CHAPTER NINETEEN
LUCIAN'S P.O.V
Chaos erupted as all the elders stared between Aurora and I. She too was panicking as she looked around, her breathing coming out in quick pants.
"What are you doing?" She frantically hissed at me.
I smirked at her then raised my voice even higher.
"You heard me right. She is my damn mate!"
"An Omega as an alpha's mate? A Luna? Impossible!"
"This has never happened before"
"You can't be so sure."
Protests from the elders rang out in the hall, I watched as they spoke over each other with an impassives gaze.
"What have you done!" Kieran growled as he came to stand in front of me.
"What I should have done a long time ago " I answered him.
His nostrils flared, "Do you know you just put her in danger? Is this how you want to help her?".
A deep growled erupted from my chest as I moved closer to him.
"If there is any thing I did wrong, its that I didn't reveal who she was a long time ago. But now that I've done it, I can openly and freely protect her. Because she is my mate, you knew that and still had the audacity to ask that she follows you to your pack. Isn't that being a coward? Where is your honor as an alpha?"
I taunted him, his eyes became narrowed as they stared at me, flecks of black could be seen floating around the silver of his eyes.
Amidst the chaos, dad stormed over to me, his eyes blazing with anger as he came in my face.
"I asked you if she was your mate, why didn't you tell me then."
I stared him down, "Because you just crossed the line and I'm not letting you get away with it, dad."
"I don't accept her as your mate, never.." He growled.
"Well, fine by me, I wasn't even putting a thought to the mate bond."
Aurora mumbled while looking away, I turned to face her, my lips grim.
"Aurora."
This wasn't a joking matter. My growling, alpha voice made her eyes widen, she ducked her head and muttered.
"Sorry."
I grunted and faced dad again.
"Like I said, you crossed the line, you pushed me to this. I'm just letting the pack know that she is my mate. The one the moon goddess chose for me. And not you nor anyone is going to make me reject her. Got it dad?"
The sides of his lips trembled as he watched me, I could see how his eyes shook, suddenly I caught a glimpse of fear, pure fear that rivaled any that I've ever seen.
"We will finish this later."
He suddenly spun away and stormed out.
"The criminal is free on one condition..." he turned to face me, "...she is watched at all times."
"Don't worry, I will take on that job gladly." I smirked at him, he turned away and stormed out of the pack hall.
I turned and faced the elders.
"You all have seen and heard, so let it be known that I Lucian Vaughn, future alpha of Bloodfang Pack, have found my mate in Aurora Steel."
My eyes stayed on each of them waiting for any disapproval. When there was none, I nodded and turned away while muttereimg under my breath.
"I just have to find a way to make her accept me."
The pack elders glanced at each other with uneasy looks and then began to leave one after the other. I bent down and helped Aurora to her feet.
"Please, do not hate me! I have no idea why this happened, luckily I was informed by Griffin. I'm really sorry."
I blurted out in panic as I faced her crossed gaze. After a few seconds, she sighed and shook her head, as if in defeat.
"I don't even have the strength to be angry at you. Why on earth..." She took a deep breath, I flinched as she continued in a soft voice. "...would you announce that I'm your mate in a situation as serious as this? Especially when you knew I didn't want be your mate!?"
"I felt like it was the best time, given the situation. At least it worked right?"
She blinked at me, then shrugged.
"Thanks for the save. Its not a new thing that your dad wants me gone. Are you sure you don't know why?"
I shook my head with all sincerity.
"I swear I have no idea."
"Aurora."
"Alpha Kieran."
She replied softly as he neared her, a sombre look on his face, he glared at me as he passed me.
"I'm sorry I couldn't do much to help you, next time I'll be in time."
She blinked, her eyes darting to me and back to him, a nervous chuckle escaped her.
"Oh no, its alright. I don't need to go bother about me."
His eyebrows furrowed deeper as he moved a step closer, I almost moved to stop him but Griffin held me back.
"I don't mind bothering about you, so please allow me."
She looked totally confused as she nodded slowly.
"Um..yeah? I guess I can." She scratched her head.
A smile crept onto his face.
"Thank you, see you later."
He waved then left. I watched his back with a feeling of annoyance.
"That guy is like a leech I can't get rid of." I grumbled.
"More like a bug that's not easy to get rid of."
Griffin echoed beside me. I nodded in agreement.
"Stop that." Aurora snapped tiredly as she rubbed her eyes.
"I won't stand here and watch you insult Alpha Kieran."
I frowned, jealousy suddenly sprouted in my chest.
"Why shouldn't I insult him, he won't mind his own damn business."
"He's my friend, he just cares about me."
I bit my lips hard. But you won't let me care for you or even be your friend.
"Alright, how do we do this watching thing?"
"Its easy, you'll be staying at the pack house from now on."
She frowned and opened her lips to protest, but then she got a notification from her phone. She pulled it out and frowned as she read it, then with a forlorn sigh, she put the phone back in her pocket, her lips in a thin line.
"What is it?"
Her eyes flickered to mine.
"Apparently, I've been fired."
