CHAPTER TWENTY
AURORA'S P.O.V
"Apparently, I've been fired."
Lucian tilted his head, frowning.
"Why? Where you given any reasons?"
I shook my head, frowning. Why would she fire me? I don't think I've done anything wrong to make her fire me. I have to speak to her tomorrow.
"She didn't say but I'll go speak to her tomorrow. Maybe I can change her mind. I hope."
That job was the only thing keeping me afloat, if I lost it, I might as well have lost my source of living.
"Its alright, I'm sure you won't need the job again anyway. This was probably for the best."
I glared at him, a growl ripping from my mouth. Such a jerk!
"Thanks." I bit out with sarcasm. "Now can you show me to where I'm staying now?"
He smirked and shrugged.
"No hard feelings, but since you're going to be my Luna, it checks out. I'll show you to your room now, follow me."
" I'm not going to be your anything!" I practically yelled, he blinked at me slowly. I took a deep breath and brought out my phone." Right after I call Talia to assure her I'm still alive." I muttered as I scrolled down my phone.
I walked away from him, didn't want him standing there while I spoke with Talia, even though he could hear me with his wolf senses. The phone rang and she picked instantly.
"What! You were accused of treason and almost sent to jail? By the alpha? And Lucian already announced you are his mate? How did I miss all these!!"
I had to pull the phone away from my ear as Talia shrieked very loudly
"I'm not done. Clara fired me."
"She did?"
"Yeah."
"Why?"
"That's what I intend to find out tomorrow."
"Okay, I hope she has a valid reason because she has no reason to fire you. You have worked so hard for that bar, she can't just let you go like that." Her voice came out shrill with indignation.
I smiled softly, "Thank you Lia, I'll see you tomorrow?"
"Yeah, anytime. I'll be here. Love you "
I laughed.
"Love you too. Bye."
I sighed as I looked at my new room. It was moderately spacious and had a fluffy queen-sized bed with a great outdoor view.
"I can't say this is bad. I mean, I have a fluffy, comfy bed, even if the alpha wants me dead."
I smiled cynically to myself. Just beside my room was Lucian's room, according to him, staying close to me was an effective way to watch me and at the same time keep me safe from his dad.
"Oh well, can't kill myself over that. Time to sleep."
I laid back on the bed and in no time I was fast asleep in lala land.
As soon as I stepped into the bar, I felt the change in the air. Everyone suddenly stopped what they were doing as they stared at me. It was spooky and weird, I mean, even as an omega I never got this much attention.
"What's up with everyone?" I couldn't help muttering under my breath.
Shrugging the negative energy I was feeling, I walked fast into Clara's office.
"Hey Clara." I greeted softly, my voice hopefully.
She had her head lowered as she typed on her laptop but as soon as she heard my voice, she stilled
"Hello Aurora."
"Listen." I walked a few steps closer. "I don't know what I did that made you fire me, but can you give me a second chance please or...or at least a reason why you are letting me go."
She clicked her tongue and relaxed in her seat, her face thoughtful.
"Look, its not like you did anything wrong or that you haven't been doing your job well..." She bit her lower lips, her eyes away from me. "..its nothing personal, I just felt you had to go."
I shook my head,
"No, you have to tell me the exact reason. What you just said doesn't make any sense. I've been faithful, loyal and hardworking. You know that this is the only thing I do to survive, so please don't take it easy from me. I'm begging you."
"I just can't okay!"
She screamed, then she blinked and spoke in a soft but firm tone. "It's bad enough that you are an Omega but then it turns out you are the future alpha's mate? That tips the whole scale."
"What do you mean?"
I asked totally confused, how did she find out.
"You are the future luna." She said in an obvious tone. "Do you think I can let the future Luna of the pack work for me, in a bar? Come on, I still want to live thank you."
"So..." I chuckled while biting back tears. "It's all about the mate thing right? You haven't even asked me if I'm going to accept it."
She wagged a long finger at me,
"Yes dear, you are going to accept it because you have no choice. I'm sorry, it's in your dna. You are an omega and as such, you can't reject an alpha unless he rejects you. Now we know thats not going to happen because he just announced you to the whole pack which means he has every intention of keeping you."
"But..."
"No!" She shook her head as she stood up, a firm gaze in her eyes. "We know this is not going anywhere. I'm begging you, have some respect as the future luna and just...just leave okay. Go be a good Luna."
She looked like she had no intention of listening to me so I could only nod and walk out of the office in dejection.
I had no idea how I left the bar, I just walked until I was stopped by three ladies.
"Look, that's the Omega who is going to become our Luna." A redhead came to stand in front of me as she pushed me back.
"Please can you leave me alone." I muttered.
"Like hell we will, you have no right to talk to us that way." A thin blond seconded as she yanked my hair making me wince.
"Let go of me." I grunted out.
The last brunette laughed as she held my face in her hand, her artificial nails digging into my cheeks.
"And if we don't?"
