I had just had a wonderful time at sea with Vincent and we brought back mermaids. I wonder what else because I sensed more. I was hit by a fleeting wave of sadness as we dressed and ported back.
Vincent kisses my cheek, “I feel better but the pull is still there, Eva.”
Morgan curls her tail around her, “Anything different happen?”
“Mermaids!”
Agnes gasps, “They were extinct!”
Morgan purrs almost knowingly, “Yes, they and sirens were hunted to extinction during the Inquisition because of their polyamorous harems and their ability to compel humans.”
Were they other beings I sensed Sirens? Did we bring back those once extinct?
Vincent shrugs, “Well, they aren't now. A whole pod swam by!”
Morgan says, “Eva, pick me up.” I nod and hold her in my arms, “I feel a charge,” her fur stands up, “Well, it seems like when you boys create a child that child brings back what was lost.”
Agnes gasps, “The Balance!”
Morgan nods, “Yes, it's being restored.”
“Are the dates still okay to do?”
Morgan purrs, “Yes, you won't bring back anything evil. So stop thinking about it!”
Agnes smiles, “You are light. You will only shine brighter.”
Sam takes my hand, “Come on, Snow White.”
Vincent comes over to me, “I love you, Eva. Have fun. Feed our son if he gets hungry,” he says as he kisses my stomach and then me. He's invested in our child, in our future. Our son? Does he know?
Sam chuckles, “Don't think too hard, wifey.”
“Ass!”
Vincent kisses my cheek, “Just a feeling is all. Now go!”
“I love you, Vin.”
Vincent smiles as he kisses my nose, “And I am thankful every moment for that.”
Sam raises his eyebrow, “Vin, you almost sound like a true romantic.”
Vincent snarls, “Fuckoff!”
Sam chuckles, “Short-lived.”
“Leave him be!”
Sam cocks his head at me, “Make me!”
“Oh, it's on! You're mine, Mountain Man!” He shifts and runs. I shift and follow. We end up in the woods. He stops and howls before shifting back. I follow suit but look up at the sky.
“Wow!” I gasp as I look at the mystic topaz sky above accentuating the full moon in all of her glory.
Sam’s cheeks blush and it just makes him so boyishly attractive, “Yeah, I can shift colors.”
“It's like the Aurora Borealis!”
Sam nods, “Because it basically is. I used the same principle anyway.”
“Is this new or could you do it a bit before?”
He runs his hand through his hair, “I always had a way of seeing art differently. Why my design company is successful. Also, adds to why the outdoor apparel line is doing so well too.”
“It's fine that you aren't a normal wolf. Your differences are what makes you my mate.” I don't care that for some reason he is different from his family. All I care about is that he's mine and I am his.
Sam shrugs, “Could be.”
“If we never learn the how or why, know that it doesn't matter to me,” I cup his face in my right hand, “You are who I fell for. You are not just my mate, but my husband and my equal.”
Sam holds me close as he gazes into my eyes, “You are my Luna. You are the moon that illuminates my night but you're also the sun that brightens my day. Pups or no pups, I love you.”
His hands rest on my hips. I put mine behind his neck as I lifted up onto my tiptoes, “I love you too.” We kiss and the sky just dances with color. He picks me up and I wrap my legs around him. He presses my back against a tree.
Sam struggles to say, “Eva.”
“I know.”
He rests his forehead on mine, “I feel them.”
“What?”
He puts his hand on my stomach. A light glows from within and you can see small dots of color move around as they try to dance in time with the lights overhead.
Sam smiles, “Babies, Eva.”
“I can't.”
Sam pulls me closer, “You can. You can do anything! I love you.”
“I love you too.”
He ran his fingers through my hair, “Together. We will do this together.”
“Together.”
He kissed me deeply as our hands started to remove our clothes. I need to feel him. I need to feel all of him!
