Chapter 523 Marry Me

Chapter 523 Marry Me

Lewis was stunned by his own words the moment they left his mouth.

He'd been dreaming of marrying Hazel for ages, but never had the guts to say it. He knew he wasn't that important to Hazel yet, not enough for her to trust him with her life. He was the classic case of having the heart but lacking the courage.

At this moment, he didn't even know how he managed to say it.

Before Hazel could respond, he started to panic, "I-I was joking. I'm not trying to force you to marry me just because I saved Glenn."

"Okay." Hazel agreed suddenly, and Lewis was floored.

He couldn't believe his luck.

Immediately, he said seriously, "Hazel, I don't want to pressure you. I admit I've dreamed of marrying you and having a happy family, but I don't want to force you or make you feel any obligation."

"I'm not agreeing to marry you just because you saved Glenn. Actually, from the moment we entered the Martinez Mansion together, I had already made up my mind. If we both came out safely, we would get married." Hazel said with a smile.

"Really?" Lewis couldn't believe it.

Their relationship had been good, but he always felt there was a barrier with Hazel.

Could she really accept him so quickly?

"Yes, really. I'm not being impulsive; I've thought it through." Hazel said, a bit exasperated.

It was clear that he wanted to get married, but now he felt like she was putting him on the spot.

"Then tell me, what are my good qualities?" Lewis said firmly.

Was he being cheeky after getting what he wanted?

In fact, Hazel knew very well that Lewis was just afraid she would regret it or feel forced.

He was afraid she didn't truly love him but was marrying him out of obligation.

Such a man who treated her so well, what reason did she have to reject him?

She said, very seriously, "You have many good qualities, so many that I might not be able to count them all. For example, you're handsome, sunny, considerate, gentle, understanding, and you take care of me in every possible way. But what truly makes me want to spend my life with you isn't how excellent you are, but that I like you."

Lewis's eyes turned red.

Even when he was shot, even when his ribs were broken and he was in excruciating pain, he didn't feel like crying.

But when Hazel said she liked him, he couldn't help but burst into tears.

He never dared to hope that the person he liked would like him back.

He always felt that true love was far away from him.

He had struggled with his sexual orientation and had never found true love, knowing he would eventually conform to "normalcy." Therefore, he had often indulged in relationships rather than seeking true love.

At this moment, it felt like he had the whole world.

He said, with tearful eyes, "Hazel, I will never let you down for the rest of my life."

"I won't either," Hazel told him firmly, and Lewis reached out his hand.

Hazel placed her hand in Lewis's palm.

Their fingers intertwined, giving each other the warmest protection.

Outside the ward, Glenn silently watched their interaction, a flicker of emotion in his eyes, but mostly calm, giving his blessing calmly.

He slowly walked towards the intensive care unit.

George had been brought here after being resuscitated.

His life signs were very weak.

The doctors said he might survive, or he might never wake up again.

Everything depended on the patient's own fate; medicine could no longer determine his life or death.

Glenn just watched silently.

There were unspeakable emotions, perhaps some regret.

From a long time ago, Glenn had admired George, truly believing George was talented and hoping to work with him. He even considered having George assist in the future of the Schmidt Family.

But now George lay in the intensive care unit, his fate uncertain.

Glenn sighed.

No matter what George's final outcome would be, there were things he had to do for him.

For example: Bringing Leo to Stonebridge to be with him. Perhaps for the last journey.

Lewis stayed in the hospital for a week.

Apart from his ribs, there were no major issues, and his heart was not damaged. The doctors said it was a blessing in disguise.

Hazel stayed with him every day, rarely leaving his side.

Glenn also frequently visited the hospital, often just standing in the ward without disturbing Lewis and Hazel.

More often, he would go to see George, even if he could only stand outside.

He suddenly felt that he and George might be the same kind of people.

Leo had also been brought to Stonebridge.

He often came to the hospital and stayed by George's side.

Even though Leo was only ten years old, his thoughts were much more mature than his peers.

Seeing George in such a state, he didn't cry or make a fuss. Even though his eyes were always red, he just watched quietly, hoping for a miracle.

The doctors said that if George didn't wake up soon, the chances of him waking up would become smaller and smaller.

The doctors suggested that family members talk to him, trying to awaken his consciousness and make him truly wake up.

So Leo would often go in and talk to George.

He wasn't very good with words, and often didn't know what to say.

His eyes just kept getting redder and redder.

Glenn would also go in and talk to George. Most of what he said was serious matters.

For example, he had handed over the evidence George had obtained to the judicial authorities and, through connections, ensured that the Martinez Family would be dealt with fairly and justly. Now, several key figures of the Martinez Family were detained on suspicion of crimes and were awaiting trial.

Due to public pressure, the authorities would soon judge the Martinez Family's case. It was only a matter of time before the Martinez Family's power was completely dismantled.

The Martinez Family would soon exit the stage of history.

The Martinez Family would no longer pose a threat to anyone.

As for Ariana, although George had saved her from the fire, her condition was the same as George's, still in a coma.

The doctors said the longer she stayed unconscious, the less likely she would wake up. Eventually, she might become a vegetable or pass away.

After leaving George's intensive care unit, Glenn walked towards Lewis's ward.

Inside the room, Hazel was feeding Lewis an apple.

Lewis was staring at Hazel without blinking, his face full of blissful smiles.

Glenn's lips curled up slightly.

It was a blessing.

He walked into the ward.

Both of them turned to look at him.

"Did Leo go home?" Hazel asked casually.

Leo had been coming to the hospital frequently, and she knew who he was here for.

"Yeah, I sent him home. Visiting hours are limited, and there's not much for him to do at the hospital," Glenn said, then added, "Besides, I didn't want him to feel like a third wheel."

Hazel blushed a little.

Lewis, however, laughed even more brightly, "We're all family. There's no need to talk about being a third wheel; it's too formal."

Glenn said helplessly, "Yes, you are a family. Now, can I borrow Hazel for a while?"
