CHAPTER EIGHTY-NINE
AURORA'S P.O.V
Alpha Kieran led me to a cozy room with a soft looking, queen sized bed, the room was warm and inviting. I was already feeling sleepy as I basked in the room's warmth. He smiled, just eyes crinkling at the corners as he gestured.
"This is your room. I hope you'll be comfortable here."
I smiled back at him, trying to seem polite and not show my discomfort at him putting Lucian outside the pack house.
"Thank you. It's lovely, just perfect for me."
He nodded, lingering, his eyes scanning the room as if searching for something. He discreetly glanced at me, shuffling his feet.
"So Aurora..."
I suppressed an exhausted sigh, trying to be patient but I really just wanted to lie down on that soft bed in front of me.
"Yes. Alpha Kieran?"
He cleared his throat, more like a cough.
"I wanted to...I wanted to speak with you. You know....know how you've been doing. If you don't mind."
I hesitated, unsure of how to respond.
"Um...Alpha Kieran...if that's what you want... I don't mind but can we do that tomorrow? I'm really...I'm tired and I would just to sleep. If you don't mind."
He nodded, swallowing softly.
"I understand, I just want to get to know you better."
I blinked at him.
"Know me better? But...I think you're getting to know me well...just fine. Don't you?"
He shook his head, chukling lightly.
"I suppose we are. But I mean, I want to know more about you. What you like, what you don't like..."
I smiled, putting a bit of firmness in my voice but at the same time not sounding impolite.
"I appreciate the offer, Alpha Kieran, but I'm really tired. Can we talk more in the morning?"
He nodded, his expression one of understanding while taking a few steps back.
"Of course. Get some rest. We'll talk more tomorrow."
"Goodnight."
I smiled, relieved, and closed the door behind him. I leaned against it, letting out a sigh. I briefly explored the room and saw that there were avfew nightgowns in the wardrobe, thankfully. I was feeling stuffy in my clothes. I took a quick shower and changed into a nightgown and climbed into bed, feeling exhausted. I drifted off to sleep, my mind still racing with thoughts of Lucian and our plans for Desmond.
But my sleep was short-lived.
I found myself in a dream, standing in a beautiful garden surrounded by flowers and trees. A man stood in front of me, his face hidden in the shadows.
"Where am I?" I whispered gently, trying to see the face of who was in frint of me.
He reached out and took my hand, and I felt a sense of peace wash over me. Suddenly, I heard the cheerful sound of giggling and saw two children, a boy and a girl running towards us with bright smiles on their faces.
The man's face was still hidden, but I felt a sense of love and happiness emanating from him. Somewhere deep within me, I knew it was Lucian, even though I couldn't see his face. But as I looked at the children, I felt a pang of sadness. Something was wrong, and I didn't know what it was. Suddenly, the dream shifted, and I was back in the pack house, surrounded people. But they were all looking at me with concern, their faces etched with worry.
And then I heard an abrupt knock.
I woke up with a start, my heart racing. I looked around, trying to get my bearings. The knock came again, and I realized it was real. Someone was at the window but who could it be? I got out of bed and went to the window, pulling back the curtains.
"Lucian?" I called out in a whisper.
"Hey." He answered back, his voice calm and soft.
His face was pressed against the glass, his eyes shining in the dark. I couldn't help but smile as I rushed to open the window, letting him in.
He quickly climbed inside, letting his eyes scan the room. Then he turned to face me, his eyes dark and curious as stared at me like a predator watching its prey. I became self conscious and realized that I was only dressed in a thing, transparent nightgown that left nothing to the imagination. My face felt hot and I coughed slightly, trying to run to the bed with the intention of covering myself. But he pulled me back with a strong hold of my hand.
"Where are you running to?" he whispered back, his voice low and husky.
I felt a shiver run down my spine as he moved closer to me, his heat surrounded me like a warm blanket.
"What are you doing here?" I asked, trying to sound calm even though my legs were feeling like jelly and my heart was beating like crazy.
His eyes locked onto mine.
"I had a bad dream," he said, his voice low. "I needed to see you."
I felt my heart melt, and I reached out to touch his face. "I'm here. I had a dream too, only, mine was nice." I said, my voice barely above a whisper.
His eyes closed, and he leaned into my touch. "I know," he said, his voice soft. "At least one of us had a good sleep.", he sighed, "So...what about him? What did he say? Did he try to speak with you more? Did he act chummy with you or something like that?"
I shrugged.
"More like something like that. He said he wanted to get to know me better." I felt him go stiff but I continued, my hand still caressing his face. "What I liked and didn't like. He wanted to know them."
He hissed under his breath, "That bastard. I knew it. This was his plan all along. To get you all to himself without any interruption from me. I'm going to kill him." He growled.
"No you won't."
I pulled back and walked to the bed. Once I was under the covers, I let out a relieved sigh. No longer feeling like I was about to be devoured.
"We need him and you know that."
He shrugged, tilting his head to the side as he moved closer, my heart started beating fast again.
"I could kill him after all this is over and I finally cl...forget it."
I blinked, watching him curiosly, he had been about to say something just now.
"Tell me."
He pressed his lips together, glanced at me then shook his head and looked away.
"Its nothing."
"I know you were about to say s. Why won't you tell me?"
He scratched his hair.
"Because its nothing. You'll find out later, just not now."
"Fine then." I shrugged.
We were quiet for a while, then he yawned, I stared at his face and saw that he had dark circles under his eyes. He must be really tired, but what can I do to help? Ah! And idea struck me.
"Lucian."
"Hmm" he looked at me.
I pat the space beside me on the bed and smiled.
"How about you sleep with me today?"
