

"Allegra, can I have the stage for a moment?" Kenna suddenly asked.

"Of course," Allegra smiled. "The stage is yours today."

"No, no," Allegra interrupted, "the stage is for my son's future wife."

The guests laughed heartily, the atmosphere was lively.

Allegra and Lucius, with their children, stepped off the stage.

The lights in the banquet hall dimmed.

Everyone was a bit surprised when the big screen suddenly lit up.

Everyone thought it was a surprise from Kenna for Allegra's son.

They all looked at the screen.

On the screen, Ambrose's face appeared.

"Wow!" The crowd was noisy.

Ambrose was also surprised by this scene.

What was going on? He didn't remember recording any special message for Allegra's son.

Then the screen started to play a video.

Ambrose's voice was clearly heard.

"Hello, everyone, I'm Ambrose. You must be wondering why I'm here?"

The guests enthusiastically interacted, "Why?"

"For a woman," Ambrose answered.

"Who?"

"Her name is Kenna," Ambrose said, clearly and deliberately.
