Chapter 524 Meticulous Care

Chapter 524 Meticulous Care

Lewis was clearly reluctant.

Hazel had already shoved the fruit into Lewis's hand. "Eat it yourself."

"I..."Lewis was displeased.

He watched Hazel walk over to Glenn.

Glenn, the persistent troublemaker, always ruined his plans.

Back at the Martinez Mansion, what was he thinking when he decided to save him?

Outside in the hallway, Hazel asked, "What's up?"

Glenn usually didn't seek her out unless there was something important.

And it was usually something only she could handle.

"George's condition hasn't shown much improvement," Glenn said bluntly, not beating around the bush.

Hazel pressed her lips together.

She thought Glenn was referring to the Martinez Family's situation, so she was caught off guard.

"It's not that you owe George anything. After all, everything he did was voluntary. We don't need to morally guilt-trip ourselves. I just think saving a life is worth it. If you can help wake George up, I think you should try, out of humanitarianism," Glenn said calmly.

"Okay," Hazel agreed without hesitation.

Because Glenn made a valid point. She did not argue against it.

"Then go keep Lewis company for a while. He's still not very mobile. Help him out if he needs anything," Hazel said.

"Okay," Glenn nodded.

Hazel left, and Glenn returned to the ward.

Lewis looked up eagerly, ready to say something to Hazel, but his smile faded when he saw Glenn. "Where's Hazel?"

"She went to George's ward," Glenn replied directly.

"Glenn, is this how you treat someone who saved your life? You're really good at repaying kindness with ingratitude," Lewis said irritably.

Glenn didn't argue with him, not even bothering to say another word. He simply changed the subject. "Want some water?"

"No."

"An apple?"

"No."

"Need to use the restroom ?"

"No."

After refusing, Lewis paused for a moment.

He seemed to have a physiological reaction.

He pressed his lips together, wanting to say he needed to use the restroom but not wanting to give in to Glenn.

The thought of Glenn sending Hazel to see George annoyed him.

Even though he wouldn't stop Hazel from seeing George out of selfishness. But it still made him uncomfortable.

"Need to use the restroom ?" Glenn asked again, seeing Lewis's expression.

Lewis didn't answer, just sulked.

He didn't want Glenn to help him with anything.

But with his broken ribs, the doctor had forbidden him from moving, so he couldn't refuse outright.

Glenn suddenly approached Lewis, who was taken aback.

What was he going to do next?

Glenn lifted Lewis off the bed.

"What are you doing?" Lewis almost popped his eyes out.

"Taking you to the restroom ."

"The doctor said I can't move and should use the bedpan." Lewis was scared of Glenn.

How strong were his arms?

He was a grown man, and Glenn, who was over forty, lifted him up just like that?

"Oh," Glenn carefully placed Lewis back on the bed.

Lewis was still shaken.

He didn't dare move himself; the pain was excruciating, but Glenn just picked him up like it was nothing.

If his bones weren't healed, he'd fight Glenn.

At that moment, Glenn found the bedpan in the ward and placed it under him.

Lewis was about to tell Glenn to leave.

But Glenn was already close, helping him take off his hospital pants.

"What are you doing?" Lewis grabbed his pants, almost losing his dignity.

"You need to use the restroom, right?" Glenn asked, genuinely puzzled by Lewis's reaction.

It seemed perfectly natural to him, making Lewis question if he was the one with the problem.

'Damn it! Who just pulls down someone else's pants like that? Glenn must be a pervert!' Lewis cursed in his head.

"I'll do it myself!" Lewis insisted.

"Can you?"

"I'm not disabled!" Lewis snapped.

"Close enough," Glenn replied casually. "Otherwise, you wouldn't be using the bedpan."

Lewis glared at Glenn, increasingly feeling he must have been out of his mind to save Glenn back then.

"Get out!" Lewis said angrily.

Glenn didn't argue, just turned around. "Go ahead, I won't look."

"Nothing to see anyway," Glenn added.

Lewis felt Glenn's words were a bit sarcastic.

Lewis didn't argue further, needing to relieve himself. He pulled down his pants and started.

The ward was quiet, only the sound of Lewis peeing.

At first, it was nothing. But Lewis had been holding it in for too long. He was always a bit embarrassed to say he needed the bathroom when Hazel was around, so he held it until he couldn't anymore.

Glenn's cough sounded strange. It had a hint of mockery, as if he was trying to suppress it. So he made that odd sound, which annoyed Lewis. But since he was peeing, he didn't argue with Glenn.

Finally, he finished. Glenn turned around, and Lewis hadn't pulled up his pants yet.

"What are you doing?" Lewis was furious, his face turning red.

Glenn deliberately glanced over.

"Glenn!" Lewis shouted.

Glenn turned away, but not before giving a meaningful smile. Lewis had to control himself not to curse out loud!

In another ward, Hazel was with Clifford. Talking to him, helping him clean up, feeding him porridge, pouring water, taking care of him in every way.

Clifford was touched. He often thought of Hazel's mother. It was his biggest regret in life. His only weakness. So when Glenn suggested letting Hazel's son Leo take over the Schmidt Family business, he was tempted. Technically, Leo wasn't a direct heir.

"Hazel," Clifford called her. "Do you know about Glenn and Lewis?"

Hazel didn't hide it. She nodded. "I just found out, too."

"Lewis and you..."

"It's fate playing tricks on us," Hazel said helplessly. "We each have our own paths now."

"Paths?" Clifford's face darkened. The thought of his most valued grandson dropping such a bombshell on him was hard to accept.

Hazel could see Clifford's thoughts. She smiled. "Grandpa, I think you should be more open-minded about Glenn."

"I can't accept it," Clifford said sternly. "I never thought something like this would happen to me."

"But it has."

"Can't it be stopped?"

"I advise against it," Hazel said softly, afraid of upsetting her grandfather. "Glenn and Lewis have a strong bond. And from what I've heard, I don't think Glenn will ever be what you consider 'normal.'"

Clifford was fuming. For the first time, he felt powerless.

"It's just about continuing the family line. The Schmidt Family has plenty of people. We don't need Glenn for that. Besides, he's supporting the family in his own way," Hazel said.
