Chapter 146 Epilogue

Chapter 146 Epilogue
MONTHS LATER

Mornings had become my favorite because of the warmth I had gotten used to waking up. Lucian’s hands around me holding me safely. I didn’t open my eyes immediately, I didn’t want to rush it.

I stirred slowly, my hand instinctively moving down, resting over the gentle curve of my stomach. I smiled. It still felt like a dream to me that I was pregnant.

When I first found out months ago after my accident, I was skeptical about telling Lucian because I was scared I was going to lose this one too but Lucian already knew as he noticed the change in my scent. Since then, he had been hovering around me like a hawk. Always watching what I’m doing and making sure I didn’t stress.

"My two favorite people” Lucian's voice came, low and rough with sleep. I huffed softly, finally opening my eyes.

"You're awake”

"Yes. I could hear the wheels in your head moving” he murmured against my hair. I turned in his arms, raising a brow.

"You can hear my thoughts now?"

"No” he said, his lips brushing the corner of my mouth.

“But I can feel when you're smiling so widely” My cheeks warmed.

"I smile all the time”

"Are you sure?” He asked teasingly.

His hand slid gently over mine, our hands resting over my stomach now. The gesture was instinctive. It has become a habit of Lucian to put his hands over my belly. He told me he was trying to bond with his child.

"Did you sleep well?" I asked softly.

"I did” he said.

“What about you? Was the baby kicking hard?”

“Your son is always active”

“Daughter” he corrected.

Since we found out about the child, Lucian had insisted it was a girl and I told him it was a boy.

"I checked on you three times” I laughed quietly.

"Lucian..."

"What? Any slightest shift and I wake up to check” he said, completely unbothered.

"That sounds exhausting”

"It's worth it”

The simplicity of it made my chest tighten because he meant it.

"You don't have to watch me every second” I murmured. His expression shifted slightly.

"I don’t want to take any chances” he said.

“I love you so much” I said caressing his cheek

“Not more than me and I love our daughter even more” I smiled faintly.

"Our child” His gaze softened.

I leaned forward, pressing a soft kiss to his lips.

"Possessive” I whispered.

"Always”

By the time we made our way outside, the sun was already high. The pack was alive as everyone went about their day with joy. It made me happy when I saw them. The past months had shown me what I had been missing all those years at my old pack

"You shouldn't be walking too much” Lucian said as we stepped down the stairs. I rolled my eyes.

"I've been walking my whole life”

"Yes, but now it’s different” I stopped, turning to him.

"I'm pregnant, not made of glass”

"You're both," he replied without missing a beat. I stared at him.

"You're impossible”

"And you love me anyway." I sighed.

"You’re lucky I do” He smirked slightly, clearly pleased with himself.

Then, without warning, he crouched slightly in front of me.

"What are you doing?" I asked.

"Get on” I blinked.

"Lucian…”

"You said you didn't want to walk too much. I’m helping” he said.

"I did not say that”

"You implied it”

"I absolutely did not”

He just looked at me unmoving. I didn’t have strength for the back and forth. I groaned softly.

"You're ridiculous”

"I know. Get on” I hesitated.

Then, I did because arguing with him when he got like this was pointless. And in a way I liked it. His hands came up, steadying me as I settled against his back.

"Comfortable?" he asked.

"Too comfortable” I admitted.

"Good”

He stood easily, like I weighed nothing and started walking. People stared and smiled. I buried my face slightly into his shoulder.

"I hate you” I muttered.

"No, you love me”

"You're making a scene”

"I don’t care”

"Put me down” I said quietly.

"Why?"

"Because I want to kiss you properly”

That made him pause. He turned slightly, lowering me just enough so I could slide down to my feet. The moment I did, I reached for him, pulling him closer and I kissed him.

It was a slow, sensual kiss filled with all the love I had for him. When I pulled back, his eyes were darker.

"You make me want to forget about everything and stay in bed all day” I smirked at him.

Later, I sat beneath one of the large trees at the edge of the grounds. The breeze was gentle. Lina sat beside me, her shoulder brushing mine lightly.

I had completely forgiven her and we were hack to being friends. She was also the first person I told that I was pregnant, even before I confirmed by suspicion to Lucian.

"You really are glowing” she said for the hundredth time. I laughed.

"You keep saying that all the time”

"I'll keep saying it." I shook my head, smiling.

Her gaze softened as it dropped to my stomach.

"I still can't believe it”

"Neither can I”

"Have you told him yet?" she asked.

"Told him what?" She gave me a look.

"The name” I blinked.

"What name?"

"The one you've been thinking about” I frowned slightly.

"I haven't decided….”

"Ailsa” I sighed.

"Fine”

She leaned in slightly.

"Well?" I hesitated then smiled softly.

"If it's a girl like Lucian says, I was thinking... maybe something strong”

"Like?"

I looked down at my hands.

"Something that reminds her she survived before she was even born. A name like Raven” Lina's expression softened.

"I like that”

"And if it's a boy..." I added.

"What then?" I smiled faintly.

"He'll have his father's stubbornness” She laughed.

Lucian appeared not long after like he always did.

"I was looking for you” he said.

"I'm right here, enjoying the breeze”

"I can see. Are you craving for anything?” I shook my head.

He crouched in front of me, his hand resting gently over my stomach again.

"Are you behaving?" he murmured softly. I raised a brow.

"Are you talking to me or the baby?" He didn't even look at me.

"The baby” I gasped lightly.

"I am very well behaved”

He glanced up at me then.

"No, you're not”

Lina snorted beside me.

"See? He knows” I narrowed my eyes.

"You're both rude”

Lucian just smiled faintly. Then leaned in, pressing a soft kiss just above my stomach. The baby kicked at that moment and Lucian grinned widely.

“See, she knows my voice”

You could hear the excitement in his tone and I knew this baby would want nothing be it a boy or girl.

I leaned my head against his shoulder, closing my eyes as the warmth of the sun wrapped around us. I thanked the moon goddess for letting me choose my fate.

A sharp pain shot through me and I screamed Lucian’s name.

“What’s that?”

“I think the baby is coming”

The End.
