Chapter 136 – Messed Up

Cassidy’s head lifted up when she felt a tingling sensation resonating through her leg. She tried to open her eyes to see who was around but was having a hard time keeping her eyes open. Her heart beat frantically when she heard the booming voice echo throughout the room.

Hannah had done a number on her, while Mark had done his fair share of messing with her mind. She was having a hard time trying to figure out what was reality or an illusion and was beginning to wonder if she had been drugged.

Cassidy was confused when she recognized Adrian as the man who was trying to buy her grandfather’s house. She didn’t understand why he was there with a pack of wolves following closely behind him.

Her eyes widened as she saw a tall, muscular man move into the dim light. Her body tingled, and her stomach fluttered upon seeing him, but she couldn’t remember if she had seen him before. Cassidy shook her head as she tried to get her thoughts straight. Why would her body be drawn to someone she had never met before?

Jacob’s eyes were wild, and his rage fueled him as he hit, punched, and tossed wolves aside that were blocking him from getting to his mate. The smell of blood traveled through the air, and his chest rumbled with the familiar scent of Cassidy swirling around him.

“Adrian, where is she?” Jacob demanded.

Adrian, with his hand still wrapped around Hannah’s neck, pushed her toward Jacob. “Why don’t you ask her?”

Jacob’s eyes shifted between Adrian and Hannah. He took a step forward toward the both of them, taking a whiff from both of them. Jacob’s eyes narrowed at Hannah as his growling became more intense.

Hannah shivered in fear, afraid of what Jacob might do to her. “Jacob, please, I love you. I only did this so that we could be together. She can’t be there for you like I can,” she pleaded.

Jacob wasn’t listening to any of it. He warned her time and time again, but she refused to listen. Hannah only cared about herself and refused to listen to reason. This was how it was always going to be. Hannah was obsessed and wasn’t going to give up on breaking him and Cassidy apart. He needed to protect his mate.

Jacob moved closer to Hannah, not saying a word. She got down on her knees, crying and begging for him to pick her and not his mate. He sucked in a breath, and in one fell swoop, he reached out, twisted her head, causing her neck to break and then fall to the floor.

Cassidy let out a blood-curdling scream as she watched the man kill someone right in front of her. She curled herself into a ball, hoping he wouldn’t see her and do the same thing to her. She didn’t understand why any of this was happening or why she was there in the first place. All she wanted to do was go home.

Adrian stared down at the lifeless body, “Damn, you spoiled my fun,” he admitted as he adjusted his clothes and sighed, “It doesn’t matter; your time is up. I’m taking what is rightfully mine one way or another.”

Jacob clenched his fists and puffed up his chest as he snarled, “Over my dead body.”

Adrian chuckled.

“That can be arranged. But what about your pack? With you gone, who will protect your defenseless pack from being attacked?”

“What are you talking about?” Jacob questioned.

Adrian gave him a knowing smile. “You should get back to your pack before something really bad happens to them, and you weren’t there to protect them.”

Jacob’s jaw tightened as his eyes shifted from Adrian to the curled-up tiny woman who was cowering in the corner. His heart ached to see her like this, and he wanted to cross the room to assure her that everything was going to be okay. But he would be lying to her and to himself, because at the moment he didn’t know if everything was going to be okay.

Adrian crossed the room without fear that Jacob was going to stop him from taking what was rightfully his. He yanked Cassidy up by the arm, who let out a whimper from the pain. “Don’t worry, I’ll take good care of your mate while she’s under my supervision,” he laughed out a vengeful laugh. “By the way, there’s the other one who abducted your mate from the office and did quite a job on her while she was with him,” Adrian admitted before ducking out of the building and making his getaway.

Jacob didn’t know how he was going to be able to calm himself to think clearly. There was one thing that both he and his wolf had on their mind as he turned his focus on the male who was cowering himself in the corner, trying to hide himself from being seen.

Jacob sucked in his scent and growled menacingly, realizing who had taken his mate. “Mr. Gallo, it’s time that you and I get better acquainted with each other,” he snarled as he rushed over to the scared man and yanked him to his feet.

Mark looked over at the limp body of the woman he had been planning all this with. He turned toward Jacob with fear written all over his face of what was going to happen to him. “I only did what she told me to do. Please, don’t kill me. I didn’t do anything,” Marked yelped as he was dragged away by the man he should fear the most.
