Chapter 522 George is Something

Chapter 522 George is Something

Glenn noticed right away, his body tensing up a bit, and his eyes locked on Lewis.

Hazel picked up on Glenn's reaction and realized Lewis was starting to wake up.

She quickly got up and moved closer to Lewis, whispering softly in his ear, "Lewis, you awake?"

Lewis felt like his head was spinning.

He struggled to open his eyes, his vision still blurry. It took a while for him to focus and recognize Hazel.

He tried to move but felt incredibly weak, wanting to get up.

As soon as he made the attempt.

"Ouch." Lewis let out a painful sound.

"Don't move!" Glenn suddenly spoke, his voice filled with reproach.

Lewis looked at Glenn, and Hazel glanced back at him, unable to help but say, "Lewis just woke up, and he's seriously hurt. Don't yell at him."

Glenn pressed his lips together and chose to remain silent.

Lewis seemed to recall what had happened.

"I'm not dead?" Lewis's voice was hoarse.

"Don't say stuff like that." Hazel said gently, "You're gonna live a long, long time."

Lewis couldn't help but smile.

The emotion in his eyes for Hazel was unmistakable.

Glenn suddenly stood up.

Lewis glanced at his back but kept his eyes on Hazel.

"How are you feeling now?" Hazel asked with concern.

"Just really weak, my whole body feels soft, and my back hurts a bit, but otherwise, I'm okay," Lewis said uncomfortably.

"The bullet hit your ribs, you broke three ribs, of course, it hurts. The doctor said you need to stay in bed for a while."

"I broke three ribs?" Lewis was alarmed, "I won't be disabled, will I?"

"Now you're scared? Weren't you brave when you shielded Glenn from the bullet?" Hazel teased.

"At that moment, things were so urgent, I didn't think about it." Lewis said, "Looking back now, it is a bit scary."

"But, really, thank you." Hazel suddenly thanked him, very sincerely.

"What?" Lewis looked at her.

"If Glenn had been shot dead..." Hazel couldn't bear to imagine that outcome. "Anyway, thank you for saving Glenn."

"Saving your family, it's what I should do." Lewis smiled.

Hazel smiled too.

There was no need for formalities among the family.

"So, do you want to do anything now? The doctor said to observe you first after you wake up, no rush to feed you, see how your body is doing, and after midnight, you can eat." Hazel said directly.

"I'm not hungry, and I don't know what to do, just lying here."

"Do you want to look at your phone for a bit? I can hold it for you." Hazel gestured.

The doctor had also told them not to move Lewis, saying his ribs had just been set, and any movement could be troublesome.

"You'll get tired." Lewis smiled and refused, "No, just having you here is enough."

Hazel didn't insist, "Then I'll keep you company and chat."

"Okay."

"What do you want to talk about?" Lewis asked.

"Whatever you want to talk about, I'll talk with you." Hazel smiled slightly.

Her gentleness made Lewis feel like his heart was melting.

He suddenly felt that taking that bullet was totally worth it!

"Did George make it out with you? Is he okay?" Lewis asked.

Hazel paused for a moment.

"You didn't save him?" Lewis was surprised. Logically, Hazel and George should have left the Martinez Mansion long ago, but he was delayed by Glenn's situation.

"I'm sorry, I lied to you," Hazel apologized sincerely.

"When you signaled me, you hadn't saved George?" Lewis asked.

"I didn't want you to get hurt," Hazel admitted.

Lewis was a bit angry. "I'm fine now, aren't I?"

Hazel quickly comforted him, "I knew if I couldn't save George, I would ensure my own safety and give up. I didn't want you to take risks because of it."

"Don't do that again!" Lewis said sternly. "This time, since you're safe, I won't hold it against you."

Hazel promised, "It won't happen again."

Lewis couldn't really stay mad at Hazel; he loved her too much. "So, what happened to George?"

He wasn't really concerned about George's fate. Since they went to save him, he wanted to know the outcome.

"I don't know."

"What?" Lewis raised an eyebrow.

"I did save George, but he took off his fire suit to give it to Bianca, and then he delayed a bit to save Ariana. I came out with the bodyguards first. Just now, when you were being treated, I saw George and Ariana being brought into the hospital. I don't know his current condition, I didn't check."

Lewis pressed his lips together, not knowing what to say.

"To me, George is just a passerby," Hazel said calmly and confidently. "After this, we're completely done. No matter if he lives or dies, I've let go."

"Okay," Lewis nodded. He believed Hazel had truly let go of George. And he believed he could give Hazel a better future.

"After this, the Martinez Family's glory should come to an end," Hazel said, also to keep Lewis from getting bored lying there. "Glenn got the documents, and their contents can completely convict the Martinez Family of their heinous crimes. Although the process was tough, the result is good."

"The Martinez Family did a lot of bad things?" Lewis asked.

"Abusing power, colluding with the underworld, collecting protection fees, and several murders, all shady stuff," Hazel said. "Anyway, the Martinez Family is finished this time."

"George is really something," Lewis suddenly sighed.

Hazel frowned.

"Think about it, George married Ariana not long ago, and he already knew so much about the Martinez Family's secrets and got the evidence of their crimes. The Martinez Family members are not simple people," Lewis said thoughtfully. "It just shows that George is even more remarkable. I really admire him. Back then, George also made our Bennett family look at him in a new light with his own efforts."

"Really?" Hazel smiled coldly.

"He's indeed admirable, so if he really dies..." Lewis saw her lack of reaction. He sighed lightly, "It's a pity."

"Take care of yourself," Hazel smiled, then said seriously. "You broke three ribs, and you're still worried about others. Your main task now is to recover well."

"Then, once I recover, can I marry you?" Lewis blurted out.
