Chapter 128 128
CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY-EIGHT
AURORA'S P.O.V
I stared at Kieran, shocked to see him here but at the same time glad to see him. Its been quite a long time, I walked slowly to him but stopped a few inches away from him.
"What are you doing here?" I asked, then my eyes went up in alarm.
"Kieran?" I looked back at Lucian like he was crazy. "Really? Kieran is going to be my bodyguard?" I was totally flabbergasted.
Kieran cleared his throat, stepping forward, get was dressed in a pair of black jeans, black shirt, white leather jacket with white cuffs and a pair of black sneakers. Just his normal outfit, only thing different was the white jacket.
"Hi, nice to see you too. And no, I'm not your bodyguard, though I wouldn't have minded."
I blinked, tilting my head.
"You're not?"
He shook his head, smiling.
"No."
I looked at Lucian, even more confused.
He smiled.
"I know, I did tell you I had someone in mind but don't worry, its not Kieran."
I blew out a breath, chuckling nervously.
"Oh, thank goodness. Thars a relief."
Kieran's eyes narrowed, and he took another step forward, crossing his arms across his chest.
"What's wrong with me? I'm more than capable of protecting you."
I winced, feeling guilty that I might have offended him.
"That's not the point. You're...you're..."
Lucian chuckled, clearly enjoying this.
"I think she's trying to say that she's not comfortable with you being her bodyguard, Kieran."
"I can see that but I want to know why?" He snapped back at him.
I tried to answer.
"Well...because you're...you're Kieran. I'm sorry but I can't let you, my friend, also and alpha to be my bodyguard. Can you understand, please?"
He huffed out a breath.
"Fine whatever."
I clapped my hands, smiling cheerfully.
"Great. And just so you know, I'm so glad to see you. Come here."
"Huh? Wait!"
Before he could stop me, I wrapped my hands round him in a brief hug. He stood still and frozen, then slowly, his arms went round me, hugging me too. I pulled back shortly, smoking softly at him. His eyes crinkled at the corner as he smiled, a big smile.
"I'm glad to see you too." He told me.
"Okay, enough of that now. That's my mate, thank you." Lucian pulled me to his side, giving Kieran a pointed look. "Aurora, meet your new bodyguard." He announced.
The door opened and a young man walked in. Tall and muscular, short brown hair that brushed the back of his neck and deep black eyes. He looked...familiar.
"Hey, Aurora. Good to see you again."
The guy waved, smiling bright at me.
My eyebrows furrowed in concentration as I stared at him with the tilt of my head.
"I'm really sorry, but have we met before? I feel like I know you from somewhere, I just can't place it."
He chuckled, a soft sound, his eyes flashing with amusement.
"Aurora, you do know him." Kieran supplied.
"I do? Of course I do...I just can't remember." I answered with a pout, staring back at him.
He stepped closer, stretching out his hand for a handshake.
"I'm Kale. Kale Storm."
I blinked, taking his hand slowly. It was warm and firm.
"Kale. Kale." I squinted my eyes, trying to place the name. Then it clicked, I jumped. "Oh my gosh!" I gasped, my eyes round. "Kale? Kieran's beta? Kale Storm."
Kale laughed brightly, his head bobbing up and down.
"The one and only, I knew you would eventually remember me, though I'm hurt that you could even forget me. How can you forget such a handsome face?" He placed a hand on his chest in mock pain.
I laughed, feeling my heart going warm at seeing an old face.
"I'm sorry, I guess I had a lot on my mind that I forgot your handsome face. I'm sorry."
"Ahem!" Lucian cleared his throat. "I'm.the only guy you can call handsome."
I sighed, ignoring him.
"Ignore him. So you are my bodyguard, eh?"
He nodded, "Yeah, and don't worry you are in the most capable haves you could ever get. No one is getting to you unless they pass me first." He hit his chest with a brave face.
I laughed again.
"I'm happy to have such a brave and strong bodyguard to protect me."
"And don't forget handsome." He added pointing to his face.
I looked at Lucian with question in my eyes.
"So how did you mange to convince him? Wait. I thought you have to take your beta with you, Griffin has to go because he has no choice, right?"
Kale answered for me.
"Yeah, I can stay here because I am already acquainted with the alphas, they all know I am his beta. It's a different case for Griffin."
"Does he know about this arrangement?" I asked.
Lucian nodded.
"Yeah. He already met them before they got here."
Kieran made a sound in his throat, rolling his eyes.
"And as for convincing me to lend Kale to you as your bodyguard, he literally guilt tricked me into it."
I raised an eyebrow.
"Really?"
Lucian shrugged, looking away, pouting.
"He tried to take you away from me many times, he should at least make up for it."
Kieran snorted.
"And me helping you with the Desmond battle was not enough?"
Lucian looked him in the eyes.
"No."
"Ha! Why do I even bother?" He threw up his hand, sounding exasperated.
Kale and I shared a glance, I leaned in to whisper.
"Did they act like this earlier?"
He snorted.
"Even worse, this is actually better."
I shook my head, my eyes tired.
"They are just like kids bickering for no reason, never going to change. Come on, follow me."
"Where are we going?"
I glanced back at the two men one last time, they were still going at it.
"I need to introduce you to a few people, you will have to get acquainted with them if you're gonna start the job."
He grinned.
"Lead the way, ma'am."
